Carnie Wilson: Unstapled Debut Week Ratings Comparison
SECOND EDIT: After the break we have the comparisons for Hidden Agenda, like promised. It’s more brutal than Carnie Wilson. It’s downright ugly.
Edit: Fixed dates
Thanks to the great people at PIFeedback, we’ve got a comparison between Carnie Wilson: Unstapled in each of its time slots and the show that was there on the week of January 4th, the last published. If you follow us on Facebook or Twitter you saw that Carnie Wilson debuted to a .3 rating. We had messed up ratings we previously published, and we apologize. The .3 was correct, but we just wanted verification before we publish again. Aren’t you glad GSN replaced so many other shows, including completely axing some classics for all of you out there that like those older shows, for this? Unstapled dropped in every single time slot. Some slots it was in the hundreds of thousands lost. We’ll have a comparison for Hidden Agenda soon.
Look, I’m not trying to be an ass to GSN or Carnie. I like Carnie. I like some people there and I’m guessing there’s one or two left there that can tolerate me. But every single person, critic or fan, repeatedly warned you about these shows, how they did in the past, and why they would not work. And we were right. I didn’t figure we would be this right, but we were right. I heard from the same sources at the same place that gave me these ratings that the numbers tumbled in week two. What’s going to happen after that? I’d be reconsidering Life At Stake and the Bunco show. Your viewers have spoken. You do well in the game show department. That’s a clear fact. Catch 21 and Newlywed Game are fun and popular. Even the shows that were on the failed Big Saturday Night were really good, but just got messed up because of the programming. You can expand the brand to other games. We saw that during the rebranding a few years back. Solitary will be looking for a new home soon. The Poker and Blackjack shows were successes. This is not the way, though. History has shown that whenever we try to distance ourselves from the genre, we end up crawling back to it, clinging on to whatever viewers we can.

Honestly, I think they'd be doing better if they didn't rerun it SO MANY DAMN TIMES! It's had, what, two episodes so far and they're rerunning it nineteen times per week? That's nine and a half hours of a show nobody wants to watch per week. And only two episodes, at that. And along with that we have nine hours of Hidden Agenda reruns! I'd be much happier seeing them do a new series of 1 vs. 100 for a lower prize. The reruns, at least those before these two shows have dominated the channel, have been pulling in surprisingly high ratings. A GSN executive would be dumb not to pick it up.

Sadly, GSN CEO David Goldhill IS too dumb to pick it (or anything that either isn't a reality show or pre-2006) up.
Off-topic, but I'd also like to add Jeff Zucker to the list of "CEOs That Should've Been Fired Yesterday".

PLEASE take Hidden Agenda off the air
Or maybe fire David Goldhill!
Attention GSN:
Repeating your show 1000 times a week doesn't help your numbers. Yes, it's something to test your show among various audiences, but it also tells the people who want to watch that they don't have to watch the premiere. Want to test the show – keep it at one time slot, see what the potential audience is, and then go from there if you want to expose it to more audiences.
This is one of the major reasons why the BIG SATURDAY NIGHT programs failed. This is one of the major reasons why Deal or No Deal will ultimately die out on the station.
Want to keep these shows – air them one day at one time slot. If the numbers remain weak, then try a different time slot. If then the numbers remain weak – then realize that people want game shows on GSN, not reality shows on one of your hosts. Kill off the show, and air the unaired segments on GSN Live through various weeks.
Too many showings lower the overall audience numbers, lowing your ad rates. With lower ad rates, you get less money in your budget.

I agree!
These non-game shows and re-runs are killing gsn.
I agree and that should be the Cry Baby, spoilt big rich girl… She is pathetic to say the least… Many girls do not have a father giving them love or much time… at 41 they are not crying about it and blaming their fathers for everything that goes wrong in their lives… least of all their glutteny… I think her husband has more patience than she deserves…
