Jeremy Blais Wins $250,000 on “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”
Jeremy Blais, a Surf Rescue lifeguard and pharmacist from Matunuck, RI, became the newest mega money winner on Who Wants to be a Millionaire. On Wednesday Jeremy won the $250,000 prize, making him the third person this season to take home the third biggest amount of money the show can offer. Jeremy won by Jumping over the $100,000 question, reasoning out the $250,000 and finding the right answer, and finally walking away on the $500,000 question. Scott and Jane Couper Win £137,000 on “The Exit List”
If you missed last night's episode of The Exit List, ITV's criminally mistreated quiz show airing Tuesdays at 8:00PM UK (3:00PM ET), you missed one hell of a game that you may want to catch up on. In the series fifth episode we saw what was just about as perfect a game as you're going to get. Contestants Scott and Jane Couper, from Milngavie, took an astounding £137,000 out of the Memory Maze and became the biggest winners yet of the Matt Allwright hosted game. Did We Get the First Male Quarter Millionaire on “Deal or No Deal” Today?
Since we more or less launched BuzzerUK, we've been curbing our series "The British are Better Than Us". However, that thought was the first that came to mind during today's Deal or No Deal. When Deal is good, few shows can top the excitement and energy Noel Edmonds, The Banker, and the show brings. In six years and almost 2000 episodes four young women, all in their 20s, have won the top prize of £250,000. No male ever has. Today's contestant, Rich, had his sight sets on the life changing top prize. The game was one of the best ever and something that no fan of Deal or No Deal will ever forget. Hillstrand Bros. of “Deadliest Catch” and Mike Rowe of “Dirty Jobs” Play “Millionaire” in February
Some of the most popular reality show personalities, used to already performing strange and intense tasks on their individual Discovery shows, are about to undertake another heart pounding task. Deadliest Catch's Hillstrand Brothers, Johnathan and Andy, and Dirty Jobs's Mike Row will be coming to New York to play Who Wants to be a Millionaire for charity. In February each of them will play for $1,000,000 for their charities. The Hillstrand Brothers will be playing for Seattle Fishermen’s Memorial on February 2nd and 3rd. Mike Rowe is playing for mikeroweWORKS Foundation on February 27th and 28th. “The Exit List” Debuts Tonight at 8:00PM UK on ITV
Tonight on ITV is the debut of a brand new, original game show. ITV will debut The Exit List at 8:00PM UK (3:00PM ET US). The show puts a pair of contestants in the Memory Maze. The further they go, the more money they win, but the longer the Exit List to leave the maze with big cash, is. There's over £100,000 to be won by each pair depending on how far they go. “The Bank Job” Finale: Could You Steal £460,000?
The finale of Channel 4's weeklong event game show The Bank Job aired this Saturday and came with a big twist. All other nights four contestants were narrowed to one, who went into the finale with the money they took from the vault. However, for the Saturday finale, two winners were crowned. A jackpot of £467,500 was available. How did they determine how the money was going to be given away? The classic Prisoner's Dilema was brought back. British readers may know it as Share or Shaft. Americans may know it as Friend or Foe. Regardless, it asked the same question: could you steal a total of over £460,000 from a person standing inches away from you. Bob Holness – 1928-2012
It has been reported today, with sad news that the game show presenter, Bob Holness has passed away at the age of 83. Bob is well known for hosting the Mark Goodson format, Blockbusters between 1983 and 1994 on ITV in the UK, as well as various other game shows on other networks throughout his life. Bob Holness, originally born in South Africa in 1928 moved to the UK in the early years of his life. Throughout three decades he worked on BBC Radio, working alongside Terry Wogan and Michael Parkinson. Whilst working certain shifts on the two main radio networks. We've got another big quiz show coming to television soon. ITV is debuting their newest, the memory-infused quiz The Exit List, on Tuesday, January 10th, at 8:00PM UK (3:00PM ET). The Exit List, hosted by Matt Allwright, puts two people into a maze. Each room is filled with cash, but each new room they enter adds more items to the "Exit List", which they must recite to win their bank. One room at the end is worth a big £100,000 for teams smart and brave enough to go that far. The show reached out to us with some pictures of the set that can only be described as incredible, a video preview of the show, plus what host Matt Allwright thinks about his upcoming gig. “The Chase” Returns to ITV; Check Out Some of the New Series
