Info courtesy of Hollywood Junket. As we previously reported, the new syndicated edition of Don't Forget the Lyrics! is coming this September to syndicated stations as a companion show to Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?. It's also going to air on MyNetwork and VH1. This new version, hosted by former Sugar Ray singer Mark McGrath, has been streamlined to fit the half-hour syndicated model much like Fifth Grader was. The issue is Lyrics may be just a bit too streamlined. The game play is the same as before. A song stops in the middle and you have to complete the next line of lyrics without messing up. The money chain on this version starts at $1,000 (which is the least someone leaves with) and goes to $2,500; $5,000; and finally $10,000. If the player can get the $10,000 Lyric correct he or she has the option to go for the bonus "Encore" category to turn that into $50,000. If a player misses a song at any time he or she isn't out of the game but the Encore category is gone.

The Fall 2010 television season isn't too far away and some of your favorite game shows, including new comers, need an audience. These are mostly all Los Angeles based so if you're in that area you're in luck. The news most people are waiting for (and quite a few apparently on verge of a nervous break down to hear about given the comments everywhere) is Pyramid. The audience notice is out now, and you can get tickets here. As we reported a few days ago by us the taping will be for an hour-long show. I just want to make sure to warn those foaming at the mouth...the show hasn't been picked up yet. It's just a pilot. Don't jump to giant conclusions. I heard from multiple people a big reason the last pilot didn't sell was the tone was incredibly different from The Price is Right and they wanted something that was more of a companion show. I don't know what they are specifically looking for this time.

Don't we all love lists? Well, not really, but this one's pretty interesting. Television Business International recently compiled a list of the ten most popular game show formats of 2009. This wasn't based on their personal favorites or what the few random readers chose in a poll. This is all based off of which shows got the most eyeballs around the globe last year. A lot of the choices aren't surprises at all, but a few are really shocking.

It's my favorite time of year on this site. The boring summer where I barely have anything fun to offer is almost up and it's time for all your favorite game shows to come back for a new season of tapings. The casting is basically over but you can still be in the audience, which is a lot of fun. Many shows are leaving Los Angeles to go across the coast so if you're near the New York City area, there's lots of chances for you to get in the action. Not only that but we get lots of emails asking us about their favorite shows. Here's a list of the big game shows last year and if they are returning or not. Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?: If you're looking for the primetime million dollar version, I wouldn't count on it. It's

It looks like this cycle of primetime game shows is over because of, yet again among a few things, god awful scheduling by the networks. NBC's Deal or No Deal and FOX's Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? and Don't Forget the Lyrics will not be coming back Fall 2009 and, simply put, they are almost positively canceled. No official word has been given but you don't need official word in these cases. They are dying in the ratings, audiences are going away fast, and it's constantly shuffled and removed. They are gone. Deal or No Deal should be no shock. The ratings for the three week trial the past few Mondays have been beyond terrible. They've been pretty bad all season. Originally I placed blame on the fact that this season NBC

So yeah, there's been like nothing remotely newsworthy going on. All that's a tiny bit interesting is that Chuck Woolery is going to be a backup singer on Don't Forget the Lyrics! this season, and that Jeopardy! is being made for the Playstation 3. Beyond that, really nothing is going on. But we do have a few notes. *My Family's Got GUTS starts tonight at 8:00PM ET on Nick. Check if out if you get the chance; it looks to be interesting. It doesn't seem like they screwed it up too badly which is a miracle for revivals today. *Later this week we'll be having a post about some new strategies that future contestants on Who Wants to be a Millionaire? this season might want to check out. *Our Grand Slam feature is still happening

It's upfront week and not a lot of game show news has been going around. We've really been over-saturated in primetime and it's time for a short break, which is good because if we keep getting shows like Set For Life, I give up. Anyway, FOX announced their schedule and all three of their game shows survive into the Fall 2008 schedule. They've really benefited from using safe formats with relatively interesting concepts that generates a lot of water cooler talk. First off, if you're used to watching Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? and Don't Forget the Lyrics! on Thursdays, get ready to make a change. The night of punctuation moves to Fridays, with Fifth Grader? at 8:00PM ET and Lyrics! at 9:00PM ET. I still can't stand Fifth

We really don't talk about FOX's singing game show Don't Forget the Lyrics! much because, quite frankly, there's rarely anything ever to talk about with it. I'm a bit surprised when I get the show's ratings as I keep forgetting it's on. However, the show is pretty popular and with so many people wanting to try out, FOX is creating an online game where you can become a contestant and sing with host Wayne Brady. Part of the Lyrics game allows players to upload videos of them singing various songs, which will then be browsed by FOX who can choose contestants from this database. "This is a natural extension for us as we continue to explore ways to maximize the value of our show brands," said Max Benator, head of digital media for RDF

I went a bit lazy, but the ratings page has a massive update. The Singing Bee keeps slipping down, as it's now at 1 VS 100 new episode levels. However, Don't Forget the Lyrics! and Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader? keep going up. Also, Without Prejudice? had a very strong debut, doing equally as well as GSN projected. GSN's ratings for June stayed basically the same, though. Syndicated ratings had barely any change as well. Click here for the page, or click the link in the top right corner, which is
