Jeremy Blais Wins $250,000 on “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”
Jeremy Blais, a Surf Rescue lifeguard and pharmacist from Matunuck, RI, became the newest mega money winner on Who Wants to be a Millionaire. On Wednesday Jeremy won the $250,000 prize, making him the third person this season to take home the third biggest amount of money the show can offer. Jeremy won by Jumping over the $100,000 question, reasoning out the $250,000 and finding the right answer, and finally walking away on the $500,000 question. If you missed last night's episode of The Exit List, ITV's criminally mistreated quiz show airing Tuesdays at 8:00PM UK (3:00PM ET), you missed one hell of a game that you may want to catch up on. Deadliest Catch's Hillstrand Brothers, Johnathan and Andy, and Dirty Jobs's Mike Row will be coming to New York to play Who Wants to be a Millionaire for charity. In February each of them will play for $1,000,000 for their charities. The Hillstrand Brothers will be playing for Seattle Fishermen’s Memorial on February 2nd and 3rd. Mike Rowe is playing for mikeroweWORKS Foundation on February 27th and 28th. All other nights four contestants were narrowed to one, who went into the finale with the money they took from the vault. However, for the Saturday finale, two winners were crowned. We've got another big quiz show coming to television soon. ITV is debuting their newest, the memory-infused quiz The Exit List, on Tuesday, January 10th, at 8:00PM UK (3:00PM ET). The Exit List, hosted by Matt Allwright, puts two people into a maze. Each room is filled with cash, but each new room they enter adds more items to the "Exit List", which they must recite to win their bank. One room at the end is worth a big £100,000 for teams smart and brave enough to go that far. Be sure to watch weekdays at 5:00PM (12:00PM ET US) The celebrity series they had a few weeks ago was great, but we're back to regular contestants trying to win tens of thousands of pounds by outsmarting one of the four Chasers, some of England's greatest quizzers. Just two days in and we've already had some memorable moments. Yesterday a contestant successful captured a nearly-record £66,000...only £1,000 off the record from a celebrity show. They've had their share of funny moments as well. Channel 4's new quiz show The Bank Job debuted on Monday evening to 1.2 million viewers. The live game show which places contestants in a real bank and asks questions to win various amounts of money from the bank walls lost 800,000 viewers from its lead in, the special mash-up episode of The Million Pound Drop which featured regular host Davina McCall playing the game. The Bank Job is coming January 2nd to Channel 4, and the George Lamb hosted quiz show is gearing up with some interesting ways to expose the show. First off, though, the online game hit a nice milestone. Not only that, Channel 4 is trying to bring some more exposure to The Bank Job with a series of projections across London. We're in our third straight year of game shows that involve dropping people for losing. We had Downfall, and then 101 Ways to Leave a Game Show, and now Who's Still Standing?. However, these shows, especially the recent NBC one mentioned last, makes us remember just how incredibly good Russian Roulette was and how far ahead GSN/Game Show Network was ahead of anyone else. It also does show us that GSN can create a show that rivals anything else out there if they put out effort. We've posted some of the show on Facebook, and we wanted to go into it more here. We've covered the foreign versions rather extensively and given you lots of coverage of NBC's version, so you know most of what's to know about it. However, how about seeing it? Who Wants to be a Millionaire will celebrate Broadway next week with a special "Broadway Giveaway Week". Starting December 19th contestants will be asked one question each game about Broadway. If they answer it correctly they will win tickets to a performance of Mary Poppins or The Lion King for themselves and a member of the studio audience. In addition the two lead actors from Mary Poppins, Steffanie Leigh (Mary Poppins) and Gavin Lee (Bert), will kick off the week with a charity game. Their charity, The Actors Fund, is guaranteed $5,000 no matter what. Earlier this year Meredith Vieira had the chance to appear on Mary Poppins and play a chimney sweep in two dance numbers.
