Tune In: Finale of “20Q” and “The Money List” Tonight

Endemol was nice enough to remind me about the very entertaining show 20Q tonight.  Sadly it's the "season" finale so if you're a fan of the quiz show hosted by Cat Deeley, it's most likely your last chance for a new episode.  I've seen the ratings for it and for what I have to believe is due to a pretty bad scheduling and programming decision, I'm regretfully doubting it'll be coming back.  It's sort of a shame.  I spent so much time under the assumption, just from the pilot, that it sucked.  Then the series rolls around and it ends up much better than I ever anticipated.  I mean I don't know if they are going to try to shop it around to other networks or anything, but I'd really like to see them try.  The season finale is tonight at 8:00P

GSN Changes “Big Saturday Night” Again. Why Did it Go So Horribly Wrong? Thumbnail

GSN Changes “Big Saturday Night” Again. Why Did it Go So Horribly Wrong?

We'll update the PDFs later this afternoon but yet again GSN is changing the Big Saturday Night schedule and reworking the show.  I can't even fully remember how many times this has been.  This has to have been the fourth or fifth change to the program.  They are essentially waving the white flag.  20Q will air at 8:00PM ET yet again, in its original hour-long state.  Now Deal or No Deal will be pushed into the 9:00PM ET slot.  Poor poor Money List takes up the 10:00PM ET hour.  No BSN segments will air here apparently.  BSN actually starts as a half-hour program at 11:00PM ET.  It's followed by The Newlywed Game, which will very likely get better ratings, at 11:30PM ET. So, as the title said, why did it go so horribly wrong?  I think it

“The Money List” and “20Q” Flip on GSN’s Big Saturday Night Schedule Thumbnail

“The Money List” and “20Q” Flip on GSN’s Big Saturday Night Schedule

I haven't heard anything ratings-wise from GSN's Big Saturday Night since the debut, but given the updates to the BSN format, the fact that it's revamping in a few weeks, and now this schedule change, I assume it's not doing all that well.  Starting this week, July 18th, 20Q and The Money List will be flipping spots on the schedule.  This means The Money List will be featured at 8:00PM ET and 20Q at 9:30PM ET.  All the weekday repeats are gone now as well..  Every weekday at midnight will resume to be the Regis Philbin edition of Who Wants to be a Millionaire and weekdays from 8:00PM ET to 10:00PM ET will yet again be Richard Karn's Family Feud, Meredith Vieira's Millionaire, John O'Hurley's Feud, and another Vieira Millionaire. So needl

Review of 20Q: OK, I Was Wrong Thumbnail

Review of 20Q: OK, I Was Wrong

I don't think you have to be a regular reader to know that I wasn't a fan of the original 20Q pilot shot for syndication.  When I heard GSN picked it up, I had low expectations.  Before the tapings began the network tried to make me excited for it.  They said how much they improved it and all that stuff, but I still wasn't sold.  I know there may be some people, especially at the network, who think I'm negative about a lot of stuff they do (which isn't true since I've only been really negative about Big Saturday Night so far, but I digress).  I have to make a u-turn on my original thoughts and feelings of 20Q, airing Saturdays at 8:00PM ET on GSN.  I went in not expecting anything much and came up pretty happy.  A lot more happy than I expe

Spain’s Version of 20Q: “20P”

Before you get confused I'm taking a stab in saying that the Spanish version of 2oQ is called 20P since questions is preguntas in Madrid Language, or Spanish as some say.  I've wanted to talk a lot more about GSN's 20Q, debuting June 13th at 8:00PM ET, but there's been nothing more than a press release or two out there for it.  We've finally got some more information we can show you.  First off, the show's page has been released as well as an online game.  The online game isn't really what the show is; it's just the 20Q game on your computer.  20Q's been airing in Spain for a bit and we were sent some clips of the game to show you all.  Even if you can't understand, take a look. I really just want to reiterate, again, that my opi

Keegan-Michael Key Hosts GSN’s Big Saturday Night; Awards Show Loses a Rerun Thumbnail

