We’re really getting you excited for the Drew Carey edition of The Price is Right hopefully. Today we’re giving you a clip CBS provided us and placed on YouTube. It shows the set, Drew, and the game in action. Watching it will give the more, uh, “traditional” fans a bit of relief. I don’t think there has been this much excitement about a new show in ages, has there? The new season of The Price is Right starts Monday, October 15th, on your local CBS stations. We’ll have a live blog all day with it. Be careful, the following clip is a bit spoiler filled. Thanks to reader JK for emailing us this.

How do we e-mail things to you, Alex? I don’t see a link anywhere…or am I missing it?
I wanted to share that later in October, Stan Blits of TPIR and Todd Newton (of the stage shwos) will be at Ceasar’s Indiana promoting the TPIR book. It is billed as a presentation and book signing, so it seems that the timing of this event is excellent. Clearly, Todd Newton is keeping an official connection of sorts with TPIR.

Oh, Yeah. This is the woman who “peed her pants” on stage! :p
That is a good clip! I take it it’s not from the season premiere, but and episode taped earlier?

I was in the audience for this taping - and the production number for this taping was #4041K… which would mean that this clip actually came from the Season 36 Premiere Show.

I had originally posted this in the previous TPIR Story ’cause I didn’t know where else to send it too. It was a scoop that I knew people here wanted to see. Some thoughts:
A. Is it just me or does The “Come On Down ‘07″ Music sound like a Marching band. Not complaining, but it seems noticable in that regard.
B. Looks like they’re taking the “Pricedown” font a little more seriously, perhaps we’ll see that if someone hits it big on the wheel?
C. The Set’s Great, Drew’s Great (Despite what they’re saying about him on the “Tube”) and I expect him to do very well.

To Scott. There should be a contact or about thing on the top right corner of the site, next to the block of red. If you’re using internet explorer, probably won’t see it. And it’s just as well since IE sucks.

To JK:
A. Yeah the “Come on Down” music sounds a bit more percussive than the old theme song, and you could certainly tell the difference between the new and the old theme songs, but I’m glad the same music note-for-note is still used.
B. Perhaps YES… perhaps no…
When I was in studio for this show, If I hadn’t already been told by Roger Dobkowitz (the producer) or by Chuck Dukas (the page) that it was the Season Premire, I wouldn’t have known it either. I don’t think anyone in the audience knew they were in the audience for the season premiere either. While usually they decorate the set for premiere shows, why bother decorating when you have a completely new set anyway?

My TiVo is set for this. It wouldn’t be news, except that the last thing I set TiVo for two weeks ahead was the premiere of “Temptation” (which was promptly deleted). Since I’ve had a preview of the New Price is Right, however, I can safely say, the show is in good hands. I’m looking forward to it more than I have in ages.
I can’t believe I’m saying it, but I think Drew Carey is perfect for this. More power to him.

I enjoyed that clip. Drew did a great job with the play by play of Plinko. He was the perfect choice for Price. Now I really can’t wait for Monday. That contestant was NUTS! But it is the Price is Right it’s known for crazy contestants. Here’s to season 36 and Drew.

Drew seems like he can handle crazy contestants which is perfect for TPIR. only the first show and Drew has a contestant who will probably make game show moments gone bananas 6 and he got to use the plinko stick. also, props to Drew for resisting the urge to make a joke about “going” in that clip like: “you gotta drop 2 more plinko chips before you drop anything else.”
FYI, is it just me or did I see Marie on 1 vs. 100 last year?, one of the 5 in the mob who split $263,000.
Temptation airs at the same time as TPIR in my area so if you can’t guess which one I’ll tape, YOU’RE ARE AN IDIOT!

I think Drew’s just what this show needed. We may finally get rid of the Liberty Medical and Hoveround commercials!

I love the preview. TPIR is much more improved, and I hope Drew will host 35 years, too. I am glad there are no more screaming T-shirted Barker-fnatic college students. Thank God!!!

I think you’ll be a little bit disappointed if you think the entire show has changed - there will still be Liberty Medical and Hoveround commercials because of the target advertising at that time of day, and there are still plenty of screaming T-shirt Drew Carey fanatics… I was one of them in the audience that day!
I’m just glad to see that the Price is Right is still The Price is Right… overall the changes that were made were for the better, and yet they still kept many elements of the show the same as before… it’s what kept the show going for 35 years!

There may be a new Plinko record set… I beleive the record is $23,100 from a primetime show a while ago… If someone can confirm that.

I’m not going to spoil anything else, but this clip shows that after three chips she already own $20,100. The record for Plinko in daytime is $23,000 on the 30th Season Premiere, and the record in primetime is $40,000.

I’ve had a great feeling about Drew ever since his name came into the running, and this clip did not disappoint.
By the way, according to the CBS site, the season premiere is episode #4062 which taped on August 28. The episode shown here (#4041) will air on Tuesday.

Hmm… that’s weird that theyre airing out of production number order AND out of tape date order. I guess this means that this clip is from the 2nd aired show.

The one thing that caught my eye immediately was that they are now using a wireless mic.
