Confirmed: Rich Fields No Longer with “The Price is Right”

Sadly, news was confirmed today that Rich Fields is no longer the announcer for the long running CBS daytime game show The Price is Right, hosted by Drew Carey. Rumors about this have been swirling for around two months now. Rich has been the announcer of the show since 2004, taking over for the deceased Rod Roddy. I wish Rich the best. He’s a great friend to the site and unbelievably nice.
On-camera auditions will take place the first few weeks of the new season of Price which begins in September. New tapings start next week and hopefully we’ll hear back. And just before the deluge of questions come on: I truly have no idea what happened. I’m usually in the loop for this stuff, but I’m stumped on this one.
One more request, also. The show’s not going to suddenly self destruct so I’d really like to kindly ask people to not do the usual Price thing where something changes and there’s a witch hunt against Drew and doom being spouted left and right. Be supportive and wish Rich your best. He reads and your messages are welcome.
I know these rumors have been around for a while. I have a rule that I won’t post rumors about people like this. It’s just without taste to post rumors about someone’s career. It’s confirmed now, and I hope to see Rich somewhere else soon.

I really enjoyed Rich for his talent and the life he brought to the show. Unless he killed a CBS executive, he should be the one to announce. We miss you team partner to Drew! Bring him back, Bring him back, Bring him back…
I no longer watch the Price is Right because I don’t enjoy watching it since the replacement of Rich Field…
I’m very upset that The Price Of Right would get rid of Mr. Fields. I am 56 years old and I have been watching the show since I was 12 years old even before Bob Barker. Mr. Field has been the best annoucer sine Mr. Roddy. You need to consider bringing him back.
While I don’t profess to have lost my enjoyment of Price is Right without Rich, I must admit I have missed him (to the point of finally searching for answers). Whatever the reasons for the change of announcers, I wish Rich whatever will meet his needs, (with a dash of selfish enjoyment if he returns).

Canada says ” Please bring Rich Fields back as Announcer”….not aware of what the issue is/was but this man did a great job and everyone misses him….
yes they should bring Rich Fields back …he was the best announcer the price is right had and if CBS let him go then they should get him back …the announcer’s they been having on there ain’t no where close to being as good as Rich Fields simple as that
I loved Rich and Drew together, when I saw a new announcer I was upset. I have always loved Drew Carey and I will watch The Price Is Right forever but I think you would do well to get Rich back they compliment each other.
I am so sorry to see that Rich Fields is no longer on The Price is Right. The show is fun and I watch it frequently (when I am not working). The show has lost part of it’s fun however. Rich Fields was part and parcel of the personality of the show; he was excellent as the announcer. He would even appear on the stage now and then and that was also fun. The current announcer is pretty bad; his voice just does not fit the bill and his personality is dull. I would like to wish Rich Fields the best of luck.

The show is not good anymore. Rich was a great announcer. This is not a variety/comedy show. It’s a game show. We don’t need any comedians. Rich was a very good announcer. In fact, I had rather had him than Drew. Or even better, John O’Hurley! The announcers that they have now either talk through their noses or try to be funny. Change is not always for the best.
I don’t know why Rich is no loger with CBS and The Price Is Right all I can say is WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE FOR LETTING SUCH A GREAT ANNOUNCER GET AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Drew Carey is good but without Rich it’s just not the same. These other so called announcers just don’t have it. They are boring and don’t have any getup and go.I really think the CBS people should do whatever to get Rich back!!
I miss Rich Fields very much. He was a great partner with Drew. I am watching a game show not a variety show. I can watch American Idol for variety if that is what I want. I have always loved game shows and watch GSN a lot. I love Drew Carey but I don’t watch it as much as I used to because of the changes being made. If it isn’t broke, why fix it????? Sue
I have been a lifelong viewer of The Price Is Right and greatly mourn the loss of Rich Fields as the announcer. I think he had a much clearer voice and put extra emphasis on announcing when Drew entered the stage. But if he can’t return to The Price Is Right, I do wish him all the best in his new career. Hopefully, I will be seeing him soon in another show. Please keep us updated on where we may see him again. Thank you for all the good times!

I’m currently watching TPIR. . . I really miss Rich Fields! The show is not as much fun. I don’t feel as involved. All the money in the world is worth having him back. I hope he’s ok. I hope he comes back- even if just temporariily.
I miss Rich as much as the rest of us on here but in all honesty, I really don’t see him coming back. He will, however, be announcing a show that’s coming to GSN in April! I believe the show is called “Drew Carrey’s Improviganza!” So if this is true, we’ll be seeing Drew and Rich together again!
Yes, the guest announcers have been terrible for the most part. The one they’ve used for the last two weeks or so, Steve White, is certainly one of the better ones, though! If any of these guest announcers should get the job, Steve White is top of my list!

Rich Fields need to be brought back now !!! None of the other announcers can even start to compare to his professionalism, great sense of humor and his superior voice.
Admit your error and just bring him back as soon as humanly possible. We miss him as part of our family.

My Dad is 83 years old…. he finally realized after watching this show longer than most of us r born that the announcer has changed. He enjoys DREW so much, but without RICH he turns it off!!! Personally the new announcer is fine… but bring Rich back.
I too enjoyed Rich Fields announcing but I’m terribly disappointed in how Drew Carey hosts the show. If we wanted a 12 yr. old kid to host the show, I’m sure they would have hired one. What the show needs is someone like John O’herley who hosted Family Fued, then they’ed have a great show!
