Canwest Launching Global Reality Channel in Canada
Our Canadian readers may enjoy this update. Canwest Broadcasting announced today that they will launch Canada’s first broadcast network devoted to all reality, all the time. The channel Global Reality Channel, will launch on July 1st to Rogers VIP cable package subscribers.
The network will primarily consist of replayed program, typically of shows with new seasons available. Shows will be taken from America, England, and Canada. Right now some shows announced are Big Brother, The Apprentice UK, Project Runway Canada, Fear Factor, and Deal or No Deal Canada. More shows will obviously be filled out as time goes on to complete the lineup.
The president of Canwest Broadcasting, Peter Viner, said, “The launch of Global Reality Channel emphasizes Canwest’s commitment to delivering top channels that Canadian viewers love, and further strengthens Canwest as a leader in specialty television.”
This news is particularly interesting since America’s own experiment at an all-reality network very similar to this, Fox Reality Channel, left the airwaves in March after not a lot of success beyond Solitary.

We better be getting "Solitary" for me to put up with this. (Strongly sensing dumping of FOX Reality Channel shows to Global Reality Channel.
And I thought Tv-tropolis was suitable to host reality shows. Good luck Canwest, if you are still ought to be in business for long….
It would have been a better channel if it included CTV reality shows like American Idol, Dancing With The Stars, etc. or if it paved way for Canada to have its own reality shows like another season of Deal or No Deal Canada or a Big Brother Canada. For buying Canwest Shaw better get it too.
