What the Happened with Match Game’s Revival?
One of the most frequently asked questions over the years has got to be, "What's going on with the Match Game revival TBS was shooting?" Well it's not on the air so that's clearly not a good sign. The show wasn't picked up and TBS decided to go elsewhere and stick with their more popular programming like the Tyler Perry sitcoms or George Lopez's new talk show, both of which seem to be doing very well and were much better choices. The pilot they shot was probably one of the few pilots to essentially follow the classic format, down to the set, in a while. But even with that, and this is coming from a big Match Game fan, I just don't want to see it come back. It's an outdated format at this point.

A while back, when the abomination that was Temptation was still relevant, there was a story about writers and WGA West members picketing against Fremantle because of unfair conditions. I'm starting to get the feeling this is a reoccurring trend for the popular game show production company. Last night, WGA West members picketed against Fremantle Media outside of the American Idol stage because of unfair treatment during game and reality shows. "We've got men and women writing reality and game shows for a lot of very successful companies and not getting the basic protections -- pension, health insurance, credits and things -- that writers in this town routinely get," WGAW president Patric Verrone said. "We're hoping we can achieve that

For the next few weekend replays, we'll be matching GSN's Play it Back decades marathon. If you're watching today you'll be seeing some 70s shows like Dating Game, Match Game, and Let's Make A Deal. I have to stick with my favorite game show, Match Game, for today's clip. Here's probably the most infamous wrong answer in the history of the show, which also is my favorite moment. Of course if you're not watching today, you're watching some pretty good football games. My Steelers absolutely crushed Houston, didn't they?

GSN has a few marathons and specials coming soon that you might be interested in. First, on Labor Day, a Press Your Luck marathon will be coming your way. From 9:00AM to 7:00PM you'll see a large series of episodes which someone who knows the episode numbers would probably understand a lot more than I do. Next, on September 7th from 1:00PM to 8:00PM, GSN is dedicating themselves to all things 70's. From 1:00PM to 7:00PM will be a marathon of three very popular 70's shows: Dating Game, Let's Make a Deal, and Match Game. All episodes of Dating Game will be featuring host Jim Lange and will include such celebrities as Michael Jackson, Suzanne Somers, Ron Howard, and Pee Wee Herman. Michael Jackson on a dating show! Picking up women!

Edit: This is long enough to be a full post by now. It's being reported in a few places that the host of Match Game is former Mad-TV cast member and panelist of Comedy Central's CrossBalls, Andy Daly, is the host. We're waiting for official confirmation because this comes from a post on this forum, but it looks to be pretty set. Andy's a very fun person and was one of the few (very few) spots of light on the Mad TV cast, so I think he can definitely handle this. Plus he's really funny. And that's, you know, kinda needed for a comedy show. An audience casting notice for either a pilot or a regular taping of Match Game has appeared, and two of the featured celebrities are listed on it. The first two are actors/comedians Sarah Silverm

It took a while but TBS and Fremantle are finally casting for the pilot of the revival of Match Game. Again, this is just for the pilot so there's no word of a firm pick up just yet. If you play the game you get $250, and as an alternate you'll get $50 to $75. If your pilot episode airs, though, you may be given the full amount you won on the show which looks to be a top prize of $10,000. Appropriate top prize. Match Game is one of the few classics I really enjoy and will watch it when I can. I've seen episodes with a $20,000 top prize which seems like way too much for comedy matching game. $10,000 works perfectly. And hey, it's double what the 90s revival had. Casting directors are making sure to use the old standby of not casti

Speculation can end: the revival of Match Game is being developed for TBS, which opens up many more doors than on GSN. The revival is part of TBS's new announced development slate which includes a few sitcoms, sketch shows, and a late night revival of the classic comedy game show. Don't worry about it being late night. GSN's amazing I've Got A Secret revival was in late night and it was one of the classier (and funnier) shows in ages. This ended up being a lot better than I expected. It was either going to GSN, Comedy Central, or TBS. GSN couldn't afford some of the bigger names probably. Comedy Central, while I adore the station, would make it a tiny bit too "out there" and we'd never hear the end of how Comedy Central screwed up
