“That’s The Question” Season 2 Set

One issue I have with some of GSN’s originals is the general lack of a decent set.  This can really mainly be blamed on a lack of big bucks like other networks have, but come on.  Chain Reaction looks like a copy of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? and Camouflage had the smallest set I’ve ever seen.  However, That’s The Question might go down as having the best and most useful set since Russian Roulette.  Take a look at some of these thumbnails.  Now that they have a good set and really good writers, I can’t see a reason why this season won’t be short of amazing.  Be on the lookout for the second season of GSN’s amazing That’s That Question on September 11th at 9PM ET on GSN.

The New “Price is Right” Doors

If you’ve been looking around at basically any game show forum, you may be one of the senders of the many many many emails regarding the new The Price is Right doors and logo. All in all it looks incredibly nice looking; better than I’ve seen in my time. Take a look at the picture below, courtesy of someone from Facebook.

“Deal or No Deal” Set Changes for New Season

With a new season of NBC’s Deal or No Deal comes a few set changes, as with most shows on television.  Interestingly, this season isn’t that much.  We mainly have a few lighting changes, including some white light on the model’s stairs, new colors for their stairs, and new neon lighting below the Banker’s booth.  The biggest change seems to be an all new Banker booth.  The images we are providing come from the Donald Trump season premiere game on September 17th.

Early Look at “Camouflage”

GSN recently supplied us with a copy of their new original word game Camouflage, and I am happy to say that they have redeemed themselves after Chain Reaction. We’ll get into the superfluous information and praise/complaints in a bit, but here’s a very quick look into the rules.A Scrabble like clue is given and the answer is literally before the contestants eyes, spelled correctly from left to right. However, extra decoy letters are thrown in making it tough to locate the answer. A letter drops out every second, and with each removed letter the point value drops by 10. The sooner a contestant buzzes in and answers correctly, the more points they get. If a contestant answers incorrectly, no points are given or taken away. One puzzle in each round is deemed the “Double Camouflage” puzzle. After someone answers correctly, they are given the chance to double their points if they get another puzzle from the answer given in 10 seconds. There is no penalty for wrong guesses, and they have unlimited guesses in the 10 seconds. Click below to read more. Continue reading ‘Early Look at “Camouflage”’

“Without Prejudice?” Pictures

GSN released the first pictures from their new series Without Prejudice?, which is sure to be amazing. Click below to see the first pictures released to the public. This is our new photo gallery system. Click the thumbnail to increase it and then click the X to close it. We do this so you can get a larger copy of the picture and a better look. What do you think of the look of the show? It’s perfect from my viewpoint. The show is modern while keeping the tense and boardroom like feel to it. I can’t think of a better set in my mind.

Update on the home game front

1a. This might quell the cancellation rumors of 1 vs. 100. A new 1 vs. 100 jigsaw puzzle/game is available in stores. (I will let the idea of a game show jigsaw puzzle soak into your head.) Since I got my federal tax refund last night, I decided to spend $10 on the puzzle. I found mine at a local Toys ‘R Us. There are 100 pieces to the puzzle, and each piece has a perforated circle with a number from 1 to 100….so that would make 200 pieces. The idea is to put the puzzle together and play 1 vs. 100 with the puzzle. For each right answer, you remove certain numbers from the puzzle. After 15 or so questions, you eliminate everybody and win. It’s different. University Games deserves an A for effort. A jigsaw puzzle?!

1b. While on the topic of 1 vs. 100 and putting the kibosh on cancellation rumors, a simple Froogle search at Google returned the following 1 vs. 100 home games which should be released by July: A box game, a tabletop game, a DVD game, and a Jakks Pacific Plug and Play game. If you always wanted to see how Bob Saget looks in 8-bit glory, it appears you’ll get your wish.

Deal or No Deal DS box art2. As if there aren’t enough home versions of Deal or No Deal, there’s another to add to the mix–the Deal or No Deal game for the Nintendo DS. Very little is known about this game right now. GameStop lists the DS Deal for $29.99, to be shipped on June 5, 2007. I think Deal would make a fun game for the Wii, with Miis on your system taking the place of some models. When I find more info for the DS Deal game, it will be posted here.

