Rumor Control: “Let’s Make A Deal” Renewed?

ossibly good news for all us Let's Make A Deal fans. Our sister site, Game Show News Net, is reporting that a Facebook post from Deal host Wayne Brady says that the show will officially be returning for a second season. The show currently airs in daytime along with companion The Price is Right and is the first daytime network game show in over a decade.

Late Night Puppet Game Show Now Casting Thumbnail

Late Night Puppet Game Show Now Casting

UPDATE: I am being told that this is indeed for GSN, as we originally speculated.  The show is slated to air this summer with a small order of half hour episodes.  Sources are saying it's the most expensive half hour show in GSN history.  They are working with Jim Henson's puppet company, but probably can't use the Muppets due to the Disney connection.  That would balloon the cost even more, not to mention tricky ownership issues.  Given the description I'm imagining just using puppets of various celebrity figures, but that last part is speculation. Also given that this is being billed as a late night show it looks like it won't be airing until much later, like around 11:00PM ET.  But older GSN watchers remember GSN had their most succes

Rumor Control: “Deal or No Deal” Coming Back to NBC? Thumbnail

Rumor Control: “Deal or No Deal” Coming Back to NBC?

I've got a pretty big rumor for you today.  We got an interesting email on Saturday.  Apparently there are targeted casting notices going out for Deal or No Deal.  Not the now-canceled syndicated edition either.  The notice specifically states NBC and specifically states a $1,000,000 top prize.  Again, this is a very targeted casting notice.  People are being specifically messaged on some talent hunting websites which means, if this is for real, they want people extremely quickly.  Having a full casting session would add a lot of time (and cost) to this.  The notice expires on Monday.  Also the notice is sent out by a legitimate verified big industry person from the Los Angeles area, so it's not some joke being pulled.  I won't post the not

Rumor Control: “The Cube” Greenlit by CBS; Now Casting? Thumbnail

Rumor Control: “The Cube” Greenlit by CBS; Now Casting?

Obviously we can't confirm anything yet and we doubt CBS will come out and tell us since they'll want to do a big press thing about it first, but some evidence is coming in that CBS has greenlit the hit UK game show The Cube for what appears to be a summer run. This would follow in the footsteps of previous CBS primetime game shows Power of 10 and Million Dollar Password. Some clues, beyond resounding good word from our sources and from audience reports, comes from recent casting notices.

Rumor: “Pyramid” and Hasbro’s “Catch Phrase” Favorites for CBS Daytime Thumbnail

Rumor: “Pyramid” and Hasbro’s “Catch Phrase” Favorites for CBS Daytime

Starting off the day with a pretty interesting and great rumor today. Our sources are telling us that the search for a new show to replace the canceled CBS soap opera As The World Turns is on, and many game shows are being looked at. In fact, looking at the number of games that are up for it it's looking pretty good that we'll get a third daytime game show, coming off of last year's debut of Let's Make A Deal. Before I list the shows, I just want everyone to clearly know that this obviously isn't confirmed by anyone and is from our incredibly trustworthy sources. The situation, I'm told, is very fluid and things can change easy. This is just what it's looking like in the game show department as of right now and what CBS has been presented.

News Flashes: Models, Politics and Two New GSN Shows Casting Thumbnail

News Flashes: Models, Politics and Two New GSN Shows Casting

Some new NBC game show is looking for some models. On the off chance you're a model reading a game show news website for fun you can click here and then find my phone number in the contact page to get ahold of me. But I'm not completely sure what this is for. At first I figure this has to be for Perfect Ten, NBC's new stunt show. But in the casting page it says this is from the executive producer of Deal or No Deal, who is Scott St. John, and he's not involved in Perfect Ten. So either this is some new show or they just got the information wrong. I'd guess the latter. It starts taping on January 15th through the 18th, and they are doing eight episodes at first.

Updated GSN Schedules and a Rumor About a New Show Thumbnail

Updated GSN Schedules and a Rumor About a New Show

We've just updated the GSN schedules through the end of January 2010.  They've become just a tiny bit of a mess because of the inclusion of the new hidden camera show Hidden Agenda and Carnie Wilson's reality show.  Well, inclusion is a bit of a nice way to describe it.  It's sort of like a five year old shoving a piece into a puzzle that doesn't fit hard and they finally got it to stay in place a bit so they glued it in before anything bad happened.  If you're a GSN viewer you're going to have to read the schedules daily to try to figure out what exactly will be airing since it's a fiasco.  Again, Hidden Agenda will debut January 14th at 8:30PM ET and the Carnie Wilson thing at 8:00PM ET.  The rerun schedules are confusing, so here they ar

CBS Cancels “As The World Turns”; Could We Be Seeing “Pyramid”? Thumbnail

CBS Cancels “As The World Turns”; Could We Be Seeing “Pyramid”?

