Celebrity “Hole in the Wall” Scheduled

FOX’s Hole in the Wall has been a relative failure.  What a surprise!  In an order to get some interest in the show, FOX has bumped ahead what will be very liberally called celebrity episodes.  It’s as vague of a celebrity show as you can get.  Coming up next week will be the personally dubbed “Skanks of VH1 Edition of Hole in the Wall“!

You’ll be seeing the walking petrie dishes from Flavor of Love face off against the girls of Rock of Love.  Both shows which they come from see women wanting television fame dating formerly famous musicans (Flavor Flav and Bret Michaels, respectively) in an effort to gain some minor fame which will probably lead to a starring role in an original Cinemax movie.  After the show is over they’re going to boil the water I have a feeling.

I’m not trying to be a huge jerk, but couldn’t they get anyone else at all?  If you don’t specifically watch those shows, you aren’t going to know who’s playing which leads me not to care.  You’re telling me there’s no FOX shows they could promote on it?  Or the usual Kathy Griffin club of celebrities didn’t make the cut?  Other countries at least had D level celebrities participating, not Q level.  All of this fun will happen October 2nd at 8PM Eastern.

I don’t like it, either, but it’s basic marketing. Who does HITW appeal to? Stupid teenagers. What do stupid teenagers watch? VH1 reality shows. These teenagers aren’t too interested in seeing old celebrities from the 70′s trying to jump through a wall.

Not to mention, most of these celebrities respect themselves too much to go on a show like Hole.

I was actually in the audience for that taping and got to meet pumpkin after words… she said they had to “stage” the last part, as well as the water “was pretty f—ing cold”.

Admin: No, we don’t want spoilers. At least you could’ve given some warning before posting them.

I couldn’t find it in the archives, but at some point in the past, I made a remark that I thought that HitW had potential to be a truly entertaining show, despite all odds.

I come before you this day to humbly redact that statement, apologize to the entire BuzzerBlog community for uttering such blasphemy, and grovel at the feet of Alex Davis, loudly proclaiming, “Man, I should have believed you…”

I truly don’t like what America (er, Fox) has done to such an enjoyable concept. I’m fairly certain that any other country’s version of the show would be more enjoyable than what we’ve done to it. The anticipation I saw in the promos ended up being empty dramatics, and the comedy I saw before wasn’t funny anymore. The atmosphere is now terribly depressing, and I think watching “Ghost” would leave me happier than seeing this show. And then to see these pseudo-pselebrities coming on the show to play? Look out Fonz, a shark!

Thanks for the spoiler Jordan. I say that because I, nor anyone else cares, of course. :p

I admit I have not watched an episode of this and I’m pretty sure I haven’t missed much. Also, I never thought I’d be missing The Moment Of Truth right now.

This probably should have been a celebrity show from the start, as it was in Japan (and is in Australia and the UK), so this is (incredibly) a positive move.

I’m not saying this show should be a big hit, but I’m dissapointed it’s not doing that well, it’s alright for a couple of cheap laughs, but they’re trying too hard to make a legimate game out of it, (like they’re doing with 5th grader). They should follow Wipeout’s example and put the emphsis on people looking like douchebags.

This is where the show should be placed in a quiet timeslot, like the BBC has done. Which has done well for the show at the moment, although it airs at 5.30pm. One in five people are watching Hole in the Wall.

Also we gave got decent celebrities on the show, from comedians to retired sports people.

If this had been on Saturdays, this might have worked for FOX.

If this had been on Comedy Central, this would definitely have worked for them.

As a weeknight network primetime show with either members of the public or non-entity celebrities (not always on separate shows – the ‘Three Blond Bunnies’ are probably more famous than the VH1 Skanks if they’ve been in Playboy…) and presentation typical of a weeknight network primetime show… it’s time to face the hole indeed. A black hole of television oblivion.
