“Identity” Finale Tonight
If you're a fan of the NBC game show Identity I would be sure to watch it tonight at 8PM ET. It's the finale, but whether it's the season or series finale is yet to be seen. For some reason, I'm guessing it's the series finale. The show hasn't been lighting up the ratings. Hell, it has barely made a blip, and with the amount of huge winners they have it's hardly as cheap as Deal or No Deal or 1 VS 100 now. Last week's ratings sunk to a rather small total of 3.3/6. If I was Reveille, I'd reformat the show, lower the prize, and pitch it to someone as a daily show. They have a decent show hiding somewhere in here. It's just hidden by the feeling that this show is Deal or No Deal with people. Any thoughts about anything regarding this

Mr. Donny Osmond is quite a busy person in England now, isn't he? Donny Osmond, host of Challenge's Pyramid, has been named the host of BBC Two's Identity. They are taking a step in a better direction than ours, however, as it is to be a daytime show. Maybe they won't have two-minute-long reveals. The player will have to find the identities of 12 strangers like our version for a cash prize that is not known yet. Thirty episodes will be made. Also, rumor has it that Dancing With the Stars might end up on BBC Three. We're finally getting back into the game show exporting business, aren't we? It's been a long time.

I know this is completely false most likely, but I am really starting to worry for 1 VS 100's survival. CNBC will replace 1 VS 100's Wednesday 9PM ET run with the 50,000th rerun of Deal or No Deal starting on May 2nd. This is in addition to the Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday airing on CNBC and the Monday and Sunday run on NBC. That's six airings of the show, people. Five of which are currently reruns. How much of this damn show do we need? Look, I can stand Deal or No Deal a bit, but we're airing the show more or equal to the daily editions. We're airing the show more than we would air the daily syndicated version. That's just plain awful. And what the hell is going on with 1 VS 100? We haven't heard a peep about the show in ages

I'm really jealous of the British now. BBC is now casting for their two new game shows "Identity" and "Dirty Rotten Cheater". "Identity" is the hit NBC show that comes back tomorrow night at 9PM ET, following the season finale of "1 VS 100". And then we have "Dirty Rotten Cheater" which was an amazing show with great prizes but stuck on old shitty PAX. Comedian Brian Conley hosts the game of bluffs, lies, and deception. Hopefully we'll get the latter on BBC America, because I really miss "Dirty Rotten Cheater".

Just a quick update on the scheduling information for NBC's hit game show "1 VS 100". The show's season finale (at least finale for a bit) will be next week, Friday, March 9th, at 8PM ET. Then, on Friday, March 16th, NBC apparently snuck in the previously unaired Grease episode of the show. In this episode, someone will get to play, and I'm not kidding, Double or Nothing. In a trivia game. Not "Deal or No Deal". Scott St. John really needs to make sure this is the only time this ever happens. "1 VS 100" is incredibly good, he doesn't need to crap it up with things like this. Following that episode will be the series continuation of "Identity" at 9PM ET, with the rest of the new episodes airing at 8PM ET. Also to warn you, NBC's g

TVTix and OCATV have posted the tape dates for the second series of "Identity". If you're going to be in LA on Monday, March 5th; Wednesday, March 7th; Thursday, March 8th; Sunday, March 11th; and/or Monday, March 12th; go and see Penn Jillette host the $500,000 hit psychological game show. You can order tickets from TVTix or OCATV by clicking either of these.

NBC announced "Identity"'s returning timeslot. The Penn Jillette fronted psychological guessing game will debut its second series of episodes on March 16th from 9PM to 10PM ET. The following week it will fit into its regular schedule location, Fridays at 8PM ET. This takes the spot of "1 VS 100". Right now, it looks like everything is staying the same. I do have to say that I am a bit sad that "1 VS 100" will be going. I really feel it's the best show of the new game show explosion. "Identity" is cool and all, but to me, it just doesn't hold a candle to "1 VS 100". In response to a comment just left, right now we're guessing that "1 VS 100" is just going on a hiatus. Its ratings keep growing and we just can't see it being gone

Want to win $500,000? It's easy on NBC's hit game show "Identity": just match twelve identities to twelve people. Well, it's not really that easy, but the $500,000 is very possible to win. B&C stated that NBC has renewed "Identity" for seven episodes. The Penn Jillette hosted psychological guessing game stayed steady throughout it's debut week in December, staying in the same ratings level as "1 VS 100". NBC entertainment president Kevin Reilly said these will debut in March. Also, and I believe we reported on this previously, NBC has picked up the improv show "Thank God You're Here" hosted by David Alan Grier and featuring who is, in my mind, one of the funniest people on earth: Dave Foley. The show, which should debut in spring, will throw comedians randomly into improv situations. Sounds remotely similar to the "Whose Line is it Anyway?" game Superheroes, doesn't it?

The report for Thursday were the highest without a Deal or No Deal lead-in. Nearly getting 1 million more than the previous two nights, getting second place for the night. While Friday's dip seems really bad, Identity actually helped win NBC the night, as Identity had the most viewers of any show last night. The 18-49 demographic is doing great, ther

NBC's new game show "Identity" might be safe after all. The Penn Jillette fronted psychological show stayed steady at a 5.6/9 on Wednesday, right around the same level that "1 vs. 100" has. If it can stick around this level for the final two nights, it'll probably be back at some time. For some reason I'm doubting as quickly as "Deal or No Deal" was brought back, but who knows. It's cheaper than "Deal".

Even with the top prize given away, "Identity" fell quite a bit from its first outing. The Tuesday episode received a 5.4/9, down quite a bit from the last episode because of the "Deal or No Deal" lead-in. However, the show is at "1 vs. 100" level right now, so its safe for the time being. If it goes down again tonight, it might not be pretty. Side note- now I have another issue with the show. The mystique of the top prize is gone. I really think that's what keeps me DVRing "Deal or No Deal" and "1 vs. 100": it's extremely hard to win, but it is obtainable. "Identity" basically showed it's a bit easier to win than, say, "Wheel of Fortune", which isn't that great. If this was a syndicated or cable show with a medium budget, I think

The ratings are in for yesterday's "Identity", and it's looking pretty good. For reference, "Deal or No Deal" had a 9.5/15. "Identity", for the hour, scored a 7.5/11, which fell a bit from the second half hour of "Deal or No Deal". However, it retained the 18-49 demographic, which is extremely important. However, how can it do on its own tonight? Tonight will be a major test to see if the show is dependent on "Deal or No Deal" for ratings and if the show will return. What did you all think of the show? I thought it was rather enjoyable. My only real gripes are that the money chain is a bit off (who's going to risk $50,000 for another $25,000 more?) and the fact that after time, "Identity" can and probably will become incredibly bo

Penn Jillette has quite a career under his belt already. He has a hit show on Showtime: "Penn and Teller: Bullshit!". He has a hit Las Vegas show. His movie "The Aristrocrats" is in the theatrical comedy record books after a short time. Now he gets to add another profession: game show host. Tonight, Penn Jillette will host "Identity", a brand new game show on NBC which makes people match up different identities to different people for $500,000. Recently, I was at a teleconference hosted by NBC and had the chance to talk to Mr. Jillette. This is what I came up with; I hope you enjoy. Note: sorry for the low quality right now. We're testing software to bring back the Buzzer podcast again and this was a trial run, so to speak. PENN
