Clarification on My Mention of “Press Your Luck”
Need to clarify this since some people took it horribly wrong. Over the years there have been talks of Press Your Luck. I don’t know if there are any now or what the deal is. All I said was I’m really shocked we haven’t heard if they are doing it, since it fits well.

Easily the best remake of the Gameshow Marathon. The game was nicely updated money-wise. Some new board features could add some spice. Tough to stretch to an hour, though. Works best as a half-hour and easy to syndicate, especially if no returning champion. Amazing this would not be under serious consideration. It's time…

If this does turn out to be true, so long as they cast Todd Netwon as host (or Marc Summers, Mark L. Walberg, Mark DeCarlo… anyone but Ricki Lake), I'm fine with whatever they do with the show (as long as it's not another Whammy remake).

I wish I had connections in LaLa Land! Part of me wants to say I'd rather host PYL than Price! Anyway, after reading the Pyramid article, I think the clarification was much needed, Alex.
insaneben, what were your problems with Whammy?

Well, overall it was a decent show, but there was a number of issues I had with it, such as:
-More prizes than cash amounts (which seemed to speak volumes about the show's budget).
-Higher odds of hitting a whammy.
-The "Double Whammy' space (totally unnecessary)
-Fewer contestants finishing with totals above the five-figure range (compared to the original PYL).
-The "spin 'til you hit a whammy or freeze" first round (that one I'm kind of split on).
-The difficulty of winning a new car (as opposed to the original, which once again highlighted the ugly truth of the show's budget).
-The excessive chatter if a game was running short during the final round.
The only good thing to come out of Whammy was the "Big Bank" space (and Todd Newton). Aside from that, it was a pale imitator of the original PYL (and one of the main reasons I cringe whenever I see the Fremantle Media logo at the end of the show, although they're starting to regain their footing with the current incarnations of TPiR and LMAD).

I agree with you on everything…..except the Double Whammy. I loved those a ton!
I always felt that the odds would be higher to hit whammies because the show seemed (key word: seemed) to have a more random rotation then the original. But honestly the prizes annoyed the heck out of me!
I loved the Big Bank on Whammy. I hope when and if they bring back Press Your Luck they add that to it. I would set it up in daytime network on CBS before Let's make a deal and here is how I'd do it
Round one- trivia
Round one- spin – big bucks are $5,000, $2,500 and $1,250
Round Two- trivia
Round Two- spin- big bucks are $10,000 and a spin, $7,500 and a spin and $5,000 and a spin
Returning champs for up to seven times.

Press Your Luck would be an awesome addition to the CBS lineup. Would be hard to make into an hour show, but no matter how long the show is, it would be nice to see the Big Board back in action.
I would love to see PYL return. I disagree with one comment however. Returning champions is a must. Otherwise, it screws with the decision making of the last round. Why would anyone who just whammied pass their spins in round 2? It would just be a bitch move for everyone to leave empty handed. Returning champions is a must. All players could then come back for a second show.
Press Your Luck (I still remember watching it when it was Second Chance, and they had Demons instead of Whammys) is a classic example of a show with a KILLER bonus game, and a fairly lame base game leading up to it. The question format is pretty good, but people literally are sitting there waiting for the Big Board. Personally, I prefer the base game – ever since I was a kid I knew the bonus game could be hacked, and I was so happy when they guy finally did it.
You're talking about Larson, right?
