Photo Gallery for ABC’s “Downfall”

Less than a week until ABC debuts the newest million dollar quiz show Downfall.  You can see it Tuesday, June 22nd, at 9:00PM ET.  The show can't be more simple.  Answer trivia questions against a clock to save prizes (and yourself) from literally falling off the edge of a skyscraper.  It looks fun, terrifying, tense, entertaining, and hysterical.  In other words it looks like anything you could really ask for a game show.  ABC loaded up their press site with some pictures from the show so you can see what you're in for. One thing is the money chain.  The money will progress $5,000 to $10,000 to $25,000 to $50,000 to $100,000 to $250,000 and then the top prize of $1,000,000.  You can also check out what appears to be a category board.

“Minute to Win It” Picture Gallery Thumbnail

“Minute to Win It” Picture Gallery

We're getting pretty close to the debut of the newest primetime game show. NBC's Minute to Win It will be starting March 14th from 7:00PM ET to 9:00PM ET. It's been promoted pretty well during the Olympics, so I can see it getting a pretty decent turnout on the first episode at least. NBC released pictures of game play and the set today. The gallery is below. How do you make an audience seem larger? Get a giant video monitor at the top of the set, behind the audience, and put a picture of the audience section up there. At least it's better than The Moment of Truth using blow up dolls for audience members sometimes.

Picture and Small Audience Comment from Set of “Minute to Win It” Thumbnail

Picture and Small Audience Comment from Set of “Minute to Win It”

Here's a quick Twitter picture Guy Fieri took on the set of his new NBC primetime game show Minute to Win It. I've got some early audience reports in my inbox and from what I'm reading thus far the "household chore" element has been completely removed and it is a total copy of the great British game The Cube. Be on the lookout for audience reports coming in shortly. Here's a picture.

Complimenting Fox’s “Our Little Genius” Thumbnail

Complimenting Fox’s “Our Little Genius”

So as readers know I have a fun habit of, well, talking crap on shows that look awful to no end.  And they usually end up being awful, but some don't.  Unfortunately most of these shows tend to be on Fox which for some reason doesn't have the best out-reach program unlike every other network, so I wasn't exactly shocked to find out I wasn't invited to the Our Little Genius teleconference recently held.  And in the holiday spirit I want to reach out and say, "Hey, you may not suck that bad," by listing some positive things I've noticed from the show.  We've also got some set pictures which you can find throughout the article. 1: I do like the idea that the family member has control of the game, not the player.  Now I know this was

“Jeopardy!” Debuts New Set on September 14th Thumbnail

“Jeopardy!” Debuts New Set on September 14th

It seems that every syndicated game show this season is getting some big change.  A good deal of these have to deal with game play changes.  But with Jeopardy!, there's no need to change the game.  The only thing being changed this season is the set.  If you watched the Tournament of Champions in season 25, you saw a preview of the brand new set.  It comes to full-time use starting Monday, September 14th, in its season debut.  The set is much more open than before and specifically designed for HD, while the previous one basically had to adapt however they could for HD.  The Jeopardy! board is outfitted with flat screen monitors, as well as a new one to the side of host Alex Trebek to signal the Final Jeopardy category.  The contestants

Drew Carey Tweets Season 38 “Price” Changes Thumbnail

Drew Carey Tweets Season 38 “Price” Changes

Drew Carey joined the blogosphere this weekend, with a new blog and Twitter account.  Between the two, we've gotten word of some very "big" changes to Price for the upcoming 38th season.  First off, the season premiere (EDIT: this episode will air on September 21) will feature former Drew Carey Show colleague Craig Ferguson, now the host of the Late Late Show.  Also, there are some major and minor upgrades to the set.  First, the one bid displays are going "unpasteled," and getting LED lights inside of them.  The lights on the edge of the stage for Drew's recent Million Dollar Spectaculars are present for the premiere, but as of right now are not known to be permanent for the season (but my guess is they are).  But the most obvious change

Thank you, everyone, for sticking around while I was in Los Angeles for GSN's 2009 Game Show Awards.  We've got a lot of red carpet pictures, chats with celebrities, and more to show you through the GSA debut on June 6th at 8:00PM ET.  But for now, we've got some pictures of the actual action to show you, courtesy of GSN.  Check it out.  Stay tuned through the next month for lots of insider information about the show.

