CBS Schedules “Game Show in My Head” For January 3rd
Eons ago CBS announced they ordered a pilot of a new show Game Show in My Head hosted by Chris Kattan. Apparently that failed but they really wanted the show, and they reshot the pilot with Joe Rogan (NewsRadio). After nearly a year I expected it to be gone, but apparently not. CBS announced what is essentially a burning off of Game Show on My Head Saturdays, Starting January 3rd, at 8PM ET. Two half hour episodes will air in the hour block.
In the show, a contestant has to perform a certain task for $5,000 each time while the studio audience watches. In the end game, the contestant can double his or her money to $50,000. And there we have it. I’ve never really been a fan of hidden camera type shows and this is really no exception. It just doesn’t sound like anything that stands out. I think the Saturday time slot says that as well.
By the way, CBS still has six episodes of the trust based show Do You Trust Me? sitting around collecting dust. I doubt we’ll ever see it, but it would be nice if this show bombs.

Doesn’t sound that exciting, but I would like to know how the contestants can DOUBLE their $5000 prize to $50,000. :P
On other message boards, people have expressed excitement over the return of non-Fox original programming on Saturdays. Unfortunately, this is not the show that will revive such programming on Saturday nights.
The show was piloted two years ago. It was greenlit in January 2008, and episodes were taped in April. There were reports that the tapings were flawed production wise, and that there was plenty of tension involving host Joe Rogan and the crew.
Frankly, it seems to me that CBS just wants to get rid of the show as soon as possible.

Is this the first time in years a game show is having first runs on a Saturday?
CBS was the home of Candid Camera in the last go-round. That oughta tell ya something.
Regis WWTBAM aired on Saturday nights during its original multi-night runs in 1999.
You mean that this is Candid Camera meets Beat The Clock? No wonder CBS greenlit it. And what’s worst, they have Joe Rogan as host. Don’t get me wrong Joe was great on Fear Factor, but he’s not a game show host (if you like to call this show that). And James D. is right, CBS is trying to get rid of it. Here’s an idea, why not try “wiping” the show.
As for Do You Trust Me? I expect a summer run.
I recall watching some hidden camera game shows in the past. My favorite was “Oblivious” on what is now Spike Tv (why isn’t that show still on?) Anyway, this show sounds a lot like You’re On which was on Nickelodeon years ago, I liked that show when I was younger, so I’ll probably give this show a chance.
Least, Joe Rogan has a job which is working for the UFC so he could care less if this show bombs which it probably will…
I just finished watching this 1/10/09 and I love it…I’d love to be on it. The tasks are not overly embarrassing or degrading, and while I have trouble believing that the cameras are really hidden, it’s amusing nonetheless. Of course, I also loved I Survived a Japanese Gameshow, so maybe I just enjoy watching people publically humiliate themselves. I would have expected this to be a summer filler, tho…
