“American Gladiators” Season Two Pictures

Posted by Alex Davis On May - 2 - 2008

The second season of American Gladiators has been taping in the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, and to say the set is larger this year is an understatement. It’s unbelievably massive. Sadly, though, there are not any gigantic pictures of the set, but we do have these shots of some of the events. Click them to expand the image. As you see in the first one, they put caps over the Powerball scoring zones so you can’t make a free throw anymore. One of the pictures is also of the new event Vertigo. It looks to be pretty exciting. All told we’re hearing there may be up to seven new events total this season so it seems they learned from some of their mistakes last time around. Enjoy!

An NBC promo revealed two of the other ‘new’ games that will be added — they’re both revivals from the first AG incarnation:

    Sky Track and Swingshot.

  2. David Said,

Actually, that’s not Swingshot- it’s a new game called Rocketball (it’s sorta Swingshot in reverse…the players have to throw balls into goals while launching themselves in the air)

Here’s the full list of games that are new this season:

Skytrack (the UK version, not the US one)

    Atlasphere

    Snapback

    Tilt (UK version of Tug-o-war)

    Rocketball

    Vertigo

Sideswipe (not much known about this one)

  3. Ben Z. Said,

I am “glad” (pun intended) that they are adding new games. I do question some of their new game choices. I love Atlasphere and Skytrack. However, I just saw a video of Vertigo from the UK Gladiators. Here it is: http://youtube.com/watch?v=msOi6mQBTGc I must say, I was not overly excited. It’s an interesting idea, but as far as a contender vs. gladiator race, I prefer the Pole-Axe. Check it out here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ahwsoBdwPnU I was never a fan of Snapback. In fact, in my opinion, it was one of the things that helped the original AG to Jump the Shark. Tug-of-War was a fun game. Based on what David said about Rocketball, it seems like what the Brits called Catapult: http://youtube.com/watch?v=okpP1_VUjgA&feature=related If this is correct, then again it doesn’t thrill me, because I saw it when they did it on “Guts.” I hope I’m wrong. As far as Sideswipe, I am intrigued. I think this will be an interesting season, and I wish it well.
