Pictures from the Set of “Family Feud”; Favorite Moment from Steve’s First Season? Thumbnail

Pictures from the Set of “Family Feud”; Favorite Moment from Steve’s First Season?

We're continuing highlighting all of this Fall's upcoming season premieres.  Family Feud kicks off with a new season on September 12th.  Though this current version of Feud has been going on since 1999 this is host Steve Harvey's second season.  In the first season alone he skyrocketed ratings and brought an entirely new comedic feel to the show.  Few game shows have been set up for social networking like Feud.  Over the past year the Facebook game and YouTube page have brought massive awareness to the once-stagnant franchise.  And beyond that, when is the last time you heard about a host switch for a game show working this well?  I can't think of another instance.  Click here to see some pictures of the set and tell us your favorite moment from Steve's first season.

Behind the Buzzer: Report and Interviews from the Set of “Scrabble Showdown”

One thing we, at BuzzerBlog, are incredibly lucky to be able to do is go behind the scenes of some your favorite game shows, or maybe some that are coming in the future.  A few months ago we were given the chance to visit the set of The Hub's Scrabble Showdown.  The new show pits a team of family members against another in a game of words to win a trip anywhere.  The series, hosted by Justin Willman, has a sneak preview on Saturday, September 3rd, at 4:30PM ET and officially debuts September 17th at 6:30PM ET.  Our correspondent, traveling Wheel of Fortune road host Marty Lublin, visited the set for us.  Click here to read exclusive interviews, see exclusive set pictures, and get more information about the show from his experience on set.

Format Update: “Celebrity Name Game”, British “Minute to Win It”, and “High Stakes” Thumbnail

Format Update: “Celebrity Name Game”, British “Minute to Win It”, and “High Stakes”

Good morning everyone.  Three different game shows we'll be able to see either shot their pilot or first episodes this past week.  The three shows are ITV/NBC's High Stakes (this version for ITV), ITV2's completely revamped Minute to Win It, and CBS's pilot of Celebrity Name Game, formerly Identity Crisis.  We've seen reports of all three and while one is a clunker, the other two could be good.  Celebrity Name Game, in particular, sounds great.  Click here to read about all three.

Set Report: “Who’s Still Standing” Largely Unchanged from Israeli Version Thumbnail

Set Report: “Who’s Still Standing” Largely Unchanged from Israeli Version

UPDATES: We got some corrected game play information from someone in the audience.Set news website Hollywood Junket was recently in the studio for some episodes of NBC's upcoming Who's Still Standing.  We've posted some videos of the original Israeli version, and we've come to learn it's a fast paced quiz show pitting one person against ten others, all standing on trap doors which open on wrong answers.  Again, it's nothing personal, but in the past decade or so America hasn't really been known as a haven for fast paced quizzes.  I'm shocked and somewhat happy to learn that the show has basically stayed the same.  Click here to read about Who's Still Standing.

Rules to GSN’s Updated “Lingo” Leaked Thumbnail

Rules to GSN’s Updated “Lingo” Leaked

The always helpful Hollywood Junket leaked the rules to the new version of Lingo, GSN's hit word guessing game now hosted by comedian Bill Engvall.  The former version, originally hosted by Chuck Woolery, was as simple as can be.  Guess five lettered words and get a bingo to earn points, and win the game and you answer words for two minutes to earn balls and win the jackpot.  Its simplicity could have harmed it.  It made few changes, ratings remained stagnant despite new episodes, and it faded.  Changes were made to the new edition as promised.  Click here to read all about the new rules. UPDATES: A few clarifications and changes were made. Look inside for the new information.

How ABC’s “Million Dollar Mind Game” Works Thumbnail

How ABC’s “Million Dollar Mind Game” Works

It's been a very long time since ABC taped their game show Million Dollar Mind Game, based off a popular Russian program.  Usually we hear some sort of feedback regarding the show soon after taping, but the only thing we heard about this one is how hard it is.  Couple that with the fact that it doesn't appear to follow the Millionaire mold completely, not to mention ABC basically ignores it, and it feels like it's going to be shelved.  I do get a lot of questions regarding how the show works, though.

