New “Catch 21″ and “Baggage” August 16th on GSN; Other Schedule Changes
Here's an alert about a few minor upcoming GSN schedule changes in the future. However, I first just want to note about new shows. Catch 21 comes back from a rather long break in a new time slot of 5:30PM ET, being the new lead-in for The Newlywed Game. Actually it probably has the nicest slot that network can give any show right now...sandwiched between the highly rated Deal or No Deal and the highly rated Newlywed Game. Alfonso Ribeiro returns as host, as does the dealer Mikki Padilla. The show will rerun at 8:30PM ET. I'm hearing 130 episodes have been ordered, which is the largest order GSN has ever given to an original series. Usual orders are 65 episodes, so this is a long six months of new episodes which is good news. Read about more changes after the break.

Fremantle's very good game show Downfall, hosted by the remarkable and equally very good Chris Jericho, has its season finale next Tuesday, July 20th. The show was scheduled to run six weeks but it's running five. We need to clarify the loss-of-an-episode and "season finale" thing here. A lot of people are thinking this is the series finale because the ratings haven't been incredibly good and, again, they lost an episode. I've heard it from multiple sources that after the reception to the first episode Fremantle went into the edit bay and re-edited the show. Namely, they sped the show up. That's why you are seeing one less episode. Read on for more information and commentary.

I'm back from New York, sorry for delays in my writing. Definitely wanted to make sure everyone knows about the updated schedule for the internet game show WebCamRiot. The game has been moved to Thursdays and a new episode will be played tonight at 7:00PM PT (10:00PM ET) and runs for two hours. It was previously on Wednesdays. We heard from some winners of last week's episode which was great. Be sure to have Skype and play along and you can be a winner as well. Click the links around the post to get involved.

Ratings for the week ending May 16th are in. The show that had the best week was Family Feud. Even this late in the season the show moved up 7% to a 1.6 rating. This is the season high. Great job by them. It's actually beating Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? by a decent amount.

“Minute to Win It” Continues This Summer Starting July 7th
Minute to Win It won't be going black after the end of the short season. NBC's modestly rated stunt show will air this summer starting July 7th through September as a lead-in for America's Got Talent on Wednesdays. The show has been airing Wednesdays for the past few weeks and getting the same ratings, in reruns, that original episodes get. This is after there are strong rumors that CBS has picked up The Cube, which Minute to Win It was based off of, for a summer run, which hasn't been confirmed yet. Hollywood Reporter had this

So GSN may suck at originals these days, but they do really well with the acquisitions. We've got schedules updated for the week of March 22nd and March 29th. Not much happens the week of the 22nd, but the 29th has some interesting changes. Lots of daytime changes starting, of all days, April 1st. It's like some sort of joke, but it's the same on April 2nd. April Fools? We were just kidding to be crappy for a few months? 9:00AM ET: Dawson Family Feud (replaces Match Game) 9:30AM ET: Eubanks Card Sharks (replaces Match Game PM) 10:00AM ET: Perry Card Sharks (replaces Family Feud) 10:30AM ET: The $25,000 Pyramid (same) 11:00AM ET: The $100,000 Pyramid (replaces Hollywood Squares) 11:30AM ET: Match Game (replaces

But onto game shows. Our friends at TheWrap have the post-Leno (boo) schedule. The one most of us probably care about is Minute to Win It. Minute to Win It debuts March 14th at 8:00PM ET on NBC. It used to be called Perfect 10 but NBC probably got sick of being asked why they started to show porn in primetime. The stunt show sees contestants trying to perform a number of stunts, each with a 60 second time limit, for up to $1,000,000. It's as close as we're going to get to UK's brilliant The Cube which amazingly even Saudi Arabia gets and we can't. We've really heard nothing about it so it's hard to pass massive judgement, but it looks to be remotely interesting at least so it's worth a peak.

