April Fool’s Jokes

Trebek bearing a mustache We had April Fool’s jokes a-plenty this year, the most in this decade for sure.

Jeopardy: Alex Trebek came out with a mustache.  I prefer the real one.

Wheel of Fortune: It’s kinda been spoiled on YouTube already, but here it is:

The Price is Right: The first April Fool’s showcase in as much as 25 years:

They couldn’t even provide some cash to pay for some gasoline for that gas-guzzling convertible.

    Nice April Fools’ prank though!!

  • Chad Mosher says:

I was also wondering throughout the show if the winning contestant on Wheel of Fortune was part of an April Fools gag. Between her not knowing where exactly a luau is from and her husband not really giving too much of a damn (Pat: “I’m the only man who can make a free trip sound like a threat.”), I thought it could’ve been a convincing prank.

I wonder how many times did Rich have to rehearse the copy for the april fool’s showcase before he didn’t trip up. lol, trans-rebounder

  • Chris Parsley says:

You missed that GSN aired the “April Fools” episodes of Whammy, etc last nite (wierd to see Gram Elwood do Whammy!

  • JD Nole says:

I happened to tune in to J! and noticed Alex’s mustache, but don’t watch regularly enough to know if he IS indeed trying to grow it back. IIRC, they never mentioned anything about it and he didn’t rip it off (like Pat’s “hairpiece” :) ), so I got fooled!

While watching “TPIR” yesterday, I started to catch on when I saw the trip to “Boguslyvania”. Man, I have been waiting to actually see one of these showcases when they first aired. According to the behind the scenes book written by contestant coordinator/music director Stan Blits, he says they stopped doing it after a certain number of years because people were starting to expect it around this time of year.

  • Chad says:

I think that they should do a TPIR April Fools Showcase once every few years, so it’s not completely predictable but it’s not a rarity either.

  • MrQuiz says:

If you’re familiar with Steve Beverly’s website,(tvgameshows.net) there was an April Fools’ Day prank he pulled several years ago, which was devilishly clever. I bit into it like a starved Great White! (I wasn’t the only one, though.) The gag was that there was going to be a revival of SPLIT SECOND, with a $1M payoff, and the five cars up for grabs to the winner were to be high-end luxury makes (none stipulated). But the hook of the prank, was that the show’s original host, TOM KENNEDY was coming out of retirement to emcee it. As Bugs Bunny would’ve said at trhe time, “…what a Gulli-BULL!”

I enjoyed the April Fool’s Day jokes, as well.

However, I thought TPIR had done one a few years ago…I don’t remember when, or the details. However, I do remember Terri Harrison getting SOAKED by a pail of water, at the end of the showcase. I may be wrong, but I thought that showcase was a prank.

  • Marc Power says:

jaymich, I know they did that to Holly once but maybe they did it to Terri too.

and yeah mrquiz I remmebr those tvgameshows.net pranks. my personal fav was they announced that Dick Clark was to host the syndie millionaire (which at the time was very believable) lots of people fell for that. I remmebr the flashgames message baord (which was still running at the time) being pumpeled with excited fans.

  • Quincy Hughes says:

These were all great! Outside of the pranks, that bonus round was the funniest in “Wheel of Fortune” history!

  • Alex says:

I didn’t see that night’s Wheel and Jeopardy!

The Price is Right, however, had me LMFAO! As soon as I saw that trip, I somehow knew what was coming! =P

  • Ken C says:

The Pranks on Hollywood Squares we’re epic! Seeing John Davidson and Tom Bergeon faces on that day were priceless!
