   “Everyone is sitting around all kum-by-ya about this.” (Good quote, Cory.)

   I’d like to point out that a lot of people also called Survivor a fluke; and to be honest, I happen to believe it. The basic premise is interesting, sure, but the execution + the drama? Or rather, the execution + the standard formula that got old really fast because humans are really boring unless they have Southern accents? Yeah, bomb.
   There is a good chance that Dancing With the Stars will follow that trend, limping along for a number of years because they have a following in old Jewish women (::ahem:: how do I know that??) and pregnant fag hags until networks realize that their attempts at “diversity” (which are thinly veiled attempts to quiet those like myself who call for more women, people of color, and queers on TV) are just wasting money to woo people who are already in love with their networks.

   Oh my holy god, did I just think about TV?
   What is wrong with me?
   Feel free to call me a bloody moron for this.

   Seriously, though, if you have a valid reason to think my theory is bunk, trot it out, Gordon. I’m sure the Buzzer Boys would welcome a bit of debate in the comments…

   There are some very simple reasons why Dancing with the Stars is a hit -

   1. It’s on a Wednesday night, which has always been a good night for ABC.

   2. It’s up against repeats and..ahem…The inside (yecch), while not up against anything else noteworthy in particular.

   3. The reason why the show is a success is due to old Jewish women and fag hags? Old Jewish women and Fag Hags, being in the minority, do not pull up a 16.2 rating with a 25 share - not to mention your phrase blatantly insults people of Jewish descent (of which I am) and fag hags (of which I am not).

   4. Diversity? Only 1 person in the group was not caucasian (Holyfield) and he was bounced early in the competition. In addition, there were no ‘queers’ (as you’d like to call them) competing.

   5. In terms of it’s future, the show will remain a hit as long as it realizes that it is what it is - a Summer show that is different and that will do well against repats and other Summer filler. It will get itself into trouble when it thinks that it is anything greater than that and tries to oversaturate it in the market (ie. Millionaire and the Last Comic Standing series).

   Now where’s that interview?
