Dave Networks and Fremantle Launch “Price is Right” Official Site

First, I just want to go on record and saying how amazing Drew Carey is at hosting The Price is Right.  I’ve never been a fan of the show really, but I’m actually finding myself wanting to watch because of how fun the show is now.  Makes me wonder what we could have had for years if it wasn’t for Barker staying on for far too long.  I always felt he was unbelievably overrated.

Fremantle and Dave Networks have launched a brand new official The Price is Right site, which you can visit by clicking here.  You can also just go to PriceIsRight.com.  On the site, there are video clips, games, Drew’s video blog, and a social network to communicate with other Price fans.  It’s incredibly nice and a long time coming.  Be sure to check it out, it’s well worth your time.

By the way, I heard this through the grapevine during some chat with Drew Carey on a Price is Right fan site:

10/23/2007 20:43 mrbrown2195: Hi Drew! Tony (America’s self-declared ladies man) here from Baton Rouge, Louisiana… you’ve been doing a great job so far and I’ve been very impressed. My question for you is : Have you been reading reviews of your performance as “The Star of The Price is Right” on the Internet?
10/23/2007 20:43 DrewCarey: only the good ones. :)
10/23/2007 20:43 DrewCarey: actually, I’ve tried to skip reading anything positive or negative, although I did check out the boards here and on buzzerblog.

How cool is that?  We’ve been huge fans of Drew since his sitcom first started and even more with Whose Line is it Anyway, so we’re incredibly honored.  Thanks so much, Mr. Carey.

“1 VS 100″ Tabletop Game: A Must Have

iToys recently supplied Buzzer with two copies of the 1 VS 100 electronic table top game. The recent track history of game show home games haven’t been that great (See the Who Wants to be a Millionaire? plug-and-play game plus the Deal or No Deal games), so I was a little nervous. I couldn’t have been proven any more incorrect. The game is rather small and easily fits on any table. The controller is also easy to read and large enough to not press another button accidentally. The cover so opposing players cannot see what you press also works terrificaly. One of my greatest joys about this game is that, to my total shock, it follows the rules of the television show to perfection. It’s the $1,000 to $10,000 money scale; you have to answer 3 questions at $1,000 before you get Escape number 1 and 2 questions at $2,000 for Escape 2. The questions are written exactly like NBC has them. They start off easy and get harder as they go. When I say they are written like NBC has them, they are worded in a way where you would have to know more than one thing to know what the right answer is. The three Helps, (Ask, Trust, and Poll the Mob) work like the show. When you only have 10 left, you are given Sneak Peak as well, where you can see the show. You can leave with your money at any Escape, but a wrong answer divides your money among the remaining mob members.

I was afraid of the LCD screen when I first opened the box. I half figured for it to be dim and not able to read a word. However, the text is readable, the screen is backlit, and it scrolls at the perfect speed so you can see the question/answers without waiting all day. The game even uses actual music from the show, including the Help music, the show’s main theme, and the show’s sting. The audio file is compressed into a lower quality, obviously, but I was shocked just how recognizable it was. What was really interesting was when you play the game with more than one person, when you stop with the money, you continue to play the game and you have to pretend you are still playing. That way your opponent doesn’t know when to stop.

Honestly, the only complaint I have is that it takes a huge amount of batteries: 4 AAs and 3 AAAs. However, for the high quality of this product, it really doesn’t matter. I’m horrendously cheap and picky, but this game blew me away. If you’re a fan, there’s no excuse not to own this. It’s fun, it’s exciting, and it’s worth the money.BUY THE 1 VS 100 TABLETOP GAME FROM TARGET

BuzzerBlog Appears on New Jersey Radio on Tuesday!

Hooray, we’ve finally been recognized for something beyond my needlessly evil opinions. I will be representing BuzzerBlog on New Jersey radio station WSNJ-AM to talk about the current slate of game shows, some older ones (not too far back, though; I’m not that old), and the future of game shows on Tuesday, March 6th, from 5:05PM ET to 6PM ET. In addition, and I guess we can call this an official announcement, BuzzerBlog will be exclusively promoting Merv Griffin’s new game show “Let’s Play Crosswords” on the show, and we will be doing many more exclusive promotions and other things involving the show thanks to our good friends and new contacts at Program Partners. If you’d like to join in the crowd and listen, check out their website for more information. Yes, you can listen online.

In addition, BuzzerBlog will be giving away the Best of Match Game DVD set on the show, so you can call in to talk to me and the hosts as well as enter to win the DVD set. Be sure to check it out, I’m sure it will be fun. This is all happening this Tuesday, March 6th, from 5:05PM ET to 6PM ET.

Edit: Sorry, they sent me the wrong date originally. It is Tuesday, March 6th from 5:05PM ET to 6:00PM ET.

Reason for No Updates Yesterday

I’d like to apologize for the lack of updates yesterday. Our parent set, FLASHGames², went through site updates and it was not a good idea to do things on here, as it might mess up the site and wouldn’t be read. Updates will continue until next Thursday. On Thursday, unless something breaking happens, there won’t be updates until later that weekend. Thanks as always for reading. You guys are what makes BuzzerBlog what it is, and we truly appreciate you coming back and reading. Thanks.

By the way, stay tuned for the FLASHGames² Holiday Giveaway coming up! We have some really exciting prizes for you

GSN Promotes Casino Royale with “High Stakes Poker”

On Monday, November 13th, GSN will be doing an all-evening marathon of it’s second most popular series in the key 18-49 demographic ever, “High Stakes Poker” while promoting the new movie “Casino Royale”, which hits theaters on November 17th. “High Stakes Poker” is GSN’s critically and professional poker player acclaimed casino series in which mega stars of the game play poker with their own money starting with a buy-in of $100,000. Players can choose to take the money they have made at that point at any time, but the results of an all-in could be devastating, as players could lose hundreds of thousands of dollars on the turn of a card. This marathon, running on Monday, November 13 from 8PM ET to midnight will feature clips of the new movie “Casino Royale”. In return, in the most liberal definition of fair I have ever seen, the movie “Casino Royale” features a highstakes game of poker. GSN’s hit show “High Stakes Poker” will return for a third season in January. “High Stakes Poker” still needs a bit of Jennifer Tilly, in my opinion.

Edit: Sorry, I really messed up those dates.  It’s been a long day, I apologize.  It is fixed now.