RECAP: Vas o No Vas, 10/8/2006

Host: Hector Sandarti
Network: Telemundo

Vas o No Vas is similar to a little game which is quite popular right now called “Deal or No Deal”. There are some small twists, the first of which is three qualifier questions. The fastest person in gets rung on a cell phone. This happens twice, to determine finalists. Since I don’t know Spanish, I won’t attempt to give the questions.

In the first qualifier, Fernando Mahaluf of Las Vegas was the winner. For qualifier #2, the winner was Ralph Gonzalez of New York City. The two gentlemen competed in a final round, where whomever got two questions right first plays for the big bucks. Fernando got the first two questions correct, giving the chance at a quarter million dollars…but first, a temptation (La Tentacion) in the form of a Ford truck. Fernando says “no vas” on the truck. (I guess if Fernando took the truck, Ralph would play. Instead, Fernando plays.)

After the models do their thing, it’s time for Fernando to pick a case. He chooses #12.

The rounds are similar to the NBC version–6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 for every round after the fifth. The layout of the board is similar to the NBC version but with lower stakes:

$0.01 // $0.25 // $1 // $5 // $10 // $25 // $50 // $75 // $100 // $200 // $300 // $400 // $500 // $1000 // $1250 // $2500 // $5000 // $7500 // $10,000 // $20,000 // $30,000 // $40,000 // $50,000 // $100,000 // $125,000 // $250,000

Game play results and super small vidgrabs from the show are under the cut.

RECAP (sorta): “Make Me Famous, Make Me Rich” 10/7/2006

(Note: This will not be a regular feature. I want to bring attention to this new offering in the Buckeye State and to show how it’s played.)

Host: David McCreary (cut from the same cloth as Dylan Lane)

There are 31 contestants each week–1 returning champion and 30 new players. To start, 15 of the 30 new contestants play. They’re broken into five teams of three players. As is the case with every lottery game, the object is to attain the most cash. In this game, it’s done on two separate boards each with 20 squares. A team is chosen at random. Each team’s members vote to play the safe board (less money and less zero values) or to take the risk (5 of 20 squares have zeroes to start, but the money is larger). The middle player of the team hits a spin button. The board “spins” and chooses a random value from whichever board is chosen. The dollar amount is added to the team’s total. Another random team is chosen to participate. This continues until all the teams have played a round. In rounds 2 and 3, the money values go up on both boards, as do the number of zero values. Whichever team has more money after 3 rounds advances and splits their winnings three ways. A second game with the 15 remaining new players is done. Every contestant is guaranteed $1000.

The six winning team members from the first two games each choose a card from a set of six. Four of the cards are worth nothing. One card is worth $5000. The other is worth $10,000. Each player picks one of the numbers and has the opportunity to steal cards from other players. The $5000 card is revealed. Each player has the opportunity to keep their card or swap it with a random card, including possibly the $5000 card. After the round of swapping, the holder of the $5000 card can either leave the game with the $5000 or steal someone’s card. The person whose card is taken in the swap receives $2500, and $2500 is added to an Extended Play jackpot. (Extended Play tickets are $2 instant tickets, versus regular tickets which are $1.) The people who have nothing are revealed randomly one-by-one. The $10,000 holder advances to play the champ for $50,000.

The end game has the champ and the last survivor of the 30 new players picking balls from a container. There are 10 balls–7 red, 2 white, and 1 green. Whomever picks either a white or green ball first wins $50,000. If the green ball is picked and that player got on the show via an Extended Play ticket, that person wins $50,000 plus whatever is in the aforementioned Extended Play jackpot. The returning champ is given the opportunity to pick first or second. From there, the players continue picking balls until a winning ball is pulled. There is no limit on how long someone can be on the show. For those who care, your first winner is a gentleman named Adam from Twinsburg. Adam won $63,116 and will return next Saturday to pick more balls and defend his title.
