2012 Daytime Emmy Nominations Announced

Game shows were represented pretty well in the 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations.  There were a few very, very glaring omissions but some shockers in here as well. The usual suspects like Cash Cab and Millionaire were nominated. However, some shockers from cable and network daytime were thrown in as well. There's one very, very large omission, though. Click here to read all the results and let us know what you think.

Million Dollar Moment on “Millionaire: Hot Seat”

With all the excitement of next Monday's debut for Australia's new version of The Price is Right (Seven, 5:00PM), we can't forget the other games in Australia right now.  The one that has put the long running Deal or No Deal in some trouble over the past few years is the love-and-hate Millionaire: Hot Seat.  There are a few things very off about the show, and it's completely unfair, but it's been around for a while and they've had quite a few million dollar moments, which is what the show is all about, so they know what they are doing.  One of those million dollar moments happened last week.  Four people have gone for the $1,000,000 top prize (you can't walk away; you either win $1,000 or the million) but no one has won.  Can Alan Edwards be the first person to win it all?  Check out the last half of the episode by clicking here and see if the confetti goes off.

Could You Miss the Million Pound Question Twice?

No fan of Who Wants to be a Millionaire, regardless of the country, will be able to forget Ken Basin's $475,000 loss after giving the wrong Final Answer to his million dollar question.  It's the moment you never really wanted to see, but you still wanted to a little bit.  Did you know it happened in England first, though?  Well, it sort of happened. On a special celebrity Valentine's edition, Laurence and Jackie Llewelyn-Bowen had the rare chance to face a million pound question twice.  The video of the moment has only recently been revealed, finally, and it's a much different reaction than the American miss. Click here to see both moments, including, for the first time ever, the UK big loss, and tell us what you thought.

Ratings Report: Only “Family Feud” Grows Thumbnail

Ratings Report: Only “Family Feud” Grows

The newest ratings release is in for syndicated game shows. The continuing power of Family Feud has been proven week in and week out over the course of the last two seasons.  Whenever a show performs a host change, if we see an uptick in ratings we typically wait for the inevitable downfall because curiosity has to wear off eventually.  Feud seems to be the exception to the rule and, unlike nearly anything I've seen before, just keeps getting bigger. The rest of the syndicated shows either stayed level or went down, but it was pretty steady for everyone regardless. Click here to see the numbers of all the shows, plus a new funny clip from Family Feud.

Ratings Report: “Millionaire” Hits High; “Who’s Still Standing” Exits

We've got some ratings and viewership figures to share with you this morning.  In addition to syndication we also have some broadcast network numbers, plus international figures which will probably depress you a bit. Let's start with the positives, though.  With the meteoric rise of Family Feud, Who Wants to be a Millionaire has accidentally been pushed to the side for a bit.  However, they had some great news for the week ending January 22nd. It was actually good news for all the syndicated shows. Next, NBC's Who's Still Standing? didn't end its series with a bang, but it managed to somehow maintain its audience week in and week out despite some major problems. And finally, get ready to be depressed about the viewing figures for ITV's intense quiz show The Exit List. It's not looking good. Click here for the full run through of all the ratings.
