Brutal Results on “The Price is Right” Showcase

The Price is Right isn’t exactly a hotbed of excitement and danger.  It’s usually just people winning a dining room or smiling when they lose.  Today, though, had probably one of the most painful and depressing moments I’ve ever seen on the show.  It came during the Showcase round, with contestant Jeffrey playing for a Porsche, an extremely expensive and rare prize for the show.  The usually groan-free happy show turned into face-covering depression as we saw the results.  Take a look.  I don’t think I’ve ever heard a reaction like that on Price from an audience, but it was needed.  What a brutal and heartbreaking outcome.

Man, what a painful loss. I think it was even more painful a few years ago when a contestant was only over by $1.

Right, I remember that. I keep wondering why people aren't saying that one isn't more painful, but then I remember the Porsche…

$176, but what's the difference? It's still painful either way.

And yes, I kinda forgot that I won–I mean, I kinda knew that THAT meant that I won, but I felt so terrible for him–it's that kind of moment where you can't really celebrate your win until you let the sting of the overbid set in.

This is painful. My heart goes out to you both.

That was rough, but today's (Jan. 22) was even rougher…poor girl had a shot at a car (not quite a Porsche, but still a car, for cryin' out loud!) and other stuff that I can't remember off the top of my head, and she missed it by LESS than $100.

I have a totally different slant on this experience.. To my way of thinking if the other guy, Jeffrey, was only a couple of hundred over and Joshua was $ 16,000 plus over, how is Joshua, the winner ?? Isn't the winner that is the least over the winner in cases of a double over-bid ?? What gives here.

Oops.. My mistake.. Joshua was UNDER by $ 16,000 and not over. Forget my last comments.

  • Craig says:

Uh, no, my friend. A double overbid is just that. Nobody wins because no one was nearest to the actual retail price WITHOUT going over. Having double overbids once in awhile certainly helps the budget out.

Which is exactly why I feel like a total jerk for winning the way I did…it's obvious Jeffrey made the better bid, but he got a little too bold.

get that carney stuff off our game network. She is ok on Newly Wed game but that is the only show she should
be doing. I sure would like to see more of the Super Pass word, family fued —the game shows— there are
many of them–why do we only get Deal or No Deal Carney unstapled – hidden agenda—come on the old
game shows were the good ones.
