“Million Dollar Money Drop” Adds Interactive Game for Season Finale Thumbnail

“Million Dollar Money Drop” Adds Interactive Game for Season Finale

We've had a lot of criticism regarding the Americanization of Million Dollar Money Drop, but at least they seem to be seeing complaints, seeing how the more popular versions of the show do their games, and bringing in elements to improve.  Many shows say, "Screw it," but they aren't yet at least.  They've already sped up the game considerably which has helped it tremendously.  Now the Fox game show will be adding an interactive game.  You'll now be able to place your virtual million dollars on the drops and play along with the contestants.  Click here to learn about the game and find out how to play it today live.

Ratings Report: “Money Drop” Stabilizes

We're now completely out of any form of 2010 ratings for syndication.  Updates for both last night's Million Dollar Money Drop and all of syndication for the week ending January 9th are in.  There's some relatively decent news for Money Drop.  Its ratings seemed to have stabilized and the viewers who like it are sticking with it.  Last night's show, with a record $300,000 win, got a 3.4/5 rating.  On the surface, yeah, it's not the greatest rating on the planet, but it's pretty close to Minute to Win It which gets touted as the greatest thing to ever happen to game shows, and Money Drop is cheap enough. Ratings Report: “Family Feud” Hits Another High; “Baggage” Debuts OK

The ratings for the week ending January 2nd, the final week of 2010 before the new year, are out. For the holidays, fans of Family Feud should have been sending cards and presents to host Steve Harvey for saving the show. It's becoming a recurring theme around here, but yet again Family Feud hit a season high. The rest of the syndicated shows, except for one, also saw an increase. Next, GSN's Baggage entered a ten market test run this past Monday.  The ratings are out for the first two days and while it's not lighting the world on fire, in the grand scheme of things it's doing fine. We've also got the ratings for Million Dollar Money Drop, with more to come. Click here to read about all the ratings and what they mean.

Fox Brings Back “30 Seconds to Fame” Thumbnail

Fox Brings Back “30 Seconds to Fame”

Anyone remember the old Fox game show 30 Seconds to Fame?  I don't, but I've already heard from a few that do.  If you're one of those people and enjoyed it then you're in luck.  Fox is bringing back the variety game show for its Saturday late night lineup.  Reruns of the series, hosted by Craig Jackson, will start airing on Saturday, January 15th, at midnight.  The show asked people to perform stunts or a talent in a 30 second time period, with the audience deciding, at the end of the show, who wins a $25,000 prize. Lessons to Learn from the “Million Dollar Money Drop” Fiasco Thumbnail

Lessons to Learn from the “Million Dollar Money Drop” Fiasco

I think it's accurate to say the entire ordeal surrounding Million Dollar Money Drop is just about at fiasco stage.  More people have probably heard about this story than actually watched the actual show.  By now you probably know that a couple, Gabe Okoye and Brittany Mayti, lost an imaginary $800,000 that they could not walk away with on the Fox game show on Monday, December 20th.  They've been on a media tour, spreading their story about this and milking the moment for all they can.  However, I think people are forgetting to check on a few key things involving this, and it's lessons to learn from this show. Click here to read about the couple's acting background (no, the show's not rigged), and more information about the questions and casting.

“Million Dollar Money Drop” $800,000 Losers Get Second Chance Thumbnail

“Million Dollar Money Drop” $800,000 Losers Get Second Chance

While I'm away something vaguely interesting decides to happen.  Figures.  Kevin Pollak is cursed to host game shows marred in some form of controversy, apparently.  On the very first episode of Fox's Million Dollar Money Drop we wrote about a couple that faced the question, “Which of these was first sold in stores? A: Macintosh Computer, B: Sony Walkman, C: Post-It Notes”.  They placed $800,000 on C, which they claim was incorrect, and $80,000 on B, which they claim was correct.  It was clearly wrong and there were many examples from all over expressing its inaccuracy. It all went down hill from here and very rapidly. Click here to read more.

Ratings Report: “Million Dollar Money Drop” Stays Level; “Family Feud” Continues to Impress Thumbnail

Ratings Report: “Million Dollar Money Drop” Stays Level; “Family Feud” Continues to Impress

We've got lots of ratings for broadcast, syndicated, and cable shows, not to mention results of how the black and white shows GSN added for a two week trial period are doing.  But first, Million Dollar Money Drop had its first winner last night, giving away $80,000 to a couple.  The ratings stayed relatively level due to a weak lead-in. Next, GSN recently added black and white game shows to the overnight 3:00AM hour for a two week period.  If classic fans wanted them to stick around then people needed to watch.  They're apparently doing so. And in syndication, for the week ending December 12th, Family Feud continues to be in the forefront this season. Click here to read more about the ratings.

“Million Dollar Money Drop” Debuts to Low Ratings and Question Controversy Thumbnail

“Million Dollar Money Drop” Debuts to Low Ratings and Question Controversy

Million Dollar Money Drop's debut on Fox last night holds a lot in common with the British counterpart.  It debuted to a relatively low rating that can only be spun by the fact that maybe the show is cheap to produce since they rarely give away anything, and also there's controversy with one of the questions asked on the show. Click here to read about the ratings and the question flaw that cost a couple $800,000.

Weekend Replay: “Duel” Thumbnail

Weekend Replay: “Duel”

Tomorrow is the launch of Fox's new quiz show Million Dollar Money Drop.  Even if the show isn't perfect, there's a lot riding on it.  It's success can always lead to a new influx of primetime games.  Money Drop's impending debut does bring back memories of one failed ABC quiz show with nearly the same game mechanics.  Many of you probably remember it.  That show was Duel.  Duel was similar, but took a more poker-oriented view to the game. Click here to read more about the various versions of Duel and see clips of the show.

“Million Dollar Money Drop” is a Thrill Ride of a Game Show Thumbnail

“Million Dollar Money Drop” is a Thrill Ride of a Game Show

Fox debuts its adaptation of the hit British quiz show The Million Pound Drop, now called Million Dollar Money Drop, this coming Monday, December 20th, at 8:00PM ET on Fox.  If you've read around here whatever then you've seen the British version or at least know of it.  There were some initial fears of how the show would be adapted for American audiences.  Fox provided us a screener of the first episode.  I'm happy to report that beyond a few visual changes, Million Dollar Money Drop is virtually the same as its international counterparts and is every bit as tense and dramatic.  Click here to read more about the show.