If you're a Drew Carey Show fan like I am, you may be excited to hear one of the gags The Price is Right has in store for April Fool's Day.  The character Drew Carey's arch nemesis, Mimi Bobeck, will be appearing on the show as a guest model on Wednesday, April 1st.  Here are some pictures to show you what to expect.  I'm definitely checking out this episode; it looks extremely funny.  Also below are a few pictures from the country music

Bob Barker on the Set of “The Price is Right”

Thanks to Mr. Brown for forwarding us this link.  I think many of you may be interested in this.  Here are a few pictures of Bob Barker on the set of The Price is Right which will air on April 16th.  We originally published, from a release sent out, that Bob appeared in the Showcase Showdowns.  He actually appears in the Showcases.   This seems to be a pretty common mistake.   More pictures can be found by clicking this link.  All pictures courtesy of Faded Youth

Game Show Set Designs from Ben The Designer Thumbnail

Game Show Set Designs from Ben The Designer

I found a cool link for all of you.  As I move further into the production area of television, the more I get interested in the total package of the show, including the set.  It's neat to see them in person because stuff looks way different on television than it does up close and personal.  In looking for pictures of something completely different I found a set designer on Flickr who is posting his models and set pictures up there for all to see.  Right now in the game show department is Dirty Rotten Cheater, The Big Spin, some pilot called So You Think You're Funny, and most exciting to me some Russian Roulette set pictures, including the pilot.  A few are shown below.  Here's the link to see all of his game show sets..

The Teague Family Wins $60,000 on “Family Feud” Tournament

Congratulations to the Teague family of Fresno, CA, who walked away with an impressive $60,000 last week. The Teague Family includes Bob, a sixth grade teacher; cousin John, a communications tech and coach; son Keith, a student; son Kevin, a student; and son Kyle, a student.  Here's a few pictures of the family with their big $60,000 which, judging by today's economy, is just about as valuable as a real $60,000 check.  Don't forget to check out this week, with Divorced Couples week.  It's always extremely amusing, so don't miss it.

A Marriage Proposal on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?” February 17th Thumbnail

A Marriage Proposal on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?” February 17th

Apparently the trend right now in game shows is having a marriage proposal whenever you can.  It sort of goes with the whole, "All the cool kids are doing it; why aren't we?" argument.  However, Who Wants to be a Millionaire? is having a first.  Next week, while guest-host Cat Deeley sits in for regular host Meredith Vieira, contestant Nick Santillo will propose to his girlfriend, Millie, on the set of the hit syndicated quiz show.  Take a look at some pictures of it at the bottom of the story. Short story, but we do have a bit more info on Millionaire happenings.  The show's website has been hyping up a contestant going for a lot of money in around three weeks.  Check out the clip by clicking here.  No idea what specifically happens

“Wheel of Fortune” Celebrates 5,000 Episodes Thumbnail

“Wheel of Fortune” Celebrates 5,000 Episodes

A lot of game show milestones have happened over this past television season, and quite a few for Wheel of Fortune especially.  It's still number one in syndication, getting ratings that primetime networks would dream of having on such an unbelievably regular basis.  They added a million dollar top prize which was won in the first five weeks in some act of witchcraft by contestant Michelle Loewenstein.  Wheel can now add celebrating the 5,000th episode to its roster.  The number one syndicated game show, hosted by Pat Sajak and Vanna White, celebrated the 5,000th episode on Janaury 15, 2009  at Sony Picture Studios in Culver City.  Here are some pictures of the festivities.   Photos courtesy of Carol Kaelson/Sony

CES “Jeopardy” Podium Set Up

This should be our last post with pictures of the new Jeopardy! set that's currently being used for the CES expo this week.  We finally got our hands on a picture of how the podium area will be set up.  It'll be basically a big widescreen TV placed vertically with buzz-in signaling lights that are so much easier to see.  Take a

A Closer Look at “Jeopardy!”’s New Setnew

We still don't have official press pictures, but we're finding new images giving you a much better look at the set.  You can find two wide shots of the host background in the post below.  Here you can now see what the contestant area looks like along with a small look at the new podia.  Also, you get a fantastic look at the new board.  I don't know; this set isn't doing that much for me.  It'll obviously look different on television with everything ready to go, but it looks a bit barren right now, doesn't it?  We'll see how it looks on TV and in Los
