Sudden game show announcement: ABC today announced the scheduling of a new game show “National Bingo Night”, and I wish I was kidding but it’s exactly as it sounds. However, people at home can play along by printing off their own cards from a site at ABC.com, which will be different than the in-studio contestant’s cards, and mark off as the show goes along. At-hone players can win prizes redeemed online. Each episode will have three Bingo cards played. Ed Sanders hosts. “National Bingo Night” will air May 18th at 9PM ET, and will consist of six episodes, on ABC.
Oh they better make some changes to the format of Bingo, because I can think of nothing more boring than watching this. I’m not sold on the idea, but who knows. Any opinions?
Edit: I fixed the host name. Cynopsis had the wrong name in its report. Sorry about that.

Actually, it’s Ed SANDERS…who’s part of *Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” who is the host.
One contestant search I saw said this is the revamped version of *Easy Money,* a pilot ABC announced some time ago (believe you had a post on it some time back).
ABC announced last year that it was looking for low-budget programming options for Friday and Saturday nights. IOW, cheap game, reality and “miscellaneous” shows that cost less than $500,000 an episode to produce. *The National Bingo Game* is the first in this directive.

Formats like this could make America feel happy for summer reruns.

Hell, if that’s their plan for the weekends, ABC should bring back The Match Game and maybe a “$250,000 Pyramid” and develop new games to go around them. I’m already bored with this Bingo show.

Didn’t Monty Hall used to host something called “Bingo at home”? I remember he also thought that show was boring. Hint, hint ABC? Bring back Super Millionaire if you can’t think of any good ideas! At least that was a show worth watching!

And if you somehow want to play in-studio, here’s the casting info.

BINGO cards have 552 septillion possible combos. Can you see a possible $10 MILLION prize for a 4-number BINGO win? Or a $1 MILLION coverall game? This will easily top “5th Grader” as the surprise of the year.

What happened to Easy Money? I thought there was going to be a bluffing element. You can’t bluff in Bingo so, this must be an entirely different project. The casting call is being done by the same people with the exact same wording as Easy Money. I guess ABC wasn’t crazy about the original concept and told Glassman to come up with something else.

I like the comment #11 from BG Gardiner. Sounds like fun and I like the suggestion of celebrities. I can not stand all the reality shows and game shows that are on now. We need something a little more fun and interesting. Ah for the old variety shows!!! Kids now days don’t even know what a variety show is and you can bet they would never watch one!!

I want to be on this show - is it too late to send video?
Never played Bingo in my life until I went to Bingo the Musical in Chicago at the Apollo Theater.
Had a ball - so did all the 30 something folk around me.
I guess Bingo is huge in the Orient now.

I don’t think it is quite fair that the player on Bingo leaves with absolutely nothing and an audience member, does not work, shouts BINGO and takes the $5000 prize. The player deserves something. On the first show. the guy made the 500 miles. He should have won the $50,000 and the audience winner should have received the $500. That guy worked really hard.
For nothing!

See comment #32. If following simple directions is too difficult to understand, then bingo is a little too challenging for you.

For the person looking for bingo cards, you should go to NBNchat.com, it is a National Bingo Night forum. I bet you can find someone there who will help you out.
I think this show is really good. It has something for everyone, it is entertaining and you get to play from home.
The prizes do need to get better but that will happen with time and better sponsorship.