Keegan-Michael Key Hosts GSN’s Big Saturday Night; Awards Show Loses a Rerun

Two bits of GSN news for you.  First off, it has been announced that former MadTV cast member will be the host of GSN's Big Saturday Night, a three hour block of two original shows including live performances and gaming which can award in-studio and at-home players cash (of up to $5,000) and prizes over the next nine weeks.  There will be two correspondents for the show: Ross Matthews (Ross the Intern from Jay Leno's former Tonight Show) and Charissa Thompson (FOX Sports correspondent).  The two new shows, again, are 20Q and the very fun Money List.  Each show will run for 90 minutes because of added filler with the entire block but will be run in its normal one hour format in reruns. GSN is looking for people in the LA area to be at the

GSN’s Big Saturday Night, starting June 13th, is a Big Mixed Bag Thumbnail

GSN’s Big Saturday Night, starting June 13th, is a Big Mixed Bag

One of GSN's new marketing initiatives is the all new Big Saturday Nights, starting June 13th at 8:00PM ET.  Hosted by Ross Matthews (Ross the Intern from Jay Leno's Tonight Show), over the nine weekends people at home and in studio can play games to win cash and prizes.  Up to $1,000,000 over those nine weeks will be given away.  So don't go there expecting to win a million like some of the casting notices I've read make it seem.  That's the total that can be given away over the course of the event.  Live music and comedy will be tossed in.  Essentially, it's a three hour GSN Live with extra additions and, frankly, a more annoying host.  This also stretches each of the 60 minute shows to 90 minutes so I hope you like things dragged out.

GSN Schedule Changes; “Deal or No Deal” and “1 VS 100″ Get Debut Dates Thumbnail

GSN Schedule Changes; “Deal or No Deal” and “1 VS 100″ Get Debut Dates

We've got lots of exciting GSN schedule changes coming up for you.  First, let's talk about the awards.  As we said before, the 2009 GSN Game Show Awards will debut on June 6th at 8:00PM ET and air through 10:30PM ET.  Rerun times are varied.  First you can watch a full rerun directly following the awards at 10:30PM ET.  A special two hour edition of the awards show, without the red carpet and winner interviews, airs on June 7th at 4:00PM ET.  Now onto the big news. Yes, as we reported before, Deal or No Deal and 1 VS 100 will be on the GSN schedule in June.  You can see Deal or No Deal Monday through Friday at 7:00PM ET starting June 1st replacing Lingo and Pyramid.  It will rerun weekdays at 11:00PM ET replacing Lingo, Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00PM ET replacing Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, and 8:00PM ET on Saturdays replacing Family Feud.  I haven't seen the first episodes of Deal or No Deal in ages, and those early shows were miles better than the later ones, so this is a nice change. The one I'm most excited for, and I have a feeling a lot of you are excited for as well, is the return of 1 VS 100.  Not a lot of episodes exist but GSN scheduled it nicely.  1 VS 100, NBC's hit quiz show, will air Saturdays and Sundays at 1:00PM ET starting on June 6th replacing Lingo, 6:00PM ET on Saturdays replacing Pyramid, and Saturdays at 2:00AM ET replacing Dog Eat Dog.  Any 1 VS 100 is such a welcome addition. There's some daytime shuffling here as well.   Whammy! will air weekdays at 11:00AM ET starting June 1st replacing Let's Make A Deal which is apparently now under Fremantle's control.  Pyramid will replace The Weakest Link at 4:00PM ET weekdays, and the syndicated version of Millionaire will air weekends at noon replacing Let's Make A Deal. We're still not done, believe it or not.  Saturdays get a major redo starting June 13th.  The new show 2oQ, which hasn't gotten any good word from literally every single person who audioned that got back to me , will debut June 13th at 8:00PM ET.  It's an hour long show stretched to an hour and a half because of GSN's Big Saturday Nights.  Again, the initial buzz isn't good for the show but we never know until we see it.  The Money List which taped nearly a year ago starts the same night from 9:30PM ET to 11:00PM ET, again because of stretching for the special evening.  This is really long-awaited and I couldn't be more excited to see it show up.  Starting Sunday June 14th, 2oQ will run for just its hour at 4:00PM ET, The Newlywed Game and Catch 21 air at 4:00PM ET, and The Money List at 5:00PM ET.  Not only that we've got a Father's Day marathon of Super Password on Sunday, June 21st, from 9:00AM ET to 1:00PM ET.  I know this is a huge amount to digest so we've got a picture of all the changes all scheduled out for you, after the break.  (more...)
