Sweet! Do we know who’s going to be hosting?

  • Alex Davis says:

Sadly not right now. We are hunting it down, though.

  • Adam says:

How can I become a contestant on it?

  • Alex Davis says:

We’re trying to figure everything out. Stay tuned over the next few weeks. NATPE hasn’t even hit and we’re already getting news way earlier than we expected.

  • William says:

    I don’t have a question, but I do have a comment on this…

I’M SO SO HAPPY THAT TEMPTATION’S COMING TO TOWN!

  • Alex says:

I wonder if it’ll be shown in Seattle (Hopefully on KMYQ[MyQ2] 22, so to speak if you’re wondering.)

  • Wheelloon says:

Maybe you can help clarify something for me Alex (or whoever) if you know anything more about how this is being planned on working, or at least, at the current moment.

Temp is going into syndication, yet it’s confirmed for those 10 affiliates you mentioned. That doesn’t sound like syndication (to a point). Will the show be offered, at a later point, to other stations who might wanna carry it (Fox-owned, Fox-operated, one or the other, or neither). I don’t get a MyN station locally, and the local Fox station (which shows WoF and J! as well) is owned by the ppl who own the local CBS station, and with what I’m reading right now, it doesn’t sound like, with the current workings, I’ll be getting Temp, which would make me very sad… :(

In the end though, I guess I can just be happy with the fact SoTC is back in the U.S., where IT NEEDS TO STAY AWHILE! ;)

    Oh, YEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSS!

    Game Show fans REJOICE!

(Theme starts) “Today, one of our contestants could win a dinette group, a fun digital camera, a beautiful brass bed, or a trip to Hawaii……..!

…and continue on a journey towards a fortune in cash and prizes, like this brand new LINCOLN…! …and $XXX,000 in cash!

In total, over $XXX,000 on TEMPTATIONS….the all new (echo) SALE OF THE CENTURY…….and now here’s the star of the show…

    (I know this won’t happen but…)

    …JIM PERRY! hehe

  • Jordan S. says:

Which makes me think…. how much is this syndicated program honestly going to be offering in terms of prizes?

I doubt we’ll be seeing a mega cash jackpot of $1 million or so, put it that way… $250,000, perhaps.

  • Mike says:

Regarding wheelloon’s post, I don’t think this is any different from, say, “H2″ airing on all of the CBS O&O’s. The Fox-owned MNTV affiliates just got first dibs on the show – now the show just needs to get cleared in other markets.

  • Alex says:

Something tells me the Jackpot will be significant, as several Aussie winners have had total winnings above 500,000 Australian dollars. I would guess the US jackpot would be at least $250,000, maybe half a million, and most likely progressive. Anyways, I loved $ale of the Century reruns when they were on (USA? The Family Channel? I forget…), so I am definitely looking forward to seeing Temptation coming stateside :)

  • Wheelloon says:

Ahhh, okay, I see what could be going on. Thanks for the insight Mike. This makes me feel a lot better indeed. :)

  • Joe Mello says:

For those who are concerned that there will be a lack of networks, remember that Wheel of Fortune didn’t exactly hit the big markets at the start and look where it is now.

I think it’s officially “game on” in the syndie GS world.

  • Julia says:

Anyone who thinks this show will offer anything more than a $10,000-50,000 jackpot does not pay attention to syndicated jackpots. The Australian version is on network TV, and not syndicated. This version will be scaled down budget wise. If we were to see it on network TV, then I’d say about $250,000 to $500,000. But, syndicated will not get a big jackpot at all. Especially if all the low-rated Fox owned MyNetwork TV stations got a first crack at it. That just screams low prize budget. Prize budget does not matter to me. The final prize could be a trip to wine country, or even a board game version of Temptation, for I care. If the format is good, and the host is good, that’s all that matters to me.

  • Nick Todor says:

NEW INFORMATION (but it’s not much):

Those 10 stations alone cover 24% of the country (which makes sense, since they’re all in the top 25 markets), but Fox is asking other stations to double-run it. Also, there will be 7 minutes of commercials for each episode: 2 minutes for national, 5 minutes for local.

  • Jason says:

Let’s hope WNYO 49 Buffalo picks it up so viewers in Western New York and southern Ontario (with digital cable) will be able to watch at a conveinent time slot.

  • Chris says:

Local Sioux City has Pappas Telecasting owning the MyTV affiliate, the FOX and the CBS affiliate in the town, the only of the 3 running gameshows atm is the CBS affiliate, I could see them pairing this together with Millionaire, Jeopardy or Wheel.

  • Wheelloon says:

They’re not gonna pair it with J! or Wheel, that GS power hour WILL NOT change as long as the ratings stay where they are now (which will be for quite awhile).

I see them pairing Temp with Feud in some areas, especially since Fremantle is involved in its production (or at least, until 2008). If one of the other GS’s being worked on for syndication is approved, say, Catchphrase (also by Fremantle), I could also easily see Temp being paired with that too.

Either way, as long as it doesn’t get “Feud-ish” type slots to air, I have high hopes for the show… :D

  • Brandon says:

Sale’s one of my favorites, so I’m very optimistic about this, esp. since syndie Deal is in limbo, and Joker/Combination are still up in the air.

Would love to see some of their other projects get greenlights as well.

  • Intelligentfan777 says:

Well, if Temptation is the only new syndie game we get for ’07, I think we should still be very thankful, it probably is THE best new game we could possibly get for syndication. It will add some fun and variety to the current crop, and be a welcome new addition.

  • scott meckley says:

I also use to love Sale Of The Century too and wish that GSN would pick up the Jim Perry version of the show along with Scrabble but I’m happy that we are getting a sale revival except calling it Temptation. I think that Todd Newton, Mark. L. Walberg or Mark Summers should host Temptation.

  • scott meckley says:

I think around $50,000-$100,000 jackpot would be good for this version.

  • Eric says:

A few concerns here. My first one is obvious. Whoever they get to host the show is gonna be compared to Jim Perry. Who by the way was an excellent host. Secondly, I am very concerned that Freemantle might mess up another PRETTY GOOD GAME SHOW! Everyone remembers their version of Card Sharks right? lol

  • J.R. says:

My guess is that the actual format of the show will be very similar to that of the current Australian version, except with not quite as large of a budget.

  • Danny says:

I’d like to see Sotc on GSN now that Temptation is coming to the US, but we’ll see.

  • Zach says:

People of the DE valley, pray that WPHL-Philadelphia picks this show up.

  • Brad Hasbrouck says:

Despite my local Fox station does not air any syndicated game shows.

However, I think KQDS-Duluth would pick this show up.
