Comment from a “Fifth Grader?” Audience Member

Just to add more anticipation (is anticipation a good or a bad word?  You can decide) to the mass that is “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?”, we have an audience member’s reaction to the show.  The show has taped recently and continues taping this week.  This is from Buzzer reader Darren.  Thanks Darren!

I just came back from a taping of this show and you hit the nail on the head.  The lady who was answering questions was dumb, dumb, dumb.  And yet, she won $100,000.00 for being an idiot.  I knew every answer immediately (What is the closest star to the Earth?, What is the name of the ship that the Pilgrams came over to America in?) and she hemmed and hawed and had to get help.  It was ridiculous.  I came home and asked my 2nd and 4th grader these questions and they knew most of the answers.  It was embarrasing and if this is the average intelligence level of Americans, I now have a better understanding of why G. W. Bush was elected twice.  I guess it’s fitting that Jeff Foxworthy is hosting.
EDIT: This new Craigslist post from an audience caster says the EXACT reason why I’m afraid of this show:

“Unlike a typical game show that measures intelligence, this how tests adults’ lack of knowledge versus kids. ”

Should we make an “I CALLED IT!” banner like Stephen Colbert?  Time will tell when FOX debuts their new show on February 27th at 9:30PM ET.

As a special bonus, we talked to someone who wished to remain nameless but has told Buzzer that, for the 3rd time, GSN’s “Chain Reaction” bonus round is being adjusted, and yes, it’s even easier than before now.  We’ll give you the scoop when we get it in full tomorrow.
