Chuck Woolery to Host Million Dollar Cat Game Show

Did you forget about GSN’s million dollar cat game show and thought it was a nightmare? Yeah, I kinda wish I did too. But apparently it’s not, as GSN today announced Chuck Woolery will be hosting the spectacle. Chuck previously hosted GSN’s longest running original, Lingo, which was unceremoniously dumped in favor of such gems as How Much is Enough a bit ago.

The special, on November 15th, sees cats and their human partners play what are essentially retooled classic game shows in some bastardization of a format for the chance at a million dollars. And if the million is actually somehow won I’m going to cough up a hairball. “In my game show career, I’ve worked with TV stars, film stars, sports figures, legendary musicians and many other contestants,” he said. “Now I’m thrilled to be working with my furry friends — cats. It’s a first for me, and I’m delighted to be partnering with Meow Mix and GSN.”

Enjoy a video of it to let the image sink in.

Well now, with Good ol’ Chuck aboard, this may now be somewhat watchable.

    Emphasis on “somewhat.”

  • DB25 says:

OMG…aren’t there any better ideas being pitched GSN? This kinda stuff is just so rediculous that I can’t take GSN seriously anymore. *rolls eyes*

  • Shon says:

Isn’t Chuck Woolery hosting a cat game show one of the first signs of the apocalypse?

  • Intelligentfan777 says:

Yes, GSN has better ideas. It’s only a one-shot special, and I think they are just doing this for the ad revenue, and additional revenue they can use to fund other, better projects. Although, in all honesty, this whole venture may backfire on them if ( a BIG if, but still an if) the million is actually won.

  • Michael says:

I’ll tell you how one-shot this will be… can you say “Who wants to be governor of California?” again? This is just another typical lame-ass move by GSN. It’s bad enough that they don’t look into another Grand Slam tournament with more quiz show champs and a better host. Speaking of hosts, Chuck, baby, you’ve hosted some great shows and now you’ve sunk to this? I’d rather watch 5th grader. (Canadian 5th grader that is.)

  • DENo1MatchGameFan says:

I like Chuck Woolery, and most of the game shows he has been in, but get real GSN – who among the celebrities that appeared on game shows is most identified as an animal lover (and don’t politicize it on the shows they were on?) Why no one except for BETTY WHITE! Who would be better to host this kind of show (if it has to even air in the first place?) Remember that Betty hosted part of a syndicated “Match Game” episode, and was the first woman emcee to win a Daytime Emmy for “Just Men” in 1983, why not let her host something she has a passion for – animals! No wonder this network is in such a mess right now!

  • Nick Todor says:

Just one problem with Betty White…. she’s 86!

  • Jumpondees says:

OMG, Chuck Woolery, I love you, I think you are legendary in your own right, but I think i’ve lost a small ounce of respect for you on this one. Was Bob Goen not availible, was he not too busy calling a dog show for Animal Planet? If you needed a paycheck THAT BAD Chuck, you could have at least found something to pitch on QVC. Now that quote of yours, “Now I’m thrilled to be working with my furry friends — cats. It’s a first for me, and I’m delighted to be partnering with Meow Mix and GSN.” , I can’t read that without seeing a publicity picture of you with Garfield at your side with what appears to be his paw in your you know what manipulating your mouth. I’m going to go laugh now.

  • Antonio Gray says:

    Jumpondess,

Bob Goen is busy with GSN Radio. The last comment is just wrong but Alex Davis has to do things in the entertainment business that he might not like but he STILL goes out and do them so you can’t do nothing about it at all..

  • DENo1MatchGameFan says:

This is written in response to Nick Todor – so WHAT if Betty is 86? She’s still got it, as she proved on “Million Dollar Password”, as well as on “Ugly Betty”, and “Boston Legal” over the past few years, and she isn’t slowing down. Besides that, it would be the perfect fit, as animals are a passion for ‘Miss Betty Honey’ – did you see the 1-800-PET-MEDS commercials that she was in – who would fit better?

Besides that, the age BS doesn’t wash, as a certain game show emcee (who SHOULD remain nameless) hosted a certain show until they were 83 years old, and most people salute everything this person has ever done, so like Aaliyah sang long ago, “Age ain’t nothing but a number!”

  • Mike says:

But Barker came across as going through the motions and forgetting things for his last 10 seasons. Giving an 86-year-old a new format for a one-time show is not good TV.

Woolery’s a known host. Good move by GSN.

  • KKyuubi says:

All I have to say is this….

    CAN I HAS MILLION DOLLARZ?

  • John says:

I hate to tell you this but… I’M ANXIOUS TO WATCH IT.
It would probably allow me to point and laugh at the cats at their dumbest moments.
Examples: 1) During the race, cat does nothing but sitting down. 2) During the race, cat walks away from the scene and make its way pass the staff. 3) During the race, cat walks away and jumps onto a video camera.

  • David Howell says:

KKyuubi: brilliant. I don’t know whether the cats can do much with it though… ‘I HAS A MONEY. WHAT I DO WIV IT?’

I hope GSN has a money from this and knows what they do wiv it. Like, I dunno, new Grand Slam or Russian Roulette.

The best thing about this show is going to be the LOLcats that come out of it. Please don’t say that was half the purpose.
