OK, I did promise this yesterday, but hey, I'm a busy guy. Deal or No Deal is NBC's new one-week "Super Millionaire"-esque game show smash. Airing all this week, Howie Mandel hosts this million-dollar extravaganza. Since the rules of the game has been reviewed many different times here at Buzzer, I'm just going to jump into my review. If this show becomes a regular series, then it will bomb. As a one-week excursion, it is excellent. This game is not about the music or the sound. Thus, it is under-par and not worth mentioning. The on-screen graphics are good and adequate for what is required from the game. I don't like the set. I don't like the setup of the set. It looks good. The neon and the changing colors is a good touch. The on

So, GSN has done documentaries before. Big Bucks: The Press Your Luck Scandal? Good. The video game one? Ehhh... not so much. But GSN's rolling out a new series of documentaries chronicling winners: maybe by cheating, maybe by sneakiness, maybe by any means necessary. The first episode is about Rosie Ruiz and the Boston Marathon. For those not in the know, Ruiz won the Boston Marathon woman's race in 1980. Funny thing was, no one saw her throughout the race. Although she denies cheating, the official winner was deemed Jacqueline Gareau. But that's not for here. You can read more after I'm done. The presentation that GSN has is on par with documentary shows like those on CourtTV or the Discovery channel. It has excellent historical cli

An interesting post from AgencyFAQs.com (which seems to be from 2000, but Google News is funny like that) notes how and why an Indian version of Survivor wouldn't necessarily work. Check it out to see not only how Indian producers think, but how they view our culture. Link - AgencyFAQs.com

They say Americans aren't too bright. But stupidity isn't as American as Apple Pie. The Sun Online has a good compilation of stupid people saying stupid things all while other people watch/listen. My personal favorite on this list? The very last one, featured on Daryl's Drivetime on Virgin Radio. Daryl Denham: In which country would you spend shekels? Contestant: Holland? Denham: Try the next letter of the alphabet. Contestant: Iceland? Ireland? Denham (helpfully): It's a bad [telephone connection]. Did you say Israel? Contestant: No. The Sun Online

Poker, like many "sports," is ever-evolving. The elements of style and play are always changing. The "Young Bloods," as the wily old vets like to call the under-30 crowd, has a different, rogue style of play. GSN is capitalizing on this strategic kind of play with Poker Royale: Battle of the Ages, premiering with two back-to-back episodes on Friday, November 4 at 10:00PM ET/PT. Representing the poker masters are TJ Cloutier (six World Series of Poker bracelets), Dan Harrington (appeared at back-to-back final tables at the 2003 and 2004 World Series of Poker where he won over $2,000,000), “Miami” John Cernuto (three World Series of Poker bracelets), Barbara Enright (best all around 2002 Legends of Poker), Maureen Feduniak (1st Place 2003

On the week of October 10 (That's next week, if you're keeping score at home), GSN is showing a week of Nipsey Russell episodes of Match Game, from 3:30-4:00 ET/PT. The episodes will span 4 years of Nipsey's run on Match Game, the years of 1974 through 1978. Russell passed away on Sunday in New York City. His illustrious career included a role in the movie "The Wiz" with Michael Jackson and on various game shows, including "Pyramid" and of course, "Match Game."

Common Bonds for $600. After much deliberation between Mike, Alex, and myself, we have determined that "Around the Bend" by Pearl Jam is a crappy song. While Mike and Alex were determining how crappy indeed "Around the Bend" by Pearl Jam really is, I snuck into the back and changed the site around. Seriously, it was all three of us who changed the site around. It's less graphics intensive in terms of interface, and everything is much cleaner all around. Besides, blue is *sooo* TVGameshows.net. We're not them. :-D So, if you have comments, positive or negative, please leave them. If you leave positive ones, then we we'll get back to you on them. :-D

Who would win in a fistfight: GSN or OLN? Personally, I'd give it to OLN since, you know, they're the Outdoor Life network, and they're always outside and built and stuff, but I digress. This isn't quite a fistfight, but it's just as funny. GSN's CEO Rich Cronin bet OLN's President Gavin Harvey that if Amazing Race lost to Survivor in the ratings, then Cronin would "race" to and from work for a week, a walk equaling 8 miles a day. If Survivor lost to TAR in the ratings, then Harvey would have to eat a live cricket. Guess who won? "The results are in and GSN’s THE AMAZING RACE averaged 355,000 total viewers each night in prime time, peaking with 495,000 on July 14. This measurement was based on the one-month period from July 11 to

Variety is reporting that ABC is looking for television shows to line their lackluster Saturday lineup. Their bright idea: being a cheapass. According to the article at Variety, ABC is specifically looking for "big ideas" that can be done on a budget of about $500,000 per episode. ABC suggests ripping off of the Amazing Race, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, or WWTBAM to create something that can draw attention away from Saturday Night Live. Fox has remained a player on Saturday, often winning the night in young adults with firstrun unscripted staples "Cops" and "America's Most Wanted." Univision remains a force with Spanish-language "Sabado Gigante." As an afterthought, the article mentions that a "big hit" might be made in this exper

On Thursday, September 29, GSN will begin its run of the Emmy Award-winning seventh edition with a two-hour premiere featuring the infamous “Survivor” couple "Boston" Rob and Amber. Wednesday night will have contestants of season 6 saying Aloha, because GSN will feature the two-hour finale of the sixth edition of THE AMAZING RACE. The finale of the sixth edition ends with the final four teams racing for the one million dollar grand prize in Honolulu, Hawaii. Season 7 was, IMO, one of the best seasons that TAR has had, and it'll be great to finally relive this season once again.
