NBC held an audio press conference for their new show “1 vs. 100″ (October 13th, 9PM ET) this morning, and BuzzerBlog was part of it.  There wasn’t a ton of information given that we didn’t release about 5 years ago, but we’ll throw some interesting and entertaining tidbits up here.  Read it after the jump.  Just a warning, we do have some crude language.  So, if you are offended by it, stop being so uptight!

As stated before, “1 vs. 100″ will debut October 13th at 9PM ET, following “Deal or No Deal”.  After that, it will settle into a weekly time slot for four additional weeks on Fridays at 8PM ET, leading in to “Las Vegas”.

When asked if he envisions himself as a hipper Regis Philbin or a less-obsessed Howie Mandel, host Bob Saget answered “There’s not really any genetics to it.  I’d like to think my own persona is being personified as the host of this show.  I love Howie and I am a big fan of Howie and “Millionaire”.

Also, he stated he did this show because it seemed like a hybrid of “You Bet Your Life” and “Who Wants to be a Millionaire”, both shows that he loves.  Bob Saget also feels that the show is like “Hollywood Squares was growing and didn’t start.”  Joked around was the idea of putting the cast of “The Aristocrats”, wihch has made Bob Saget more recently famous for being a dirty stand up comic.  However, also stated is the enjoyment of putting the penguins from his new movie “Farce of the Penguins” in it.

One serious question asked was about the difficulty of the game.  Executive producer Scott St. John said yes, the questions will get very difficult as it goes on, but the game does not hinge on the difficulty.  “It’s not as academic as Millionaire.  It’s not what you know: it’s how much more you know than your opponents.  The fun thing about this show is that you are always one step away from the $1,000,000.  You could win it on the first question.

The next question, directed towards Bob Saget, asked if he can deal with “The Money or the Mob” being his catch phrase, but he did list some alternatives, like “The Virus and the Antibiotic” or “The Carpet and the Drape”.  For the 1 versus 1, Mr. Saget said they should reenact Kill Bill Volume 2, how at the end of the movie Uma Thurman does her Popeye impression.  If you’ve seen the movie, you’ll know.

For his hosting style (”Interesting question if you’re like me and a narcisist”), he stated this was one of his concerns about doing the show.  “I think that’s one of the things I love about this show: you pick your spots.  Here I am, the cynical comedian, but if you’re standing next to a lady who works really hard and is excited to be on national TV, you really can’t tease her dress.  Scott has said from the beginning we want you to be yourself, be as funny as you can be.  I can call number 31 and riff on him.  We can see if anything makes it to air or not, because we’ve been told we can be TV-PG.”

As a little side note: his movie, “Farce of the Penguins” comes out in January (In the R rated genre of his stand-up comedy).  Basically he said it’s a stoner movie with march of the Penguins.  It starts people like Lewis Black, Samuel L. Jackson, Christina Applegate, and more.  And for Jackson fans, yes, he does say “mother fucker”.  In fact, mother fucker comes out of his mouth quite a bit.  I’ll definitely be seeing this, as mother fucker is a fun word in my language.