We've just updated the GSN schedules through the end of January 2010. They've become just a tiny bit of a mess because of the inclusion of the new hidden camera show Hidden Agenda and Carnie Wilson's reality show. Well, inclusion is a bit of a nice way to describe it. It's sort of like a five year old shoving a piece into a puzzle that doesn't fit hard and they finally got it to stay in place a bit so they glued it in before anything bad happened. If you're a GSN viewer you're going to have to read the schedules daily to try to figure out what exactly will be airing since it's a fiasco. Again, Hidden Agenda will debut January 14th at 8:30PM ET and the Carnie Wilson thing at 8:00PM ET. The rerun schedules are confusing, so here they

GSN has two upcoming marathons for those of you two are classic fans and people who like the newer shows. We'll start with Christmas. On December 24th GSN will be showing a marathon of the Ray Combs edition of Family Feud 9:00AM ET to 6:00PM ET. Episodes will consist of a Winner Takes All tournament as well as several Christmas themed special editions. On Christmas Day you can see a Richard Dawson marathon of Feud. It'll go on from the same times; 9:00AM ET to 6:00PM ET. The first two episodes are definitely Christmas themed. The rest don't have any special labels so I'm not sure. Some of you are great at reading the PDF schedules so I'm sure you can decipher it. The New Year 2010 marathons are a bit bizarre. The entire week of

We've got a few changes coming to the weekday afternoon lineup on GSN for you. Super Password will be losing its weekday slots and be regulated to weekend mornings. At 11:00AM ET is now Love Connection, which GSN loves to pull out for some unknown reason constantly. The dating show is hosted by Chuck Woolery. 11:30AM ET will see Wheel of Fortune, which moves from its old 12:30PM ET slot. At 12:00PM ET is Match Game which replaces Jeopardy!. 12:30PM ET is the Richard Dawson edition of Family Feud. 1:00PM ET interestingly sees the daytime return of the Tom Bergeron edition of Hollywood Squares. These episodes will be from the Whoopi Goldberg years. Finally, at 1:30PM ET is Jeopardy!. Not sure why we're seeing Love Connection

There are really three shows I'm sure if you turned on your television at any time you'd almost find on every hour: Family Feud, Seinfeld, and Law and Order. We may be adding Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? to that mix. CMT has announced that they have acquired the Jeff Foxworthy-hosted series which I affectionately (?) call Millionaire f0r dumbasses. The show will premiere as a daily strip starting Monday, September 21st. As part of this deal, the show will produce special theme weeks with things obviously like Country Music Week or something like that. No word if these are the primetime reruns, the new syndicated reruns, or a mix of both. Also don't forget that MyNetwork is going to be airing the syndicated version every

As people have commented a couple dozen times since I've been in New York for the Who Wants to be a Millionaire anniversary, I figured I may as well say something about it. CBS has officially picked up a new hour-long edition of Let's Make A Deal for the daytime lineup. The show will premiere October 5th (check your local listings) and is hosted by Wayne Brady. "I am honored and ready to go; it is not every day that you get to be a part of a franchise like LET'S MAKE A DEAL," said Wayne Brady. "I think it is a perfect fit." "We are delighted to have LET'S MAKE A DEAL back on the air with CBS," said Monty Hall. "I know the audience is going to welcome the charming and engaging Wayne Brady as the new host." First off, I think Wayne

I haven't heard anything ratings-wise from GSN's Big Saturday Night since the debut, but given the updates to the BSN format, the fact that it's revamping in a few weeks, and now this schedule change, I assume it's not doing all that well. Starting this week, July 18th, 20Q and The Money List will be flipping spots on the schedule. This means The Money List will be featured at 8:00PM ET and 20Q at 9:30PM ET. All the weekday repeats are gone now as well.. Every weekday at midnight will resume to be the Regis Philbin edition of Who Wants to be a Millionaire and weekdays from 8:00PM ET to 10:00PM ET will yet again be Richard Karn's Family Feud, Meredith Vieira's Millionaire, John O'Hurley's Feud, and another Vieira Millionaire. So

If you don't get to see the really good half hour syndicated edition of Deal or No Deal, or if your market won't be carrying Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? when it moves to daytime in Fall 2009, you're in luck. MyNetworkTV, in an attempt to cut costs and revamp itself as a programming service, has picked up both game shows to air in primetime in Fall 2009, starting September 28th. Looks like we will have new game shows in primetime somewhere afterall. Both shows will air on Tuesday nights. An hour (two episodes) of the new Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?, hosted by Jeff Foxworthy, will air Tuesdays from 8:00PM ET to 9:00PM ET. After that an hour (again, two episodes) of Deal or No Deal will be seen at 9:00PM ET to 10:00PM
