Not to be remotely jingoistic, but hopefully we’ll get some American news soon. However, I’m sure some of you will enjoy some news and pictures about the new Australian revival of the hit show Gladiators. Seems like they are going for an even more British route than we did. However, a large amount of their Gladiators look like the casting department said, “Look at what the American Gladiators look like! Hey, I have an idea, let’s not be original. Let’s get people who look oddly similar and have many of the same themes.” Plus some of the names are downright crappy. Angel? Destiny? Sounds like a girl group reunion tour.
Their list of games puts ours to shame, though. They are basically getting a lot of the same events that we had, but they are including some great ones as well that we were missing, like Atlasphere. There are also some games which Americans might not be familiar with, like Pendulum, Sumo Ball, Suspension Bridge, and Vertigo. You can check out some pictures here.
And now the question to keep us all entertained. What events would you like to see come back for season two of NBC’s American Gladiators?

The two events I’d like to see back? Swingshot and Atlasphere
and there is some news on the AG front- the tapings start April 8th, and they’re getting a new set- They’re going to be in an actual arena this time (LA Sports Arena) so it will be larger than season 1..

Do not bring back Atlosphere, it was lame, no contact, and low scoring.
The event I really want to come back is Whiplash, which was around for the tail end of AG’s original run.
As far as a second season is concerned, more events, less talking, and clean up the eliminator (no purpose to the barrel roll and no penalty for falling off the handbike).
Outside of that, all is well

I’m so glad I waited to post my response b/c if David’s fact about the Sports Arena is true, that eliminates my major concern. That pool really shrunk the rest of the games which is a shame. It makes tons of sense to be there since the Clippers aren’t there anymore and whatnot.
I second Atlasphere and I’d add a NORMAL Assault. If I could add some of the international games (limiting myself only to the ones mentioned on the link…there are TONS more I’d consider) I’d add Pendulum and Suspension Bridge. Pendulum was a favorite when I watched the International tourneys. Suspension Bridge would be easy because you can take the bridge for Hit and Run and get different shaped pugil sticks.
As a side note, I’ve never seen Vertigo before until today thanks to YouTube. Looks weird….I like it. You could say it’s the world’s response to Skytrack. But think about how the male gladiators here would STRUGGLE with this, BIG TIME. Also, I know I’ve said this offline, but I think no matter what country, all male Gladiators named Wolf are my collective heroes and should be yours too.
here’s the ticket website..

Hmm, not really - Vertigo was invented in the UK, but we had Skytrak as well. It was different to the US one though, it was in a figure of eight and had Glads chasing contestants.
Atlasphere definitely needs to come back, especially if they are moving into a bigger arena. I’d love to see Pole Axe, but then they would probably make the players wear safety harnesses, which would make it no fun. Sumo Ball looks like fun, too.
On a side note, I’d like to see a permanent ticker at the top or bottom of the screen, like what you would see on Sunday Night Football.
I’d love to see Atlasphere and Whiplash, personally.
seems American Glads is going with Vertigo with the vertigo poles spotted outside the LA Sports Arena, also expect to see Whiplash and/or Atlaspheres to build up their game pool before it seems, a new International Gladiators series vs Australia and the US.
