Just as in movies, it seems game shows are being taken over by revivals today. Password is coming back soon, GSN has a revival of sorts of Gambit, TBS has Match Game, we have The Newlywed Game and The Dating Game from Embassy Row, there’s a few more in the wings, and now we can add another to the list. Cynopsis announced that Comedy Central has revived The Gong Show, a popular 70’s variety/game show, and is currently casting.
The old version was hosted by Chuck Barris and featured some bizarre and impressive acts trying to avoid getting the “Gong” from a celebrity panel who just had enough of an act. The show was revived by GSN ages ago in the form called Extreme Gong, hosted by the fantastic George Gray. In that version, people at home could call in and say when they had enough of an act. I also seem to remember something called the “Dame of the Game”, but who knows. I was probably too distracted by the dame to remember. This version will be hosted by Dave Attell of the former popular Comedy Central show Insomniac and is currently casting to be taped in either Los Angeles or New York. If you have an act you want to try on the show, click here to send a link of your video taped act to a casting director.

Comedy Central has a big tendancy to really let things go beyond the filter so if they push this show’s envelope, like Marc said it’s on the right channel. The channel were anything can happen. lol