One of our favorites, ITV's The Chase, returns for a new series of episodes. Be sure to watch weekdays at 5:00PM (12:00PM ET US) The celebrity series they had a few weeks ago was great, but we're back to regular contestants trying to win tens of thousands of pounds by outsmarting one of the four Chasers, some of England's greatest quizzers. Just two days in and we've already had some memorable moments. Yesterday a contestant successful captured a nearly-record £66,000...only £1,000 off the record from a celebrity show. They've had their share of funny moments as well. “The Bank Job” Debuts to 1.2 Million Viewers
Channel 4's new quiz show The Bank Job debuted on Monday evening to 1.2 million viewers. The live game show which places contestants in a real bank and asks questions to win various amounts of money from the bank walls lost 800,000 viewers from its lead in, the special mash-up episode of The Million Pound Drop which featured regular host Davina McCall playing the game. Preview Next Week’s “The Price is Right” Celebrity Week
Next week is going to be an interesting one for the long running CBS game show The Price is Right. Drew Carey, George Gray, and the rest of the cast will invite celebrities to play along with regular contestants for the first time ever. Celebrities will be playing to win money for charity while the players will compete like always. They've got an interesting lineup ranging including Snoop Dogg, Neil Patrick Harris, and Jenny McCarthy. CBS released some previews of the upcoming week. “The Bank Job” Reaches Over Two Million Game Plays; Projects Over London
The Bank Job is coming January 2nd to Channel 4, and the George Lamb hosted quiz show is gearing up with some interesting ways to expose the show. First off, though, the online game hit a nice milestone. Not only that, Channel 4 is trying to bring some more exposure to The Bank Job with a series of projections across London. “Russian Roulette” Shows How a Drop-Based Show Should be Done
We're in our third straight year of game shows that involve dropping people for losing. We had Downfall, and then 101 Ways to Leave a Game Show, and now Who's Still Standing?. However, these shows, especially the recent NBC one mentioned last, makes us remember just how incredibly good Russian Roulette was and how far ahead GSN/Game Show Network was ahead of anyone else. It also does show us that GSN can create a show that rivals anything else out there if they put out effort. We've posted some of the show on Facebook, and we wanted to go into it more here. Your First Previews of “Who’s Still Standing?”
NBC is debuting their newest quiz show Who's Still Standing?, based on the Israeli format Still Standing, next Monday (December 19th) at 8:00PM ET. The show is a head-to-head trivia competition between a Hero and ten strangers, each of which (s)he faces one at a time. Beating all ten wins $1,000,000. We've covered the foreign versions rather extensively and given you lots of coverage of NBC's version, so you know most of what's to know about it. However, how about seeing it? We've got your very first look into the game play of the Ben Bailey hosted quiz show. If anything, it's leaving me slightly worried, though. “Millionaire” Launches “Broadway Giveaway Week” December 19th
Who Wants to be a Millionaire will celebrate Broadway next week with a special "Broadway Giveaway Week". Starting December 19th contestants will be asked one question each game about Broadway. If they answer it correctly they will win tickets to a performance of Mary Poppins or The Lion King for themselves and a member of the studio audience. In addition the two lead actors from Mary Poppins, Steffanie Leigh (Mary Poppins) and Gavin Lee (Bert), will kick off the week with a charity game. Their charity, The Actors Fund, is guaranteed $5,000 no matter what. Earlier this year Meredith Vieira had the chance to appear on Mary Poppins and play a chimney sweep in two dance numbers.
