Ratings Report: Everyone Down But “Jeopardy!” and “Trivial Pursuit”
Time for another ratings report. Nothing great to talk about for the week of May 17th, sadly. Every syndicated show was pretty down, some hitting season lows. All except Jeopardy! and, shockingly, Trivial Pursuit. First off, Jeopardy! was up 2% from the last week to hit a 5.4. It's not a lot higher than last week, but it's better than a loss obviously. Again, the real shocker was that Trivial Pursuit's ratings went much higher. The good news: the canceled syndicated quizzer hosted by 2009 Game Show Award nominee (best celebrity team) Christopher Knight went up a big 20%. The bad news: it's still at its usual .6. It's just not destined to move from that mark, is it? The worse news is that it's still canceled and basically was in Se

In this week's ratings, there's not a lot of good to discuss. Everything seemed to be flat or down except for Deal or No Deal which seems to be hanging in the same level for the last few weeks. But hey, stability is good. This week it went up 7% to a 1.6. It's still behind The Doctors which is at a 1.8, but those two have been battling it out for the entire season. They can battle more next season. Remember, season two of daytime Deal or No Deal is moving to Connecticut to save the budget, so it may be able to sustain itself longer with its current ratings over on the East. I don't think it would last long in Los Angeles with its current rating. NBC's series finale of Deal or No Deal only drew a 3.4/5 in its final two hour episode

Ratings are out for the week ending on March 29th. We've got some ratings for GSN's two new premieres that we're trying to verify also. But we'll start with Deal or No Deal. It was number one for a long time but dropped down due to The Doctor's rising popularity. The ratings have been consistently around the same level they rose to this week: a 1.8. It's up 6% from last week. Deal has still not officially been renewed for a new season. Some new episodes did tape this week and, again, we're hearing if they go well it's basically a lock to come back. It's pretty certain right now and I'll be stunned if it doesn't, but it's just missing that extra boost of confidence. Millionaire went up from its season low of a 2.2 to this week's 2

It's probably useless and means less than I'm putting into it, but I'm starting to get worried for the long-running quiz show Who Wants to be a Millionaire? hosted by Meredith Vieira. It's been stuck in the 2.4 rating area for a while. It went up a bit a week ago, but we're back down to a new low: a 2.3. It dropped 4%. Again, I don't think it's cause for alarm. It seems to always do this every season. But I'm really wondering what the deal is. Is it the age or are people not responding as well to the format changes? Disney-ABC pimped the hell out of the three $250,000 winners in March and it didn't seem to help at all. The format changes have barely done anything to the game and honestly have helped give away more money than ever s

Another week has gone by and more ratings for the syndicated game shows have gone in. The most striking of the ratings this week belongs to Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, which is still stuck at its 2.4 rating, which is the season low. It's been at this level for four of the past five weeks with basically no movement. It's a bit puzzling as to why this is happening. Are people not embracing the new-ish format of the show as well as they did originally? Or is it just other factors like age and other options out there. The format changes weren't remotely as game changing as first thought, so I can't see it doing that. We'll see how the show does during sweeps. It's got a few big winners coming up apparently as well as the popular wed

We've updated the ratings which were available for us that you would care about, which is essentially just the syndicated shows. Nothing was looking too fantastic during the week ending February 15th. In fact, the only show to stay even was Deal or No Deal, which for some reason has still not been announced for a second season yet. The daytime edition of the once-popular NBC game show held at a 1.8, one tenth of a point behind The Doctors which is currently holding the number one slot. Last we heard it was nearly positive Deal would be renewed and they were shopping it around, so I wouldn't put too much into not hearing anything official yet. It's just a bit shocking counting that we've heard from a few other shows hovering in the same

The great crew at Trivial Pursuit: America Plays supplied us with a ton of clips today. We've talked about the new Trivial Pursuit theme weeks they are doing during November, but here's a small refresher. I hope you're watching this week because it's Brady Week. Host Christopher Knight will host a week full Brady American team captains. And watch out on Friday because three Brady family members will be playing for charity. Should be fun. Here's yet another funny out take from this week. November 24th will be very cool. If you haven't played the Trivial Pursuit: America Plays game on Pogo, you should. It's very fun. A contest was held which I was happy to hear many of you took part in, and the winner of the contest got to be

