Chris Wallace Wins Wednesday’s “Jeopardy!” Power Players Game
All this week is Jeopardy!'s Power Players tournament. On Wednesday's edition, television personality Dr. Mehmet Oz and respected journalists Katty Kay and Chris Wallace faced off for $50,000 for charity. Chris Wallace claimed victory and took the $50,000 for Hope for the Warriors. Wallace said, "It provides all kinds of support programs for returning wounded soldiers and their families and families of the fallen. Who Wants to be a Millionaire is bringing some of America's biggest heroes onto the set to play a special "American Pride Week" of shows starting Monday, April 30th. As a throwback to the show's former "Walk In and Win" weeks, each contestant playing will be pulled from the studio audience made up of firefighters, U.S. military, and teachers. That unsuspecting person will be taken from their seat to the million dollar table, hoping to take down the top prize. Playing first this week will be Peter Flihan, a volunteer firefighter with the Briarcliff Manor Fire Department. One of the best made shows of the past ten years, The Cube, returned to ITV this weekend in great form. The Cube is one of those shows that you don't realize how much it's missed and how good it is until it's back. Beyond some new games the show you know and love returned as is hoping to give someone £250,000. The show started with a £20,000 win, but then we come to the second contestant, Jodi, who matched the £20,000. She's about play for £50,000 on a pretty difficult game. Can she do it? I can't think of a better day to show you the civilian series finale of The Bank Job, Channel 4's live quiz show taking place in a real bank, than the Ides of March. On the day made famous for backstabbing, could you stab an opponent in the back and steal £100,000? That's what finalists Scott and Stacey had to decide. Scott Gray did it again and won the five games in a row (he effectively won this one). He faces off against Stacey, who he beat last night and came back due to not having enough champions since Scott steamrolled everyone. The prize pot was up to £100,000. We've seen a large number of $100,000 wins (and three $250,000 wins) this season on Who Wants to be a Millionaire. You can add another one to that list. Earlier this week the host of Discovery's Dirty Jobs, Mike Rowe, walked away with $100,000 for his charity, mikeroweWORKS. Mike is the newest big celebrity winner, following other six figure winners such as Anthony Anderson, Suzie Essman, and the Hillstrand Brothers from Deadliest Catch. If you missed yesterday's episode of The Chase, you missed one hell of an episode. Two contestants made it to the Final Chase round, having beaten The Chaser in head-to-head trivia battles. They managed to take £50,000 back home. THey both face off against The Chaser, Anne Hegerty, to split the £50,000 and win £25,000 each. The team has two minutes to answer as many questions as they can, and then The Chaser gets two minutes to do the same. If the Chaser catches them, the team leaves with nothing. However, if they win, they'll both take home £25,000 which is the highest amount ever won per-contestant in the civilian series. The finale of Channel 4's weeklong event game show The Bank Job aired this Saturday and came with a big twist. All other nights four contestants were narrowed to one, who went into the finale with the money they took from the vault. However, for the Saturday finale, two winners were crowned. A jackpot of £467,500 was available. How did they determine how the money was going to be given away? The classic Prisoner's Dilema was brought back. British readers may know it as Share or Shaft. Americans may know it as Friend or Foe. Regardless, it asked the same question: could you steal a total of over £460,000 from a person standing inches away from you. We've got another big quiz show coming to television soon. ITV is debuting their newest, the memory-infused quiz The Exit List, on Tuesday, January 10th, at 8:00PM UK (3:00PM ET). The Exit List, hosted by Matt Allwright, puts two people into a maze. Each room is filled with cash, but each new room they enter adds more items to the "Exit List", which they must recite to win their bank. One room at the end is worth a big £100,000 for teams smart and brave enough to go that far. The show reached out to us with some pictures of the set that can only be described as incredible, a video preview of the show, plus what host Matt Allwright thinks about his upcoming gig. The Bank Job is coming January 2nd to Channel 4, and the George Lamb hosted quiz show is gearing up with some interesting ways to expose the show. First off, though, the online game hit a nice milestone. Not only that, Channel 4 is trying to bring some more exposure to The Bank Job with a series of projections across London. Throughout this week, Channel 4 are airing a special Christmas series of The Million Pound Drop: Live. It started on Monday evening and will conclude tomorrow evening (Friday). There has been a few moments within the short series so far. Comedian Micky Flanagan winning £25,000 for his charity on Monday and best friends, Craig and Seve managing to beat the drop last night at the start of the show to win £100,000.