We're starting to see what the appearance of Let's Make A Deal has done to change current daytime television.  CBS announced today that the long-running soap opera As The World Turns has been canceled.  The show has been on the air for over fifty years.  Rumors of As The World Turns's cancelation has been around for a year, as we previously discussed here.  It's the second soap opera canceled in a year.  The first was Guiding Light which as we know was replaced by the incredibly fun Let's Make A Deal.  I actually think a reason we're seeing As The World Turns go away is because of the relative success that Deal has been.  It hasn't lighted the world on fire but it's improved the overall and male ratings, though the women demos went down a b

Rumor Control: Fox Drops “The Cube”, “Perfect 10″ in January Thumbnail

Rumor Control: Fox Drops “The Cube”, “Perfect 10″ in January

While we just discussed Millionaire giving thanks for a nice increase of ratings which is definitely needed this season, we give a large un-thanks to Fox in Rumor Control today.  We can't get it confirmed but we have close reliable sources telling us that Fox's deal to bring the hit UK game show The Cube to America have fallen through.  I have absolutely no idea what would cause it, but to put it lightly it sucks.  This comes just a week or so after Fox announced a new game show, Our Little Genius, which will begin airing January 13th at 9:00PM ET in the post-American Idol time slot which is good news for them. So what it's starting to look like is the deal for The Cube, which would have gotten that slot, fell through and Fox placed anot

Rumor Control: British “Deal or No Deal” Gone from Channel 4 in a Year? Thumbnail

Rumor Control: British “Deal or No Deal” Gone from Channel 4 in a Year?

Interesting news from The Daily Mail in England.  I'm sure one of our readers from England can tell us exactly how believable they are since I haven't heard much positive response to this but it seems rather official given the quotes.  It looks like the British version of Deal or No Deal, which our daytime version is modeled after (and yet we still messed it up for the most part somehow), may be on its way out the door whenever the contract is up in 2011.  What's the reason?  The same thing that nearly had the US daytime version gone after the first season and what may hurt the a third season: production costs. According to The Daily Mail, Deal or No Deal costs £100,000 to make an episode.  That breaks down to £80,000 for production and

Rumor Control: “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” Gets a New Money Chain After All

Who Wants to be a Millionaire will apparently be receiving a new money chain after the first week of shows.  Nothing's confirmed and they have not used this chain in actual play yet.  We're being told that the new chain is as follows: $1,000,000 $500,000 $250,000 $100,000 $50,000 $25,000* $15,000 $12,500 $10,000 $7,500 $5,000* $3,000 $2,000 $1,000 $500 The new chain is fine by me, but tt's time for my favorite: Random Ass Theory Time.  To all future producers, your job is to make the show as entertaining and exciting as you can while keeping a budget and really trying to save whatever money you can.  The figures are larger, yes.  This should cause a small amount of more walk-aways this season.  But the big picture is $5

Rumor Control: GSN’s “Newlywed Game” Renewed for Second Season, Moves to LA Thumbnail

Rumor Control: GSN’s “Newlywed Game” Renewed for Second Season, Moves to LA

We've got a good "rumor" for all fans of GSN's revival of The Newlywed Game, and I'd place money on it.  Sources are telling me that the show has been renewed for a second season.  That's not a big surprise as the show had one of GSN's biggest debut weeks in the history of the rebranding from Game Show Network to GSN.  Not only that but the show's been near the top of the ratings chart each week so it's been popular overall.  The surprising part is that apparently the show will move from its season one base of New York City to its new home of Los Angeles for the next one.  It's a bit surprising seeing as Michael Davies and his production company Embassy Row, who do Newlywed Game, do all of their shows out of New York.  I'm hearing word that

Rumor Control: US Casting for French Adventure Game Import. Could it be “Fort Boyard” or “Intervilles”?

EDIT: Bother's Bar thinks this may be a different French format called Intervilles, which aired in England under the title It's A Knockout, which is another stunt type show.  Again, maybe someone who has seen it can explain more.  Here's the UKGameshows page on it, and below is a YouTube link. All you who live close to New York City, are physically fit, and have a passport may want to pay attention to this one.  Casting directors are looking for people with free time in the middle of July to take part in an all-expensive paid trip to France and be on a game show pilot.  The game show is a long-running adventurous game show.  They are basically asking for you to have a good personality, to be adventurous, and be physically fit.  The

Rumor Control: “Pyramid” Revival for CBS Daytime Now Casting Thumbnail

Rumor Control: “Pyramid” Revival for CBS Daytime Now Casting

I'm saying this is a rumor but just based on the description from the Craigslist post, I'd be willing to bet that the pilot for the CBS Daytime revival of Pyramid is starting to take shape.  Casting is going out.  The good news for us east coasters is that since it's an Embassy Row production, like all their shows it'll be taking place in New York City.  If you're in the tri-state area and want to be part of the pilot, click here to apply! No pressure, but the fate of daytime game shows rests on you.  OK, not really, but still play well. Again, it doesn't outright say that it's a Pyramid pilot, but put it all together.  It's Embassy Row, it's a revival of a classic hit show, and it's a major network revival.  The only show like that that