I got an email from yesterday from someone who has seen one of the episodes, and that person let us in on the workings of the Vernon Kay hosted logic-based quiz show.  If the show makes it to air you'll know how it works, or if it doesn't air then you'll maybe know why and at least understand the game.  Click here to learn more about Million Dollar Mind Game.

Report: Fox Finished Taping “Million Dollar Money Drop” Thumbnail

Report: Fox Finished Taping “Million Dollar Money Drop”

This one is a shocker.  According to one audience report posted on Hollywood Junket, the American version of the hit UK game show The Million Pound Drop has already taped.  Fox's version, called Million Dollar Money Drop, apparently taped for two days and around five episodes a day. Kevin Pollack hosts. The Fox version gives a team of contestants fifty stacks of $20,000 (unlike the forty stacks of £25,000 in the original) to place on drop zones corresponding to answers. Wrong answers drop away. After seven questions (unlike the eight of the original), any money left over will be taken home. Read More for further details.

Set Report for Orlando “Family Feud” Thumbnail

Set Report for Orlando “Family Feud”

If you're a reader you inevitably know that Family Feud, the long-running syndicated game show hosted by Steve Harvey, is moving from its Los Angeles base to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.  We gave you an exclusive first look at the set yesterday.  That was courtesy of a reader, Brent.  He was nice enough to email me a report along with some other pictures of the updated set. He also gave a pretty glowing review of host Steve Harvey.  Read on to see what he had to say and for a cleaner image of the set.

First Look at the New “Family Feud” Set Thumbnail

First Look at the New “Family Feud” Set

One of our readers, Brent, went to the first taping of the brand new season of Family Feud today. The show moved to Orlando and got a new host, Steve Harvey. The show also got a new set. New is a bit of a stretch. Slightly updated is better. The board and family area and basic backdrop is the same. They just did away with the classic looking Face Off podium and family podium and made them slightly more modern. Also, the audience-in-the-round is gone. Check out a large image of it after the break.

“Pyramid” Pilot as Good as You Can Hope For Thumbnail

“Pyramid” Pilot as Good as You Can Hope For

UPDATED: NEW RULES ADDED. READ ON FOR MORE. The rules for the new pilot for Pyramid are out and, really, it's as good as you can hope for.  Info is, as always, from HollywoodJunket.com. It's essentially the classic Pyramid format.   Two contestants play a game of word identification against each other.  It's played in the same three rounds as the classic, where people guess up to seven words in 30 seconds.  In the second round you can win a prize by correctly getting all seven.  The winner plays the end game for $10,000.  The contestant has sixty seconds to get as many items from the final Pyramid as possible. Another game with two other contestants is played for $10,000.  The two winners will then face off against each other for one final game where the winner will play for $25,000.

“Pyramid” and “Late Night Liars” Updates Thumbnail

“Pyramid” and “Late Night Liars” Updates

Two updates for you right now. First for Pyramid. We're waiting for all the details of the Pyramid pilot which taped today to get in, but we're getting pieces. I'll update this post as stuff gets in. To start: Mo Rocca and Betty White were apparently celebrities for the taping. Probably two of the better ones they could have chosen. More information should be in soon. Late Night Liars will be getting an additional airing this week, Friday at 10:00PM ET on GSN. Also we have an interview with Meredith Vieira about how emotionally connected she gets to contestants on Millionaire.

Syndicated “Don’t Forget the Lyrics” May Be a Bit Too Streamlined Thumbnail

Syndicated “Don’t Forget the Lyrics” May Be a Bit Too Streamlined

Info courtesy of Hollywood Junket. As we previously reported, the new syndicated edition of Don't Forget the Lyrics! is coming this September to syndicated stations as a companion show to Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?. It's also going to air on MyNetwork and VH1. This new version, hosted by former Sugar Ray singer Mark McGrath, has been streamlined to fit the half-hour syndicated model much like Fifth Grader was. The issue is Lyrics may be just a bit too streamlined. The game play is the same as before. A song stops in the middle and you have to complete the next line of lyrics without messing up. The money chain on this version starts at $1,000 (which is the least someone leaves with) and goes to $2,500; $5,000; and finally $10,000. If the player can get the $10,000 Lyric correct he or she has the option to go for the bonus "Encore" category to turn that into $50,000. If a player misses a song at any time he or she isn't out of the game but the Encore category is gone.
