Another Preview of Steve Harvey on “Family Feud”

The reception to the Steve Harvey @Family_Feud clips we showed off a few weeks ago was really great, which is nice.  I figured many of you would want to see more.  The show recently uploaded another clip, so check it out if you haven’t seen it.  This is Steve interacting with one particular family member during a main game question.  The result is extremely funny.  If he keeps this up and the show ends up being like this, its an incredibly good sign for the long running show.

Funny clip. Steve injects a bit of the Ray Combs mentality into hosting FF (whether or not Steve realizes it).

As a bit of disclosure, I work at a TV station that’s been the home to the current version of “the feud” since it started with Louie back in ’99. Really looking forward to the season ahead.

Steve Harvey has a more comedic backround than John O’Hurley with his jokes. I’m not a fan of going back to 20K for Fast Money, and still keeping it at 5-dollars-a-point if you don’t get to 200 or more points. They should at least offer a 5K bonus if you can get all five top answers on the “Fast Money” surveys.

Another great clip! I was not a fan of O’Hurley, and I’m really looking forward to this season.

  • MrQuiz says:

I asked this before, and I’ll ask again…Could we be seeing the second coming of Richard Dawson, here?

  • James Greek says:

Steve Harvey I think he is the black Richard Dawson. He has a touch of Ray too.

  • Tataki says:

    Absolutely hilarious. ^_^
Reminds me of the “over a fire” clip from Family Fortunes.

I was rolling laughing at the other clips we were given, and I all but fell out of my chair at this one. Can’t wait for the new season to come out!

  • "Game Show Man" Joe Van Ginkel says:

Man, this clip is so full of win. Forget second coming of Dawson, this is the second coming of Combs. I cannot wait for the new season to start.

  • Paul says:

These clips are definitely showing a lot of POTential in new season of Family Feud.

Sorry, I find Steve’s jokes too dry for me. It’s not funny at all. Steve may have clicked when he had Cedric the Entertainer and loving Regina as Steve Hightower (I liked his full head of hair back when he had it) on his named sitcom (1996-2002), but when it comes to his job on the Family Feud, his jokes are way too forced and that his ego is like standing water. I don’t hate him as a person but he just does not work at all as the host of Feud. I also can’t stand the fact they had to make the podiums like the WTC Twin Towers which is sad because were nearing the 9th anniversary of the 9/11/2001 terror attacks. If they could make the podiums another shape or form, it would look better than the rectangle WTC tower in which the buzzer reflects the North Tower. Another thing besides the fact that the $5 a point has been the standard for fast money and the prize is reduced to $20K. So I may give Feud a shot this year, but other than that, the people who made the new podiums must have had someone related to the 9/11 tragedy or lived in NYC at the time. So sorry, but I think this will be the end of this current era of Family Feud. Nice job.

    • dropzone5 says:

So you’re saying it’s the end of the Feud because the Face-off podium looks like the Twin Towers.

I’m not seeing it, first of all, and second of all, as far as I can remember, no game show ever was cancelled because a prop resembled something symbolic of a tragedy, or had anyone think it resembled something symbolic of a tragedy.

On another note, I heard they actually made it $6 a point for Fast Money losses? It’s not a huge change, but it’s a change…

      • Jack says:

I’m not saying that it’s cancelled because of the fact that the podiums looked like the WTC towers and the fact that the buzzer well look at the original post, but by the hosting gig of Steve Harvey. I can’t see him being funny because he’s no Steve Urkel or Will Smith (Now that’s funny with bot of them being on Family Matters or Fresh Prince), I’m very uncertain with Steve’s jokes, because they look as if he recycled them from his long cancelled sitcom and from the Original Kings of Comedy. They may have been funny then, but it just doesn’t work now. if only Cedric the Entertainer was his sidekick announcer, it would work well. The chemistry with Steve and Joey Fatone doesn’t jive. But other than that, I’m not looking too excited to watch the Feud. I’m saying this is the swan song lame duck season for Family Feud.

        • jhshifris says:

Are you telling us that Family Feud will be cancelled because of what you said about the whole 9/11 thing? The podiums don’t look like that. As for Steve Harvey hosting the show, it’s about time that Family Feud had a change. New set, new graphics and a new host.

So what if the podiums changed?

          • Jack says:

It will reflect on how the show will carry out in the future. The podiums for the families changed isn’t that bad to tell you the truth. However, I think the only thing that would be good is if Todd Newton would be the host of Family Feud since he did a great job when he voiced for the 2006 Family Feud Video game. Steve Harvey is the modern day Bill Cosby in while he can be funny, his jokes dry out too quickly while Bill Cosby’s humor stays true to stand the test of time. I also think that the Feud could benefit from having parting gifts for the losing families. They did during the Richard Karn and John O’Hurley era by giving away the video games. But so what if the Podiums change. They did a poor job of how they designed it. The eggcate podiums are what defined the Family Feud. Now they just threw the eggcate look out the window with a reflective podiums in which IMO is saddening. Although I and everyone has their opinions, I think this is as honest as I will get.

    • Jim says:

Jack, what is your malfunction? Honest to God, what is wrong with you? Are you some sort of conspiracy theorist who likes to equate everything to 9/11? (EX: You see two flag poles next to each other and your gears get grinded.) For a guy who doesn’t want to blame the demise of the show on such a thing, you love referencing it every chance you can.

Before I really start throwing words and profanities in that direction, let me say the show looks to be in decent hands. I was very skeptical of Steve after seeing his Millionaire fill in run, but he’s proven himself as a fine successor to O’Hurley. The $20,000 question is how much of this stuff stays in the final product and not on the cutting room floor? We live in a day and age where shows are edited with chainsaws all to squeeze out 9-10 minutes (or more) of commercials per half hour. Moments like the one seen above are rare anymore on TV, and in my estimation, were what helped make game shows so much fun to watch years ago.

      • LaJuan says:

Completely agree. Uber-editing has ruined the half-hour genre in my eyes (even if it did hurt the American Gladiators revival too). Darn you, corporate America!!!

Is there a Need an Answer Buzzer (buzz buzz buzz) for this season?
