ABC Premieres “You Deserve It” on November 21st

Just a day after NBC announced the debut of their new quiz show Who’s Still Standing?, ABC has announced the premiere date of their newest quizzer You Deserve It.  The charity-based game will debut Monday, November 21st, at 9:01PM ET, following Dancing With the Stars.  The show is a twist on the traditional game show format, because contestants will not be playing for themselves.  Each contestant plays for someone else they know who deserves the cash.  Chris Harrison of The Bachelor and Brooke Burns of Dog Eat Dog host.

Contestants play a series of rounds in studio with Chris Harrison for cash starting at $10,000 and going to $250,000.  They will need to buy a series of clues to help them solve the puzzle for the round and win the cash attached to it.  However, each clue costs money and they don’t know what it is until they select it.  Unlike most other quiz shows there’s no instant elimination and no giant, depressing losses.  At the end of the show the person who receives the cash will be awarded the cash in a life-changing hidden camera moment with co-host Brooke Burns.

What do you think?  Looking forward to it?  Good luck to the show.  It’s always great to see new quiz shows pop up.

I’m not sure if Chris Harrison is going to be a good game show host, since he’s used to hosting the more-serious Bachelor-type series. Then again, Jeremy Kyle was hired to host High Stakes and he isn’t doing too badly. In fact, he has actually brought some comedy to High Stakes, despite hosting his serious Jerry Springer-like talk show. Come to think of it, Jerry is quite funny on Baggage as well. Guess you can’t judge a host by their daytime show anymore…

My concern is that a $250,000 top prize is too cheap for a 1-hour primetime trivia game show. It should be at least $500,000 or $1,000,000 to compete with Who’s Still Standing? on NBC. Seeing a top prize ofr $250,000 for a quiz show reminds me of daytime syndicated 5th Grader.

According to the press release, it looks like $250,000 is the amount up for grabs in the final round, not for the entire game. Guess we’ll see…

Before Chris did The Bachelor, he hosted a game show for GSN called Mall Masters and did pretty well. The show itself left much to be desired, but he was fine as host.

Sounds good! I will tune in and it is great that it has a GOOD premiere time, right after Dancing With the Stars!!!! Good to see Who’s Still Standing popping up as well!!!

I’m happy to see Brooke Burns back in the game show world. Sad Hole in the Wall didn’t work out but hopefully this show will change her luck. Looking forward to it.

I have a question though. What happens if the person who gets the money doesn’t deserve it?

Then it would defeat the purpose of the entire show.

The idea itself sounds like the 50s strike it rich…which was a bizarre little (Rigged) game. I like the idea but I dunno if people are going to watch a lay person playing for another lay person…it’s hard and doom enough when celebs do it for more than a week at a time.

I also agree with scott…one fake or one guy getting shamed after winning and this show is in the toilet.

going to a quarter Mil isn’t a bad idea as it keeps things from turning into one massive screw after another, but I think this is more a daytime format (Screw the Chew!!!) or for a large audience cable channel. Still a good effort and I think Harrison will be fine and Burns was the only reason Dog Eat Dog was watchable.
