A special Weekend Replay for this weekend as we are featuring the German version of the popular UK game show, The Cube. It was annouced earlier this year that the major broadcaster, RTL, who also airs their own local version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? and Pop Idol has picked up the local rights to produce The Cube. Rather than build their own cube set in Germany, they decided to use the UK set and production team at Fountian Studios in Wembley, London. The format is exactly the same to the original version, simply complete seven games with nine lives to win £250,000, or €250,000 in the German's case. When The Cube begins a new series, it demands full attention. ITV and Objective Productions have announced that the hit British game show has been renewed for a fourth series. The third series is currently airing Sunday evenings. The third series premiere saw almost four million viewers tune in. The fourth series will tape this summer in England. If you can't make it inside the actual Cube, you'll get a chance to play its games any time you want soon. Europress will release a home console video game based on The Cube towards the end of 2011. I usually only like to post videos when it's a heart-stopping or exciting moment on any show, but The Cube has it so often that we're giving you yet another clip. The Cube. from Objective Productions, sees contestants enter the large, perspex cube and attempt to complete seven challenges for £250,000. The contestant has nine lives. Hey, everyone. Hope you had a nice weekend. I took some time off, but we're back and we've got a few small stories and interesting things to show you today. Broadway fans will want to watch The Price is Right on April 5th. Constantine Maroulis, from the show Rock of Ages, will appear on the show. That's not all the special features coming to Price, though. The Home Viewer Showcase was a big success and they are starting a new "Prize of the Week" giveaway.
Next, Fans of The Cube: get ready to be excited. The commercially and critically acclaimed British game show will return to ITV on Sunday, April 3rd, according to our good friends at Bother's Bar. We've got some new game show home games this week. Who Wants to be a Millionaire launches their new Facebook game on Monday and Minute to Win It also launched an iPhone app. Also, speaking of Millionaire, the Dutch version has returned after a long absence. UK Millionaire Returns in 2011/The Cube Goes German
As mentioned on this site back in January. It was reported the civllian show of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? has been dropped after low ratings with their previous series. While the live celebrity special at Christmas securing above average ratings. More evidence came from The Sun newspaper earlier this week reporting that ITV have comissioned six live specials to be shown throughout 2011, featuring war heroes and celebrities playing for charity. Rather than having the specials airing over six weeks, the major commerical network will be broadcasting them throughout the year with each show to be based on a theme. If you read here, you know we essentially have a law to praise The Cube at least once a month. It's made the top ten of the year countdown two years in a row, by your vote, so it's not just us here that love the show. It's the most nerve wracking, entertaining, exciting game to come out in years. The Cube will be returning to ITV for a third series fairly soon. Phillip Schofield and the rest of the crew are back in the studio trying to give away £250,000 to the first person that can beat the seven seemingly simple challenges. We've covered the show extensively since its debut, and we can't be happier to see it be such a great success. The mastermind behind the show is Adam Adler. The Cube came back last night for a celebrity special on ITV. It was an interesting series overall. A few people went for big money and lost it all, but a few walked away after appearing to be in good shape, with many lives and the Simplify option on the table. I've wondered why people would walk away with so many lives and helps. I know why now. Celebrity Joe Swash won £20,000 with seven lives and Simplify available. His £50,000 game is Pinpoint. As mentioned on this website last month, ITV's The Cube will be returning for a third series in 2011 but they have given a massive hint today the new series could be transmitted as early as the Spring. The first and second series has been given an autumn timeslot with the show being record in the early summer whilst being paird with The X Factir. TV audience booking sites, Lost in TV and SRO Audiences have released today the dates for nine recordings to be recorded in mid/late January. This could indicate the commercial broadcaster would like the show to be airing sooner, rather than later.
