What the show is looking for, according to the casting call -- Must own a home in Southern California -- Must have teens and/or kids, ages 7-21, living with you (those older and younger can appear on the show, but can't play) -- Questions specifically asked in a brief questionnaire include what home improvements contestants could use, any financial hardships the contestants have endured and, in CAPS, whether they own a home. They also request a photo of the front of the home, which makes me wonder whether they are specifically looking for homes, say, with some kind of front and backyard (no condo or apartment-style homes, for instance). "Sample" prizes are mentioned, including "paying off debt," flat-screen TV, refrigerator and a kids' bedroom set. This sounds like Extreme Makeover: HE for families that failed to make the cut for Ty Pennington's show.
