Breaking News: MyNetwork Wants to Add Game Shows
Remember all those syndicated shows that we reported on before? They might not all be syndicated. TVWeek is claiming that MyNetwork, which basically airs all failing telenovelas, is thinking about adding game shows. “MyGamesFever”, a PlayMania clone, was announced ages ago and is apparently coming to fruitation. Also, the shows claimed to be possibly syndicated, “Connections” from Granada, “Catch Phrase”, and “Temptations” from Fremantle, might be exclusives to MyNetwork rather than syndication. We aren’t 100% sure so take it with a grain of salt, but we’re strongly assuming that “Temptations” is “Temptation”, the new version of “Sale of the Century”. We will keep you updated.

MyGamesFever was actually on MyNetwork the other day around 2pm EST.
Let me just say it was horrid.
Taking into account my MNTV station is on a digital subchannel and on Cloquet Mediacom’s basic cable lineup (and not part of the DishNet Duluth/Superior locals package), I’m probably not missing much of “myGames Fever”. I’ve seen a few clips that were featured on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” last night. I really hope that MNTV does add the games mentioned on this post and that “Temptations” (or “Temptation”, I’m assuing that’s a misprint/mistype) will the new version of $otC.

I do keep my fingers crossed, that we will see these three shows on MyNetwork. And hopefully if the popularity is there, it will open the door for other networks to follow suit.
It’s interesting that they are looking at game shows. They originally announced that they were developing the Celador show “America’s Brainiest” for the US; maybe they’ll resume development on that project.
If not, I hope that they pick up “Temptation”, since that show deserves a US run and would probably work best in a daily format.
Since I don’t get MyNetwork, my view is a bit self-centered, but I hope they don’t go on there. I actually hadn’t even heard of MyNetwork until this news broke.
I’d rather the games go into syndication, where they have the ability to reach a much bigger audience than they would, obviously, with MyNetwork…
In the end though, if the games even make it on the air, in any way, shape or form, being 100% a dedicated game show fan, I’ll be thankful… :)
Luckily, I did get MyNetwork on one of the stations where I am. I never even liked MyNetwork until I saw this, so it’s a possibility for me.
Interesting that Catchphrase could be a MNTV show. That might work quite well for them. And Temptation(s) sounds fantastic.
Maybe have one game night a week? Catchphrase, at least, ought to be a half-hour format, and I think Temptation is in a 30-minute slot in Australia too. I think Britain’s Brainiest might have been one hour, I certainly think MNTV would take the format (which, incidentally, is almost certainly owned by 2waytraffic now – they bought all Celador’s formats, not just Millionaire) and drag it into an hour-long show. Can’t speak for Connections, it hasn’t aired anywhere yet – but as Granada are part of ITV, you can bet it’s going to get a shot here in the UK.
MyNetTV is an offsuit of the WB and UPN crashing away… for those not having MyNetwork TV locally, I do remember a dish network post above, MyNetwork TV is on 236 and 238 on Dish Network (played MyGamesFever Friday Noon-2p)
But yes… it does go…
PlayMania
MidnightMoneyMadness (TBS)
MyNetwork Fever (MNTV) — A really dumbed down version of MMM, hell they couldn’t get a word puzzle, they did almost nothing bur anagrams/chains. (One note however: The cash payouts are higher on Fever than PlayMania, and that’s not even CLOSE! smallest prize I saw while watching was $725)
Oddly enough, I was posting in the GSN Threads about Temptation. Looks great and hope that someone here in the states would run it and run it well.
This sounds like a cool idea, and I wish MNTV the best. It’s good that they’re realizing that varying the lineup means something other than revolving soap operas every 13 weeks.
Even thought the logo sucks, I thinks will do some good for once.
I have never commented on any TV show before, however I just have to regarding this one. It can be summed up easily – a complete disaster and an insult to any person’s intelligence – just HORRIBLE!
