ABC Renews “Shark Tank” for a Full Fourth Season
Good news for the world of unscripted television today. ABC has renewed what is arguably the best and smartest reality show on TV today, Shark Tank, for a fourth season. The network has ordered a full season of 22 episodes for the 2012 television season. Shark Tank has been the "little show that could". It started pretty meager in the viewing department and got a few renewals for its low cost, but it's built a steady audience despite some irregular scheduling patterns by ABC. I've been a fan since day one and I'm very happy to see it keep going. It's nice to see a low key, mellow, smart reality show can survive. I had my fears and I'm glad I was wrong. I apologize about the lack of updates yesterday. Long, stressful day. However, everything's OK and we're back with some interesting news. We're seeing a few revivals sprout up recently. Add another one to the list. Vulture has learned that Fremantle has acquired the rights to the classic music game show Name That Tune. It's gone through many versions, dating back to the 50s but made more famous in the 70s with a $100,000 edition. Even if you don't remember the show or never watched it, I'd wager you have heard the phrase, "I can name that tune in X notes," somewhere. Fremantle is attempting to reboot the format for the current generation, and given their successes with reboots of The Price is Right, Let's Make A Deal, and Family Feud, plus successes in the music genre with American Idol, I'd say if anyone can do it, it'll be them.
