Comment about “Ask the Expert”

Can we seriously just change the name of Who Wants to be a Millionaire‘s new lifeline “Ask the Expert” to Ask the Ogas?  Ogi Ogas, a former $500,000 winner and Grand Slam runner up has been nearly perfect and by far the best expert.  Bill Nye in week one is basically the only other one so far, beyond the episodes I saw tape, that was worth anything.

Ogas is smart, but he needs to get over himself. He sounds so condescending when he’s helping a contestant out. Granted, he’s been asked some pretty simple questions (e.g. “How many decades have passed since 10,000 BC?”) but that’s no reason to be patronizing. These contestants are under time pressure and hot lights. Ogi is sitting at home on his laptop.

Ogi’s kind of abrasive sometimes, definitely (“Brad Rutter does math like a little girl”). But he’s still one of the best possible people for this lifeline.
