Check Out Some New Game Show Podcasts and Tumblr Blogs

As always it’s nice to see new content about the game show genre popping up.  Since blogs have become more and more popular over the past few years, many about our genre are appearing.  We’ve finally got a few on the newest popular blogging platform, Tumblr, which are incredibly entertaining to read and showcase a lot of different things you can’t necessarily find here.  Not only that, but a few new podcasts about game shows have appeared that deserve mention.  In addition, we’re finally announcing our newest firm-go for a new podcast today.

*We’ll start with our shameless plug.  Off the big success we had with GSN’s PinPoint, we’re coming back with something entirely new.  Our newest production is our first comedy panel quiz in the style of the British panel shows that a majority of you enjoy.  5Hole and BuzzerBlog present: The FIX.  The FIX is a unique and funny quiz show that lets our panel of celebrities, television and radio personalities, and others literally rig a quiz show.  One team will see an answer and must come up with the most bizarre, but factually correct, question they can.  The team that scores the most points wins that day, but watch out for a few surprises as our teams, and even the host, can fix a round on a whim.  We’ll have exact debut dates soon, but it’s close.  We’re gathering up celebrities to appear.

*Moving to Tumblr, our friend and the original founder of BuzzerBlog, back before we got modern with the title and when it was called Buzzer: The Game Show Blog, Cory Anotado has founded a new Tumblr which showcases some of the best, funniest, and most interesting things in the genre around the world.  It’s called F*ck Yeah Game Shows and it can be found by clicking here.  If you’re looking for a laugh about game shows, this is the place for it.  Some of the stuff on there has had me laughing out loud often.

*The newest Tumblr is called Game Show Confessions.  Do you have something about the genre you’ve wanted to say that either goes against the grain, is slightly bizarre, or you just don’t want others to know?  This new site lets you reveal whatever you want to about the genre anonymously, if desired.  It’s cool to see what people think when behind a curtain.  You learn a lot of what you thought about the genre isn’t necessarily true.  For instance, some of the more recent interesting confessions include Match Game being overrated, a (completely true) criticism of current game show casting, and how the US market for game shows is screwed.  Click here to check it out and leave your confessions.

*Our friends at UKGameshows and Bother’s Bar have announced the results of the annual Poll of the Year.  2011 was a pretty interesting year for UK game shows, as our readers and their readers know.  The results are equally as interesting.  Did your favorite shows make the Hall of Fame…or the Hall of Shame?  Click here to find out.

*It’s not updated that much anymore, but our friend and genre producer Noah put together a really funny Tumblr called Dogs Watching Jeopardy!.  It’s exactly what you’d expect.  The title is bizarre and you know what you’re getting into before you go, but I can’t seem to turn away.  It’s absurd, but it’s difficult to leave.  Click here for that.

*Reader Troy Diggs has set up something interesting…the first podcast devoted to The Price is Right.  Pricecast, hosted by Troy and Matt, take a fun and lighthearted look at some of the craziest contestants and memorable moments of the long running CBS daytime game show.  If you watch the show, it’s very evident there’s an overwhelming amount of material for them to use.  Click here to listen.  It’s great for anyone.

Did I miss something?  Be sure to let me know.
