Aussie Weekend Replay: “Minute to Win It”

Like they say in previews, Minute to Win It has taken off all over the world...well in three other countries.  Australian's version of Minute to Win It is going pretty strong.  Channel 7's edition, hosted by Darren McMullen, is basically the same as Americans except it's not as psychotic and there is a milestone level at $2,500 unlike the $1,000 level in America.  It hasn't been on long but they've already had a contestant try for $500,000.  The game contestant Grant Nelson has to play is "Double Trouble", where he must bounce two ping-pong balls off a table, using one hand, and they have to land in two separate cups.  It's very hard and he's on his final life.  Can he do it?  Check out the video after the break.

Holy Crap of the Week: Team Plays For $500,000 on “Minute to Win It”

know I said I wouldn't write about Minute to Win It, but when something like this happens it's just wrong to ignore it.  I've got issues with things regarding the show, but they've got an addicting game once they stick to it.  It had, without a doubt, its most exciting moment this past Wednesday and one of the more exciting moments of the year.  In a couples edition, Kim Fox and Aaron Hedrick breezed past essentially the entire game, winning $250,000 without using a single life.  They went further than any other regular contestant has before.  They played an extremely hard game for $500,000 called Extreme Nutstacker and burned two lives during it.  With one chance left, it came down to the buzzer.  Check out if they won it after the break.

“Minute to Win It” Releases Their Summer Activity Guide

Recently, it was announced that Mattel is going to be releasing a home version of NBC’s game show “Minute to Win It.” I have to say that when I first heard the news, I literally scratched my head and thought to myself, “I could dish out $50 at my Wal-Mart and buy all my supplies there.” Then again, who am I to judge? I’m actually anticipating in seeing what Mattel offers in the home game. As for now, the "Summer Activity Guide" is the best route to go.

“Minute to Win It” Plans a Million Dollar Mission

Well that didn't take long, did it? Minute to Win It, the modestly rated NBC stunt show, returns to the airwaves on Wednesday, July 7th, following America's Got Talent. New stunts and ways to play, which they have been experimenting with all last season, will be featured throughout the various episodes. Apparently some new guaranteed levels at the beginning and around the $250,000 level will be added to get people to actually attempt to play the practically impossible million dollar game Super Coin. But that's not stopping them. The show will be doing a Million Dollar Mission. One audience member each show will get a guaranteed shot at $1,000,000. Read on for the full details.

“Minute to Win It” Gets Home Version from Mattel Thumbnail

“Minute to Win It” Gets Home Version from Mattel

This one's a bit understandable but still slightly baffling. NBC announced today that they have partnered with Mattel to bring the game show Minute to Win It to homes. Other NBC products like 1 VS 100 have been adapted for the home market by Mattel in the past. The games are expected to hit the stores in the fourth quarter of 2010.

What Did We Learn This Season?: “Minute to Win It” Edition

The season is winding down (or has come to a close) for the game shows on networks or syndication, and I thought a nice way to close the book on the Fall 2010 season is recapping what we've learned from each show throughout the weeks. Sunday saw the "season" finale of Minute to Win It.

Casting for GSN’s “Baggage”, “Catch 21″, and NBC’s “Minute to Win It”

Two casting notices for GSN going on right now: Thanks to reader Mark D. for the email about this. We can apparently say it now: the hit GSN show Baggage, hosted by Jerry Springer, has apparently been renewed for another string of 65 episodes. Why can we say it? The show's begun casting.

“Minute to Win It”: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

If you read this site you're well aware that I was a bit hard on Minute to Win It at first because it was so unrelentingly a clone of the ITV game show The Cube. It hasn't stopped me from watching occasionally, though; and the more I watch the more the show seems to be trying to distance itself from The Cube and become it's own product.

“Minute to Win It” Continues This Summer Starting July 7th Thumbnail

“Minute to Win It” Continues This Summer Starting July 7th

Minute to Win It won't be going black after the end of the short season.  NBC's modestly rated stunt show will air this summer starting July 7th through September as a lead-in for America's Got Talent on Wednesdays.  The show has been airing Wednesdays for the past few weeks and getting the same ratings, in reruns, that original episodes get.  This is after there are strong rumors that CBS has picked up The Cube, which Minute to Win It was based off of, for a summer run, which hasn't been confirmed yet.  Hollywood Reporter had this first.

News Flashes: “Cash Cab”, “Jeopardy!” and “Ratings”

Sorry for the lack of any articles today.  I'm having one of those days where I'm getting nothing accomplished.  But news is still going on, and here's a few smaller stories for you all. *Jeopardy!'s Million Dollar Celebrity Invitational Tournament has been going on all season and we're getting down to the wire.  The semi-finals and the finals will start on May 3rd.  The eventual winner will receive $1,000,000 for charity.  It's the first seven figure prize that show's given away in a pretty long time.  Monday, May 3rd, will see Pat Sajak, Jane Curtain, and Harry Shearer face off.  Tuesday, May 4th, is Michael McKean, Charles Shaughnessy, and Isaac Mizrahi who replaces Andy Richter due to scheduling conflicts.  Wednesday, May 5th, is the

“Minute” Renewed, ABC Orders Skyscraper Game Show Thumbnail

“Minute” Renewed, ABC Orders Skyscraper Game Show

Today has been an interesting day for game shows.  The resounding word seems to be, "What?" *First off, NBC has semi-shockingly renewed their new stunt game show Minute to Win It for another series of episodes.  We may see some in the summer.  I say shockingly because I don't know if anyone has noticed the ratings but they suck a bit.  They're barely pulling in above a 3.5 rating, which is not good, and it's not doing that well in the key demographic either.  I applaud them for at least fixing the issues with the show (through editing) and making it far less stupid than it originally was. I'm just shocked to hear of a renewal already.  Million Dollar Password was pulling in nearly double the people (and not that far away in the key de

“Minute to Win It” Week Three Ratings Recap and Preview Thumbnail

“Minute to Win It” Week Three Ratings Recap and Preview

Week three of NBC's new game show Minute to Win It has come and gone.  If nothing else the show did give off some faint vital signs, but we'll see if it's enough.  Ratings improved to a 3.7/6 this week.  Just simply in that rating it went up a lot from last week's 2.9/5.  In viewers the show improved by around 500,000 eyes, so that's something at least.  But the bad news is that it got crushed unmercifully by The Amazing Race, which had around 11 million viewers at 8:30PM ET.  To make matters worse Minute even got beat by a rerun of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The only show it beat was The Simpsons, but that was only by 70,000 people which isn't anything to gloat about.  It tied for last place in the key demographic with that rerun o
