Sometime this summer, GSN will start a new “text and play” contest with the two Casino Night programs: High Stakes Poker and World Series of Blackjack. High Stakes Poker viewers will see two cards on TV, and they can text in on whether they want to play with those cards. World Series of Blackjack viewers can play with the show by hitting or standing on their own hand. Both shows will have texters competing against each other, with the top ten appearing on a leaderboard.
On a related note, a new Slingo game show in the Phillipines that launches on July 21 will be using something very similar to the above, but not much is known about this system, much less the game, as of now.
Today, GSN announced the renewal of their highest rated male 18-35 show, High Stakes Poker for a fourth season. Rich Cronin, CEO and President of GSN, stated that the show will tape in May at the South Point Hotel, Casino, and Spa in Las Vegas. GSN is planning on making this the richest season of the show yet, as competitors will bring up to a million dollars to the table. In fact, check out the last few episodes of this season (Tonight, April 2nd, at April 9th) as players bring over $4,000,000 to the table.
“We are very pleased with the success of HIGH STAKES POKER and the tremendous buzz it has generated,” said Cronin. “It is far and away the most talked about poker show. We plan on making HSP 4 the richest season yet with players bringing up to a million dollars of their own money to play in the biggest cash game on TV.”
GSN’s High Stakes Poker is also one of the top podcasts on iTunes, having over 350,000 views.
Much like GSN tried with Casino Night a while ago, the Network for Games will be airing interstitial programming on Mondays starting January 15th called “Vegas Night”. These little segments will air between GSN’s highest rated original “High Stakes Poker” and “World Series of Blackjack”. Comedian Ben Begley and “Amercial Idol” personality Kristin Holt will be reporting from Vegas, showing the city in all it’s glory plus offering poker tips. On the first night, the two will show you the Blue Man Group’s show at The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino. “Vegas Night” will continue every Monday until April 16th. “We want to super-serve our audience that tune in to our weekly casino related programming with all things Vegas. VEGAS NIGHT will provide the latest information and provide insightful poker tips from PokerStars.net, the world’s largest free poker tournament website. The hosts, Ben and Kristin, will lead viewers through the evening block and introduce unique Vegas characters, entertainers, venues and current events,” said Dena Kaplan, Senior Vice President of Marketing at GSN on making the announcement. “High Stakes Poker” starts its third season on January 15th at 9PM where the show will air repeats at 8PM and 10PM with “World Series of Blackjack” at 11PM ET.
GSN officially announced the third season line up of their smash hit television show “High Stakes Poker”. The new season, set to debut on Monday, January 15th, was filmed in the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, and continues to be hosted with live play-by-play by Gabe Kaplan and A.J. Benza. As a twist also, Mr. Kaplan will take a seat at the table while one of the players will take the role of host. “High Stakes Poker”, a one of its kind poker show, forces each competitor to buy in to the game with their own cash, ranging from $100,000 to $1,000,000. Players can put more money into the game after the buy in. For instance, last season saw a dramatic loss of a $575,000 pot from Daniel Negreanu to Gus Hansen. Here is the list of players this season.
Daniel Alaei
Doyle Brunson
Eli Elezra
Sam Farha
Jennifer Harman
Erick Lindgren
Daniel Negreanu

Todd Brunson
Antonio Esfandiari
Barry Greenstein

New GSN Poker Specials
Two new poker specials from GSN are coming next month:
UltimateBet.net Aruba Classic: December 8th at 10 PM EST
Over 500 entered, but only 6 will make the final table, where over $2.6 million is at stake. Phil Hellmuth, Annie Duke, and poker expert John Vorhaus commentate this tournament.
Best of High Stakes Poker: December 11th at 8 PM EST
Just like it says, it’s a best of show, plus there’s scenes added in that haven’t aired yet. Gabe Kaplan and AJ Benza are commentating this one, as always.
On Monday, November 13th, GSN will be doing an all-evening marathon of it’s second most popular series in the key
18-49 demographic ever, “High Stakes Poker” while promoting the new movie “Casino Royale”, which hits theaters on November 17th. “High Stakes Poker” is GSN’s critically and professional poker player acclaimed casino series in which mega stars of the game play poker with their own money starting with a buy-in of $100,000. Players can choose to take the money they have made at that point at any time, but the results of an all-in could be devastating, as players could lose hundreds of thousands of dollars on the turn of a card. This marathon, running on Monday, November 13 from 8PM ET to midnight will feature clips of the new movie “Casino Royale”. In return, in the most liberal definition of fair I have ever seen, the movie “Casino Royale” features a highstakes game of poker. GSN’s hit show “High Stakes Poker” will return for a third season in January. “High Stakes Poker” still needs a bit of Jennifer Tilly, in my opinion.
Edit: Sorry, I really messed up those dates. It’s been a long day, I apologize. It is fixed now.
