Rumor: “Pyramid” and Hasbro’s “Catch Phrase” Favorites for CBS Daytime

Starting off the day with a pretty interesting and great rumor today. Our sources are telling us that the search for a new show to replace the canceled CBS soap opera As The World Turns is on, and many game shows are being looked at. In fact, looking at the number of games that are up for it it's looking pretty good that we'll get a third daytime game show, coming off of last year's debut of Let's Make A Deal. Before I list the shows, I just want everyone to clearly know that this obviously isn't confirmed by anyone and is from our incredibly trustworthy sources. The situation, I'm told, is very fluid and things can change easy. This is just what it's looking like in the game show department as of right now and what CBS has been presented.

Can “Pyramid” or “Press Your Luck” Work in 60 Minutes, Hypothetically?

So during the conversation of what could possibly replace CBS's canceled soap As The World Turns, and I'm pretty sure it'll end up being a game show, we were talking about shows that could replace it.  I mentioned that I'm a bit shocked Fremantle hasn't gone after CBS hard for Press Your Luck given merchandise comes out for it and they've been looking for an outlet since CBS's Game Show Marathon.  It's also becoming pretty clear that CBS is going to want whatever daytime (game)show that comes into the lineup to be an hour long.  After that we start to get concerns of shows stretching from the original 30 minute format to 60 minutes.  A lot of us had fears of Let's Make A Deal going to 60 minutes and that worked out fine. There's really o

CBS Cancels “As The World Turns”; Could We Be Seeing “Pyramid”?

We're starting to see what the appearance of Let's Make A Deal has done to change current daytime television.  CBS announced today that the long-running soap opera As The World Turns has been canceled.  The show has been on the air for over fifty years.  Rumors of As The World Turns's cancelation has been around for a year, as we previously discussed here.  It's the second soap opera canceled in a year.  The first was Guiding Light which as we know was replaced by the incredibly fun Let's Make A Deal.  I actually think a reason we're seeing As The World Turns go away is because of the relative success that Deal has been.  It hasn't lighted the world on fire but it's improved the overall and male ratings, though the women demos went down a b

Busy, Busy Embassy Row

Variety put out a nice little article about our friends at Embassy Row.  It looks like they've got a ton of projects lined up on all sides of the coast on a multitude of different networks.  Let's start with the obvious one first.  As anyone who actually watches the show knows by now, GSN's Newlywed Game has been renewed for a second season after some good ratings for the network.  65 episodes are being produced this season and the show will move from New York to Glendale, California, for what we're being told from insiders is a wide variety of different reasons. Variety also says that Embassy Row is still waiting on the word from CBS if The ($1,000,000) Pyramid has been picked up for a series in daytime, replacing Guiding Light.  The tr
