Game Show Nominees for 38th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards Thumbnail

Game Show Nominees for 38th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards

The 38th annual Daytime Emmy Awards are rapidly approaching and, as always, game shows are being represented well.  Last year Discovery's Cash Cab (a show I still think is incredibly overrated) swept the games, winning both best game show and best host for Ben Bailey.  They'll both be back trying for yet another, but a field of others will try to keep the newest Emmy Award off their shelf.  The host this year will be Let's Make A Deal's Wayne Brady.  Click here for the full list of nominees.

“Let’s Make A Deal” Set to Tape Third Season Thumbnail

“Let’s Make A Deal” Set to Tape Third Season

The other day I asked what was the last non-primetime game show to be renewed for more than two seasons.  The last we could find was Who Wants to be a Millionaire which starts its syndicated run in 2002.  We can add another to that list.  CBS's Let's Make A Deal has apparently been picked up for a third season.  The Wayne Brady-hosted game show, which began in 2009, replaced the long running soap opera Guiding Light and has seen equal if not better ratings mixed with cheaper production costs. Click here to learn more about Let's Make A Deal.

News Flashes: Sherri Shepherd on “Millionaire”, Ratings, and Earth Day Specials Thumbnail

News Flashes: Sherri Shepherd on “Millionaire”, Ratings, and Earth Day Specials

Before we get into some bigger news later today, lets start you off with a few smaller stories that are floating around. Who Wants to be a Millionaire has scheduled its first guest host of the season.  Actress, comedienne, and host of GSN's The Newlywed Game, Sherri Shepherd, will substitute for regular host Meredith Vieira for one week only. Speaking of The Newlywed Game, the hit GSN game show is still looking for contestants. Let's Make A Deal will be celebrating Earth Day on April 22nd with environmentally-friendly and green prizes.  The Price is Right celebrates Earth Day each year and I see no reason why this would be the exception, so be on the lookout for more information regarding that soon.

Next, Ratings came out last week for syndicated and broadcast networks and it wasn't great for most shows except Jeopardy!.  With the Watson episodes factored in, Jeopardy! averaged a 7.2 rating.  Nonetheless, the week ending February 20th, Wheel of Fortune was still number one. Minute to Win It still looks like it's in serious trouble, though. And finally, Let's Make A Deal will be celebrating Earth Day on April 22nd with environmentally-friendly and green prizes.  The Price is Right celebrates Earth Day each year and I see no reason why this would be the exception, so be on the lookout for more information regarding that soon. Fall 2010 Preview: “Let’s Make A Deal”

We're continuing our look at the new Fall 2010 game show season.  This time we're shifting gears to another CBS show: Let's Make A Deal.  Wayne Brady returns as host along with announcer Jonathan Mangum and model Tiffany Coyne.  It's nice to see the first daytime game show in a very long time do relatively well enough to come back, and hopefully it continues.  If they keep up the great chemistry between the three onscreen cast members, that shouldn't be a huge problem. Read on for a picture gallery of the new season. Are you looking forward to season two?

“Let’s Make A Deal” Tapes July 9th; See It in Person Thumbnail

“Let’s Make A Deal” Tapes July 9th; See It in Person

As we previously announced, the popular CBS daytime game show Let's Make A Deal has been renewed for a second season. The Wayne Brady hosted show, along with Jonathan Mangum and Tiffany Coyne, will be returning to Los Angeles to tape another season of the show.  They are currently looking for contestants and I'd love to see some of you there.

Unlike most other shows you don't need need to audition.  Go to Deal's website to get tickets to the show.  Then show up to Sunset Bronson Studios in a costume, be energetic, and hopefully you'll get called on to win some cash, a trip, or maybe a car.  The show begins taping on Friday, July 9th.  They will tape two shows a day usually on Thursdays through Sundays.  Some other days may be thrown in throughout.

“Pyramid” And Fall 2010 Shows Need Audiences Thumbnail

“Pyramid” And Fall 2010 Shows Need Audiences

The Fall 2010 television season isn't too far away and some of your favorite game shows, including new comers, need an audience. These are mostly all Los Angeles based so if you're in that area you're in luck. The news most people are waiting for (and quite a few apparently on verge of a nervous break down to hear about given the comments everywhere) is Pyramid. The audience notice is out now, and you can get tickets here. As we reported a few days ago by us the taping will be for an hour-long show. I just want to make sure to warn those foaming at the mouth...the show hasn't been picked up yet. It's just a pilot. Don't jump to giant conclusions. I heard from multiple people a big reason the last pilot didn't sell was the tone was incredibly different from The Price is Right and they wanted something that was more of a companion show. I don't know what they are specifically looking for this time.

It can now be confirmed that, yes, Let's Make A Deal, along with Wayne, will be returning to the CBS daytime lineup Fall 2010 for a second season. No word if announcer Jonathan Mangum or Tiffany Coyne will return but I highly doubt we won't see them showing up as well.