It's a bit alarming and disappointing to see Trivial Pursuit hovering around 0.6 in the ratings and unable to gain any real ground. It's a fun little show that really should be watched more than it is. Maybe the show's November sweeps stunts will help out. If you're a fan of The Brady Bunch, be sure to check out next week. Along with host Christopher Knight, America's Team captains next week will be all Brady. It concludes on Friday with three Brady members playing the game, and it looks like Barry Williams, who played Greg, may be hosting for a bit. Here's a funny preview and blooper from the episode. Then, during the week of November 17th, is "Here Come the Judges" week, where some of television's most popular judges like Jud

Wow, rough news day today. I was holding out for something, but there's been literally no real news whatsoever today. But we managed to find some ratings for the new season. Some interesting figures here. I was really concerned about Deal or No Deal after the first week and some relatively disappointing numbers, but it's looking up. It's up to a 1.7, up 13 percent from last week. Looking like we have a real hit here, and a deserved one. Sadly no ratings for Trivial Pursuit yet, though. In the returning shows categories, nothing was really off the chart. Wheel of Fortune went up just three percent to a 6.6. Jeopardy! was also up (two percent) to a 5.6. Sadly the rest isn't so good. Who Wants to be a Millionaire? is down to a 2

Two stories for the price of one. We're going crazy. Seriously, we are; I got four hours of sleep last night because of various things. First off, with the extension of GSN Live to the 3PM ET to 6PM ET, new guests are needed. First up is Trivial Pursuit: America Plays host Christopher Knight. He'll be on this Thursday from 3:00PM ET to 4:30PM ET. I hate to go off on a tangent, but I have to. Some initially were a bit disgruntled that Mark Walberg, the host of the pilot, didn't get the actual show hosting job. Watching how Trivial Pursuit goes, does anyone else think it's better than Mark isn't hosting? It seems like it would have been a waste of his talents. Long time To Tell The Truth panelist Orson Bean visits the set from 12:

I've been looking forward to Trivial Pursuit, which debuted today in syndication, for a while. The rules seem fine but the hosting worries me. But more than anything, there hasn't been a long term successful non-primetime game show in syndication for a while, has there? Pyramid did OK but apparently not enough for Sony. I'd love to see, with Trivial Pursuit, if it's possible for a game show to debut only in syndication, not have a broadcast counterpart, and still be successful. And it's really going to depend on what you, the viewers, think. So, what do you think? Was the America's Team gimmick enough to keep you interested? Or did you just get bored with the relatively safe and non-inventive basic format?

We've got two more debuts today for you to enjoy. The first is Trivial Pursuit: America Plays. Pretty middling reviews so far, but from what I saw today it was enough to keep me interested. The host, Christopher Knight, just was stiff and hopefully he can change as the season goes on. Then again this was a hope last season for Crosswords's Ty Treadway and Temptation's Rossi Moreale. Coming up on CBS today is the new season debut of the show everyone loves to wet themselves about in fear, The Price is Right. So far very very few of the changes which made people worry to a point of psychotic breakdowns have been implemented which is good. If Drew can do as well this season as he did last season, it's sure to be great. He was honestl

Wwe have some information about Trivial Pursuit. If you've been following us at all over the past few weeks, you've noticed we've posted next to nothing about the show. And there's a very good reason. We've had nothing to post. No real information has come out since the host, Christopher Knight, was announced. It worries me a bit because I seem to remember a similar thing happening with Crosswords and Temptation. But who knows. Here's what we do know, though. Oddly enough the format seems to be remotely similar to the pilot, which was a bit bland if you ask me. The entire point of the game is "America's Team", which are people who have submitted questions to the show either online or in one of the casting locations. Questions in

Hey, this is good news! The new syndicated game show Trivial Pursuit: America Plays is getting an actual audience! Hooray, there's one step in the right direction for the show so far. Tapings will start on August 18th, so be on the lookout at OCA soon by clicking here. Apparently there's some more incentive to go to tapings as well. If you are in the audience, you get the chance to record questions to be part of America's team, and you can potentially be America's team captain for the day, which puts you in the spotlight more than the others. Plus, I'm sure the option of winning a couple hundred dollars, potentially over a thousand, for not even being a contestant is a pretty good deal. Having an audience is my "thing" as far as ga

I was really hoping that FOX wouldn't be completely unreasonable about Mark Walberg's The Moment of Truth duties, but I knew it was coming. It's not a rumor anymore, Christopher Knight has officially been named the host of the new syndicated game show Trivial Pursuit: America Plays, which debuts in national syndication this Fall. Check your local listings because they don't have a website yet showing which affiliates are taking the show. But hey, at least we got a press release. I can tell you the future website will be located here, at tpamericaplays.com. Again, there's nothing there yet. The show stars production this week so we'll find out more information soon hopefully.
