ABC’s “Shark Tank” Returns for New Season on January 20th
One of our favorites, the critically acclaimed ABC reality show Shark Tank, will return for a new series of episodes starting January 20th at 8:00PM ET. Yet again various entrepreneurs with big hopes and dreams will come before the Sharks, all self made millionaires in various forms of business, asking for money to fuel their own ideas. Over $6.2 million is going to be offered through the 13 episodes of the season. Returning to the show are the regular Sharks real estate mogul Barbara Corcoran, technology innovator Robert Herjavec, fashion and branding expert Daymond John and venture capitalist Kevin O'Leary. Top New Show of 2011: Number One
We've counted down what you voted as the top five new game shows of 2011. We've had an interested group of very deserving shows. Spots two through five were close. However, I don't really think there was ever a question as to what was going to win number one. Yes, you voted, far and away, ABC's Million Dollar Mind Game as the best new show of 2011. Not to diminish the other shows but the results weren't even close. Million Dollar Mind Game had over 50% of the votes, and it deserved it. We've never had a show receive so many votes. Ratings Report: Lackluster Start for “Who’s Still Standing?”
Who's Still Standing? may not be standing for much longer. NBC debuted the show last night to tepid reviews at best and the ratings show it. The debut airing scored just a 3.4/5 rating with 5.6 million viewers. Fear Factor began its second week on the air and suffered from a poor lead-in. It still had a very strong showing in the key demographic, though. You Deserve It is still on the air and it somehow lost more viewers in its fifth week. And, finally, we have syndication ratings. Ratings Report: “Fear Factor” Debuts Strong; “You Deserve It” Continues to Drop
We've got a few network game shows on television for the first time in a while so we've got an interesting ratings report. NBC debuted the newest season of Fear Factor after a five year break. It picked off right where it left off in terms of success. It's not all good for game shows, though. ABC's charity based quiz show You Deserve It inexplicably drop again. Ratings Report: “Family Feud” Near Doubles Year-to-Date; “You Deserve It” Slides
November sweeps is over. The period is historically very important for syndicated shows for the ad buying process. All game shows came out ahead. Who came out the best, though? Far and away the biggest winner is Family Feud. Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and Who Wants to be a Millionaire also all saw increases year to date. Really the only bad news is for ABC's You Deserve It, which is just not having a good run. If you're a fan of the show I'd watch it while you can. No show can last with these ratings. Pub Quiz Team Wins $600,000 on “Million Dollar Mind Game”
It's not certain if ABC's great game show Million Dollar Mind Game has a shot of showing up anywhere else, but if not they've given us more memorable moments in six weeks than many shows give us in years. This weekend brought another moment. Team Pub Quiz, all pub quiz players from around the country, came together and won $600,000 to split. Among the team members was Brad Rutter, the biggest winner in Jeopardy! history. The final vote to play for $1,000,000 or keep $600,000 was somewhat terrifying given what happened a few weeks ago, but it was a great way to end this cycle. Pub Quiz Champions Unite for “Million Dollar Mind Game” Season Finale at 4:00PM on ABC
If you're a fan of ABC's game show Million Dollar Mind Game you may not want to miss today's episode. Even if you haven't seen it yet this may be one for you. It's the season finale today at 4:00PM ET/2:00PM PT on ABC. In it, six quiz champions from across the country come together at the table to try to win $1,000,000. Who's one of the champions? The largest Jeopardy! winner in history Brad Rutter. By itself it sounds awesome. However, they do well at trivia. How can they tackle the very different incredibly tough logic puzzles the show throws at contestants at later stages? Why It’s Not a Bad Idea to Walk Away With Four Lives on “Million Dollar Mind Game”
I hope you all are having a great Thanksgiving. I'm still away so we're on auto-post more the next few days. I figured while we're on auto pilot mode that we should show you some of our favorite shows. The one we're most thankful for this year is without a shadow of a doubt the best game show to come from anywhere this year (or the past few, frankly), Million Dollar Mind Game. It airs 4:00PM ET/2:00PM PT Sundays on ABC. This past weekend saw a group of University of Texas alums sitting at the table playing. They went very, very far without missing a question or using a help. With four lives and three helps left, playing the perfect game, they play for $210,000. Ratings Report: “Family Feud” Hits High; “You Deserve It” Underwhelms in Debut
We haven't had ratings for a network game show in a while. Obviously we were all interested to see how ABC's charity quiz show You Deserved It fared with viewers. If the first episode's figures are an indicator of initial interest it's got an uphill battle ahead of it. The series debuted to 8.5 million viewers and a 1.7/5 rating in the all important 18-49 demographic. That's third place in the demo, but game shows never skew young so that's not awful. In addition, Family Feud continued its meteoric rise to the top and managed to hit a new season high. Only one show managed to go down for the week ending November 15th. GSN Acquires “Dancing With the Stars” Reruns for January 2012
Today GSN announced it has acquired the exclusive off-network rights to ABC's popular dancing game show Dancing With the Stars. GSN will be the only network to air the reruns of the celebrity dancing game hosted by Tom Bergeron which last night alone saw over 20 million viewers, many in GSN's core demographic. The network has picked up the rights to series four through 13, the current season which concludes tonight. They also have the rights to the upcoming 14th series. Season four includes former GSN host Shandi Finnessey. Former GSN's 1 VS 100 host Carrie Ann Inaba is a judge on the series. Click here to learn more about GSN's big ticket pickup.

Review: No Amount of Charity Can Save “You Deserve It”
ABC's been on a roll with game shows recently. We've had 101 Ways to Leave a Game Show, Take The Money and Run, and Million Dollar Mind Game which have all ranged from not bad to incredibly good (in that order). They can't all be winners. ABC is debuting their new charity based game show You Deserve It tonight at 9:00PM. The thought behind the show is OK. The actual game should be good. Even the host Chris Harrison is good. However, it just comes off as another lazy quiz show straight from the recent Deal or No Deal playbook. Click here to read more.
