Report: “Baggage” Cleared for Syndication in 70% of the Country

It's been a slow news day and an incredibly busy day, personally, for all of us.  Luckily we found something interesting for you.  According to Marc Berman and TV Media Insights, Sony Pictures Television's Baggage looks to be syndicated full time starting Fall 2012.  According to TVMI, the Jerry Springer-hosted dating show has been cleared in 70% of the country.  Baggage began a syndication test run in January 2011 throughout ten markets, where it saw ratings hovering around 0.8 to 1.0.  These are off-network reruns of the GSN version which has been silent for months.  Click here to check out a fun moment from the show.

Season Premieres of “Baggage” and “Lingo” Tonight; Write Your Review

Two season premieres are tonight on GSN.  The first is Baggage which will largely stay the same.  That season debut is at 7:30PM ET.  8:00PM ET will be the one more of us will be paying attention to, though.  It's the season debut of Lingo.  It's almost enough to be a series debut.  After a long break the show has a new set, new rules, new host, new music, and new top prize of $100,000. We've shown some previews, clips, and reviews and reception has been lukewarm so far.  However, what do you think of the full episode?  Be sure to tell us what you think in the comments.

Video for the Day: Jerry Springer Will Do Anything on “Baggage” Thumbnail

Video for the Day: Jerry Springer Will Do Anything on “Baggage”

It's a bit of a slow news day so I'm pretty happy GSN passed along a video my way.  Baggage has been doing relatively well in syndication and it is showing no signs of ending any time soon.  The Jerry Springer hosted show has been so popular because it's pretty bizarre and outrageous, which makes it very funny.  You can't argue with the numbers they get for it.  Occasionally some nutcase comes on the show and basically shows off what makes Baggage so popular, especially with the younger crowd.  I think this lady who spoon feeds her dog showcases it pretty well.  I think it also showcases that Jerry Springer will literally do anything.  Though given his talk show I doubt this is the most disgusting bodily fluid he's been that close to.  Take a look at the video by clicking here.  You voted it as one of the top shows of 2010, so I'm sure many of you want to see it.

Ratings Report: “Family Feud” Hits Another High; “Baggage” Debuts OK

The ratings for the week ending January 2nd, the final week of 2010 before the new year, are out. For the holidays, fans of Family Feud should have been sending cards and presents to host Steve Harvey for saving the show. It's becoming a recurring theme around here, but yet again Family Feud hit a season high. The rest of the syndicated shows, except for one, also saw an increase. Next, GSN's Baggage entered a ten market test run this past Monday.  The ratings are out for the first two days and while it's not lighting the world on fire, in the grand scheme of things it's doing fine. We've also got the ratings for Million Dollar Money Drop, with more to come. Click here to read about all the ratings and what they mean.

New Seasons of “Catch 21″ and “Baggage” Today at 5:30PM ET on GSN

Small alert to remember the season premieres of Catch 21 and Baggage on GSN today at 5:30PM ET and 6:30PM ET, respectively.  Alfonso Ribeiro and Mikki Padilla return in the trivia blackjack game Catch 21 hoping to give a contestant $25,000.  The show is now shot in HD.  Baggage is back with Jerry Springer looking at people's deepest, darkest secrets before the date happens.

New “Catch 21″ and “Baggage” August 16th on GSN; Other Schedule Changes Thumbnail

New “Catch 21″ and “Baggage” August 16th on GSN; Other Schedule Changes

Here's an alert about a few minor upcoming GSN schedule changes in the future.  However, I first just want to note about new shows.  Catch 21 comes back from a rather long break in a new time slot of 5:30PM ET, being the new lead-in for The Newlywed Game.  Actually it probably has the nicest slot that network can give any show right now...sandwiched between the highly rated Deal or No Deal and the highly rated Newlywed Game.  Alfonso Ribeiro returns as host, as does the dealer Mikki Padilla.  The show will rerun at 8:30PM ET.  I'm hearing 130 episodes have been ordered, which is the largest order GSN has ever given to an original series.  Usual orders are 65 episodes, so this is a long six months of new episodes which is good news. Read about more changes after the break.

“Catch 21″ and “Baggage” return Monday, August 16 Thumbnail

“Catch 21″ and “Baggage” return Monday, August 16

On August 16, "Catch 21" will usher in its fourth season. The blackjack-themed game show has been doing very well for GSN, and quite frankly, it's a fun game to play along with. A new batch of contestants will play the game for a chance to win up to $26,000, in a test of trivia, skill and luck of the cards. It's one of GSN's better shows, and I'm glad to see it back for another round.
