TV Guide Network, which is really getting into original programming recently, has picked up their first original game show entitled Celebrity Says!. The half hour show, with 65 episodes being planned, will focus on stars under the spotlight of TV Guide Network in red carpet situations. Contestants will have to answer questions about that person. The show begins filming this month. TV Guide Network president Ryan O’Hara recently stated, “What’s unique about it is that we can launch out of our red-carpet (programming) and use the red-carpet coverage to promote the show,” he said. “We have the ability to ask stars fun and candid questions.”
In my recent memory, pop culture game shows have not exactly faired well. Has there been a long lasting pop culture related game show in the past, for those that know? Nonetheless, this show has a better chance of survival if not only for the network it is on. I will go to the grave saying that GSN’s StarFace was an very entertaining show, but it just did not seem like it suited the network. Same with PAX and their even more impressive On The Cover. TV Guide Network is specifically for pop culture related programming and the show fits them perfectly. For our readers, what is your favorite pop culture game show?
Best pop culture show on TV, period? Easily The Soup.
Edit: WORLD SERIES OF POP CULTURE! I don’t know why I forgot about that! Probably because it’s on a much higher plane. Sorry!
