Contestants Needed for Bowling Game Show

Posted by Alex Davis On July - 5 - 2007

Sorry for the lack of updates recently. I’m back from SummerFest in Milwaukee, so updates are back to schedule. If you’re a stand up comedy fan, be sure to see Lewis Black and Lynne Koplitz. Both are hilarious. Also, check out the band Social Distortion, back from when music was actually good.

Picture This, who did what is in my opinion the best televised card show (Celebrity Poker Showdown), is looking for contestants for a new bowling show. They are currently seeking 18-28 year old trained actors who will do “anything (and we mean anything!)” in a bowling show pilot. The actors will play the part of desperate (ex)college students who are in need of cash. If you want to be part of it, click here.

Are we actually going into the territory of strip bowling or something? I want to say I’m not digging the idea of this show, but Let’s Bowl was a minor success, so who knows. I was actually a pretty big fan of Let’s Bowl on Comedy Central, so this worries me a bit. Part of why I think Let’s Bowl was relatively successful was that the bowling was not the focus; the comedy was. I’m wondering if by put bowling in the forefront of gameplay the show will become just as boring as National Bingo Night.

  1. Donald Said,

This sounds like something Comedy Central or MTV would try to do. My bowling game show idea I’ve had since I was a teen would make a better sports game show. Of course the top prize of my bowling game show would be $1,000,000.

This one though, somethin tells me that this aint even gonna make it to the tube.

  2. Jordan Hass Said,

Diddn’t they have this back in 2000?

Where they had “College” kids play bowling, but each round was diffrent, like they had to sit in a recliner with a plunger to control it, and there was a beer frame, where if they striked they got a free keg of beer prize?

Then whoever won the enire championship won $75,000 or something?

and there was technolighting, and a jazz club set?

Either way, i should call the show “I Bet You Bowl”

That show you were referring to was called “Rockin’ Bowl” and I believe it was on TNN (now Spike) in 2000.

  4. steve Said,

the fact that they’re looking for “trained actors” for this thing strikes me as a bit odd… this sounds like this’ll be more like some sort of staged reality show or bizarre sitcom than an actual game show. the premise does sound at least slightly interesting (being a decent bowler myself), so i might watch the show… once or twice… i didn’t see “let’s bowl,” so i’m not exactly sure what to expect.

hindsight: forgive me for the “strike” pun. totally unintentional.

  5. Greg Said,

Bowling made a great game show before. Remember “Jackpot Bowling” with Milton Berle? Or “Make that Spare” on ABC? They did a revival of the latter in 1988.

    I liked NBN.

My Only Comment on “Instant Recall”

Was it just me or was Instant Recall pretty tough?  If that’s what GSN thinks a tongue-in-cheek retro-style game show is, no wonder they are having so many problems.  It looks like a bad cable access show.  I feel bad…
